Ontario native for 20+ years and "Fast Wok" has been here for as long as I can remember. Honestly, I myself have never went here until recently. My parents said they went here years ago and said the food was pretty bad for a Chinese restaurant, but those were the old owners. Funny enough, they have had the "under new ownership" sign up for many years lol, so I wonder how many times they actually went under ownership change. Anyway, I just happen to be checking for Chinese food in the area but couldn't help notice that there were more reviews here and it was above a 4.0. I don't remember how long it's been since I checked Fast Wok's reviews, but I know awhile back it was well under 4 stars. So, I had to give this place a shot because recent reviews looked good and I was craving orange chicken and I don't want to drive too far. I opted for two A plates, which is fried rice, chow mein, and one meat entree which I got one with orange chicken, the other with beef with broccoli. The orange chicken tasted pretty good, meaty, big, and not super breaded. The fried rice was old and parts of it was hard. The chow mein was a bit different than other ones I've had, but it tasted decent. The biggest let down was the beef with broccoli. I literally got 4 small pieces of beef, and everything else was broccoli and it was near-flavorless. Pricing was fair, about 11ish per entre, portion size were above average but not amazing, with the exception of that beef with broccoli. Service was nice, lady was nice. The store itself has a decent amount of tables and places to sit but they have NO air conditioning, so make sure you get your food to go unless you want to be eating in the summer heat. Sorry but this place is not even remotely close to being a 4 stars. I'd say it sits probably around a 3.3-3.5 at best. I personally am only coming back for the orange chicken and chow mein ONLY. After that experience with their friend rice and the beef with broccoli, I don't think it's worth ordering anything except for orange chicken and chow mein. read more

I found out I have an extra 3% added to my bill only after going to to check my credit card statement, even though the receipt didn't show it. The food wasn't terrible but what made me come make this bad review is the shady business tactic. If you want to charge extra for using credit card that's fine but I need to know about it. read more

I really wanted to like this place because the reviews were decent, but unfortunately the experience just didn't match up. We walked in during dinner time and the restaurant was completely empty, which already raised a small red flag. The staff was genuinely very nice, and that honestly made this review harder to write, but the food itself was just not good. The chow mein was unlike anything I've ever had, and not in a good way. The noodles and overall style were strange, and you could tell right away the food was not fresh. We only ordered one plate to share because we wanted to give it a chance and we were hungry, and usually hunger makes food taste better. Even then, it just wasn't it. What really sealed it for me was the overall cleanliness. The cook took off their apron and placed it on the dining table, which felt way too casual and unsanitary. Everything around us looked chronically dirty, not just a little messy. Even the Apple Pay reader was visibly grimy, which honestly made me uncomfortable. I know they're under new management, and I truly hope they improve because I never want a small business to fail, but as of now this felt like wasted money. I honestly think this place's 4.1-star rating is based more on the customer service than the food. This was some of the worst Chinese takeout I've ever had. The orange chicken lacked flavor, and the chicken itself was overcooked and tough. The chow mein was completely bland, and the noodles were the wrong type for what I'd expect from chow mein. I keep making the same mistake: refusing to fully accept the precipitous decline of American food at restaurants and trying to find a good plate of shrimp fried rice. This is not it. One of the pictures seduced me. I gave it a try. $17. I couldn't finish it. My dog didn't like it. My Mom didn't like it. Uh, no thanks. Why three stars? The customer service was great. I'm sure she's doing her best. She has a wonderful spirit. I take no pleasure in leaving this review. I also take no pleasure in lighting $17 on fire. But at least I tried it and now I know. Went in on a whim because we finished charging the car nearby and we weren't disappointed. The managers were very friendly and helpful. They made recommendations based on our preferences with a sample to seal the deal. We went in hoping to buy 'some food' but ended up with a couple of days supply of delicious pork, chicken and beef. Conveniently located right off the 60 FWY off Vineyard exit, corner of Vineyard Ave. and E. Walnut St. next to Domino's and Starbucks. Plenty of parking. We were driving by and this place came up as we searched 'Fast Chinese' so we stopped to try it. We were immediately greeted and welcomed. The owners are amazing! Helen & Boon took their time to get to know us as first-time customers. Although they had limited options ready for selection, we couldn't make up our minds and were offered samples which helped us choose. They will prepare any other menu items on the spot if what you want is not ready and displayed. We tried their 'Popcorn Chicken, Orange Chicken, and Teriyaki Chicken with pickled vegetables', 'Fried Rice and Chowmein', and an iced 'Thai Tea' to drink. Their 'Spicy Pork' (Chile Verde) tastes amazing over white rice. Everything was yummy, with a 'home-cooked' feeling and not necessarily the common Chinese fast food taste. You can also find 'Kimchi' here. They have a 'special dish' featured on Fridays from other cuisine types such as Cambodian, Thai, etc. Prices are very reasonable and portions are generous. The restaurant is clean with enough tables to sit and enjoy your meal. Overall, we had a positive experience at this family-owned and operated spot and will definitely return. read more

I'm sad to report that I was not a fan of the food here at Fastwok. I'm not sure if it was the day I came in or maybe it's their take on this type of cuisine, but it was just not for me. On my way home with my family, I decided to go onto Yelp and find a place to eat. I was craving Chinese/Asian cuisine, kind of like Panda Express, but not Panda Express. I found this restaurant, and the reviews were good, and the pics were so-so, but we still wanted to give them a try. I stayed in the car while my husband ran inside. I gave him my order: Chow mein, orange chicken, and teriyaki chicken. He came back to the car and said, "Well, thankfully, they had what you wanted because the items were a bit limited". He got what he thought he might like, and we went home. We get home, I open up my plate, and at a glance, it looked okay??? For lack of a better word, I guess it looked... ehh. I noticed right off the bat that the food wasn't very fragrant, and I actually picked up on that even in the car. I couldn't smell the food at all, which is a weird thing to mention, but I'm used to the aroma filling the car to the point where I'm like, "Dang, it's going to smell like X food in here now." We started eating, and honestly, the flavor just wasn't hitting for me. The teriyaki chicken didn't taste like teriyaki chicken--it tasted more like roasted or grilled chicken. The orange chicken didn't taste like orange chicken either. I wouldn't have minded their take on it if the sauce tasted like orange chicken. It looked like they used popcorn chicken for it, and IDK, the texture was kind of weird. It was super mushy and not fully coated in the sauce. The chow mein was okay too--not like any other chow mein I've had, but not terrible. The service from what my husband tells me was really nice. The gentleman who helped me was super enthusiastic and kind. Even gave him a sample of a chicken they had. I was in the area and in the mood for some Chinese. Nice little spot, quick and simple in and out express process. Price is decent for the portions, very generous. The orange chicken is yummy and so is the fried rice. My only critiques are I didn't get a fortune cookie (that's the experience!!!) and I also found the green bean chicken just okay, the green beans were undercooked. Really glad I came here as I was craving some Chinese food. I didn't have high expectations coming in here and wanted something quick to-go. This place didn't disappoint! I didn't order their typical plate menu, instead I ordered their dishes as one whole to-go box. So I ordered their black bean fish and kung pao chicken which came out to about $28 total (so $14 each). I'm really glad I did this because the chef cooked it fresh and it was so delicious!! I highly recommend ordering it this way (especially if you already have rice at home). The ones outside in the trays (like Panda Express style) didn't look fresh and tbh, looked really sad. So I'm really happy they made my batch fresh. The flavors: Really well done especially since I had low expectations and their black bean fish was the kind that had light coat of breading around it. Really good flavor and would order this again. My Kung Pao Chicken was pretty good, wouldn't mind having more of a kick to it, but otherwise flavors were good considering this isn't Panda Express or whatever :)! This was my go to spot for Chinese food for many YEARS! Came back to visit family and noticed a "under new management sign." Out of tradition I decided to still get some food. I was so disappointed in the food. It was bland , lacked color and flavorless. The texture was dry. It's such a disappointment. This use to be the best Chinese food. I've never seen pale chow-mein.
