My mom and I decided to finally try Fast Weenies. She got the Kraut dog and I got the Chicago dog and potato salad. She really liked the Kraut dog and I enjoyed the Chicago dog. I've never had a hot dog with tomatoes and peppers on it before, but it was so good. The spice complimented the hot dog well. Neither of us were a fan of the potato salad but if you like a spicy potato salad, you might like it. We will definitely get a hot dog from there again though! Stopped by on my day off to try this adorable little hotdog stand! I had seen it a few times, but it was closed then. The staff were very friendly and I received my order super fast. I got a Casper Dog with everything on it and a potato salad. When you state homemade for 42 years, there's no way I'm not trying it! This is where my review is going to differ from the majority that I see here and maybe I just have different tastes !!?? but I wasn't happy with the food at all. The hotdog itself had a weird consistency and the casing was strange, making a squeaky sound against my teeth when I bit down. The toppings were fine, but it was really messy and kind of offputting to have a ton of cold toppings with a lukewarm hotdog. Costco hotdogs are better in my opinion. The potato salad was OK. I can see see how people would love it and it's got a good spice to it; however, it wasn't my thing and actually left my tummy feeling a little yucky after eating everything. While picking up some groceries, we looked over and saw this adorable little stand. Walk up or drive through, this little gem will take excellent care of you at the speed of light! I got just a classic dog with mustard and kraut which was exactly what I was looking for. It was hot and delicious with a soft and sweet bun, perfect! My husband hand the special, a cowboy dog which had BBQ sauce, jalapeno, crispy onions and cheese which was also absolutely a delight! I'm giving Fast Weenie two stars because, honestly, the prices are outrageous. I paid $20 for a medium drink, a tiny 4oz container of potato salad (which alone is $5!), and one chili cheese dog. That's ridiculously overpriced. And to make matters worse, you can't even pick up the chili dog....it's drowning in chili so soupy that the bun instantly turns to mush. I had to eat it with a fork and ended up leaving the bun behind entirely. The one bright spot? The potato salad. That was genuinely top-tier. If you're rich and just want a few cups of really good potato salad, maybe this place is worth a stop. The quality of this food was treacherous. The Frito bowl consisted of about of an estimate 10 Fritos, and two scoops of chili. For 7 dollars I'd expect to get a bag of Fritos at least. My Girlfriend ordered the the Louisiana hotdog. She got cut up hotdogs, soggy bun floating in wet beans. It wasn't even a hotdog bun it was two pieces of a hot dog bun. Definitely not coming back. The best thing about this place is it's longevity. It's been here over 40 years I believe. I stopped in on a ride just for the nostalgia and got the Casper dog with sauerkraut and mustard...like I like. Nice to see a big crew working in that tiny space and giving everyone what they need. Service was great. It was a very hot day and they had a guy out talking with people in their cars. I had never been here before so I ordered the regular dog with chili, cheese and onions. The works. I also ordered a medium soda. The food came out fast. Inside the box was a dog in a bun. Chili on top with grated cheese and chopped onions. The dog was luke warm, the chili was not warm enough to melt the cheese, and the onions were off to the side of the mess. Fortunately, they give you a spoon. This is not suitable to pick up and eat. The medium temperature put me off the whole thing. It was 2pm....after the normal lunch rush. They are just getting going after a long shut down. I hope they get better. Finally got past the name and drove through for a fast Polish Kraut yesterday out of convienence as I was shopping at Orchard (Redding's poor excuse for a natural foods store). Blech. Don't waste your time with this place...just head over to Wilda's instead. I wished I had after eating my dog. I'm not sure the "Polish" sausage on my dog was even made with meat, it was extremely poor quality.
