Maybe it was a fluke, but my first order was a big fat disappointment. I ordered tri tip, potato salad, onion rings, and the four piece BBQ chicken. I didn't realize tri tip could be that tough. The potato salad is basically Reser's, Sysco, ? The onion rings were alright! Thought it was a cool carhop idea but nonetheless went inside and it appeared at one point Fat Daddy's was a popping place but has since come down some notches the food was bland at best and covered in sauce to replace that flavor that was missing. I was passing through Redding and needed to stop and eat somewhere. Ended up with a fantastic pulled pork sandwich and the beans were damn good too. Felt bad not finishing but I tend to get sleepy on long drives, so I ate half and saved the rest for later. Having finished that second half, I can truly say I had a divine experience here. Yes!! What a lil goldmine this place is. The place is what I would call a little hole in the wall joint. I tried the country beef ribs with the bbq beans (oh lawd) and the bbq wedges. I'm a firm believer in getting what I pay for and Fat Daddy's did not disappoint with the meat and sauce portions. My fat*ss couldn't stop eating it, even after I was full! I guess a photo would've been in order, but I was so excited and devoured the meal before I could think of getting a pic. Fyi, they close at 5:30 pm daily so they do not offer dinner. Good food, but lowering the rating to create some urgency for the owner to update pricing on the printed menus and spot-clean those dirty vents etc. Technically the owner should be honoring the lower price from the printed menu if someone is ordering from the printed menu, price as advertised. I was really hoping the food would have blown me away since the decor did not. This 60 dollar meal is something my really old grandpa would throw together on a weekend real quick. The bbq sauce was from Walmart along with the potato salad. Slaw was soupy. The meat was tender and had char, but there is not an ounce of originality, no pizazz, no nothing really. It was so hot we tried eating outside but the tables were gross and at first the person who took our order was making the food, so we didn't want to be a bother. I eat here a lot and I always enjoy it. I had ribs today and the new garlic fries, which are really good. I love the chicken and pulled pork. I like to get a fat meal once in a while when I feel like cutting out some carbs. The potato wedges are a great break from standard French fries too. Okay so look.. I was really trying to give them the benefit of the doubt. A lot of reviews say "don't eat here bc expensive/bland/etc", but here's an honest review from my viewpoint. Service was amazing. Honestly had a homey vibe to it. Nothing wrong with that. The food was delicious. Was... I was honestly starving therefore I just scarfed it down. Half way through I found a bug on the lettuce. I don't have a picture of it bc I just threw it away and continue eating bc I was hungry. But then the next thing I found was very unacceptable, A HAIR!! Oh my god, I'm still grossed out. I'm not looking for a refund or free thing or anything along the lines of that. I didn't realized they closed at 5pm and I showed up for dinner. The owner walked out and I asked if they were closed. He said yes but that he would take my order anyways. He unlocked the doors, invited me in, took my order and chatted with me while it was being made. He is such a kind and genuine person. I was already sold then! On top of that, the food is great! As part of a road trip to San Francisco, I roll all up into Fat Daddy's and immediately ordered up the pulled pork combo and added a hot link sammie. In short: Pulled Pork Sandwich: the pulled meat is shredded finely, more so than normal BBQ. A bit drier BUT with a slathering of their spicy BBQ sauce (a darker, thick sauce) makes it a decent sammie. I thought this would have been the star of the show based on reviews posted but maybe a 3.5 star. Hot Link Sandwich: Now this is what I am talking about! 5 stars for the Hot Link. The sausage link is spilt lengthwise on the bun with Caesar salad piled on top. The spice level blends in well with the fresh crunch of the greens! BBQ Beans: tangy, thick like chili, and with chucks of barbecue. Onion Rings: Super crunchy batter and hot onion insides. No complaints here as Fat Daddy makes these my favorite way. Satisfying meal and fuel for the long drive ahead, Fat Daddy's is now officially bookmarked for future trips. read more

I came in to Fat Daddy's as I was traveling back to Washington State and had found them on Yelp. I told them I was ready for some great BBQ and wanted a good sampling of what they have to offer and to prepare me just what they would want if it were their last meal :) Let me tell you, they didn't disappoint me and I savored the BBQ all the way to the Oregon border. I had 2 succulent Ribs, some pulled pork and a smoked sausage which had some kick to it but very juicy. All it it was great. I also had their baked beans which are hearty by themselves and the cole slaw was fabulous. It had some crispness to it like small diced apples or jicama was in it. Very good and fresh! Garlic fries to die for !!! Also the meals . Husband had the baby back meal with beans and garlic bread , daughter the tri- tip meal with potato salad and garlic bread and I had the chicken meal with coleslaw and beans . Everything was super tender and delicious , right amount of barbq sauce . The beans and coleslaw , yummy ! Service was very nice and friendly too ! I feel sorry for the folks in Redding that think this is BBQ. Putting bbq sauce on your food doesn't mean you serve BBQ. My lunch consisted of a pulled pork sandwich with no flavor what's so ever, bbq beans that were canned pinto beans cooked in bbq sauce with some kind of stringy meat in it. French fries that tasted like they were fried in 2 day old oil. I picked the spicy bbq sauce to try an kick up the taste of the pork. It had no spice or heat or even a good taste. We decided to try it. So glad we did! Looks like a converted old time drive in burger place with servers on skates. Don't let the looks deceive you!!! Inside we ordered at the counter. We decided to split a Fat Daddy Meal for $10.95. We chose pulled pork, chicken, and tri tip with onion rings and coleslaw as our 2 sides. Oh my gosh, it looked and smelled so good, I forgot to take a picture. It was served on two plates for us and it was the perfect amount for a light yet delicious meal. It was just OK. The tri-tip wasn't seasoned at all. It seemed to be baked possibly? And then just dipped in BBQ sauce. The roll was good, the BBQ sauce was good and the fries were good. However, the potato salad was definitely not home made and tasted like the sweet gross stuff that comes pre-made in a tub. Unfortunately we won't be back. HOLY MOLY! Coming back to Cali after an Oregon road trip we surveyed roads for like 50 miles waiting to find a well rated place near the highway to feast at. WELL BOYS, I FOUND THE MECCA My gf had the tri-tip sammy and I had the combo tri-tip & pulled pork sandwich. Both meats are hot fire and the BBQ sauce is absolutely delicious. We left no prisoners. End of my meal Im beyond full so I knew I had to get some Burnt Rib Tips for the road. Yea seriously, they got burnt tips from the bbq short ribs, and they sell em by the pound!!!
