My daughter needed a Covid test for a work exposure and this was the only place we could find on a weekend that accepts our insurance plan. We were able to make her an appointment online for that day, and had to wait outside while she went in. So far, so good...but when she came out, she informed us that the receptionist had said curtly that it didn't matter what our co-pay is ($30), that they charge a flat fee of $90 for patients with our insurance plan, and it had to paid up front. So she put it on the credit card. After a wait of five days for the PCR test results (negative), I gave the insurance a call and found out that they had billed them $300, and our co-pay was indeed $30. So we were overcharged by $60, which I don't intend to let them keep, on top of their already pricey charge for a simple Covid test. The EOB (Explanation of Benefits) from our insurance company finally posted online, and I tried to call the clinic's billing office, which doesn't answer their phone, and left several messages over several days. Waste of time. So I initiated a credit card dispute. You would think that having the EOB and a receipt would have easily netted me a refund of the $60 overcharge, but almost two months after the visit, I'm still wrangling with this mess and wasting more of my time over something that should never have happened in the first place. Lesson learned to avoid this clinic, and hoping to save others from the same treatment. read more

DON'T COME HERE! This clinic is close to my house and has been extremely convenient a couple of times when I've misplaced my emergency inhaler and have a sudden asthma attack. Service provided was great until a few months ago when the staff changed. The person at the front desk is terribly rude and seemed to get some sick satisfaction from delaying my getting oxygen to inform me of my overdue balance. She has been consistently rude and was rather degrading in her remarks about me going from insured to self pay. Same thing on my next visit, which I checked in online, filled out paper work, signed forms all to sit for 2 hours to have a provider barely glance up from his paper to one exposed piece of skin on my leg (I came in because of a massive rash all over my body and face) and says it's probably an allergic reaction. My son visited FastMed on N. Lamar in Austin, TX and was seen after 7pm for a 5:30 appointment. His symptoms of severe ear pain went unaddressed as attending person told him she couldn't see in his ear due to swelling, so she couldn't assess it. His throat was painful, red, swollen, and had white pockets and lines on it.  The rapid strep test came back negative.  She then told him that she wasn't sure what could be wrong, but that he should be tested for HIV as the next step!  She told him she would prescribe a steroid and an antiviral.  When he arrived to pick up his prescriptions, she had prescribed doxycycline, prednisone, and acyclovir. read more

I was feeling bad and went to carenow and the waiting room was empty, the front desk lady told me it would be at least a three hour wait and barked at me "it's flu season you know." I walked over to fastmed to test my luck and the front desk lady was super kind and was able to squeeze me in even though there weren't any appointments available. The provider was kind, thorough, but also efficient. I was in and out in 30 minutes! Great experience overall. read more

Had a horrible experience at this location today around 3PM. Visited the website where they advertised I could create an account, schedule my appointment AND check-in all online so that I can save time and get into see a dr faster. Cool, so I spent 20 minutes answering the endless questions about my medical history, signing 4 release forms and confirming I am not a carrier of COVID AND finally received a QR code and was told to show it to the receptionist at the clinic. When I got to the clinic I showed my QR code and the person handed it right back to me and said this is your copy -- hmmm, ok why did your site tell me to hand it to you? Then she hands me a piece of paper to fill out with basic info like name etc plus covid questions. I said I already filled all this out on your website - she said, yeah, I need this for you file. Ok - seems like your website does not work and you just want to be right and not admit it...ok filled out the piece of paper and answered questions I already answered. Then I am given an iPad and told to go check in - first question is what my first and last name is (which would be the third time I would have officially answered this question) - I just laughed handed it back and walked out. My main issue is the wretched attitude of the person at the front. Rude, condescending and rushing me. Sure glad to waste your time. Had second degree burn, called urgent care centers who referred me here. Called "FastMed", who listened to my need, and booked my appointment the next day to get my burn looked at. Only thing is, FastMed doesn't do nerve damage or burns! I of course didnt find this out until i showed up to the appointment, gave them a full medical history and information, and waited over an hour for a doctor who came in and said "well I can see its burned?..." Stopped in around 9am today to have a deep cut sutured after a bike accident down the street. It was super quick, efficient and all in all a great experience. I booked an appointment and had to wait 45 minutes to see the clinician. I had vertigo, and the clinician wouldn't perform the helpful maneuver on me. She said the table was too close to the wall and I should watch a YouTube video and do it to myself at home. Needless to say, it was a totally useless and frustrating visit. This place is such a disappointment. After waiting 45+ minutes from my scheduled appointment time I was finally seen. However, there was no one there knowledgeable enough to test the urine sample they had me give, and the x-ray technician was off that day. A complete waste of time, yet they still charged me $180 for the visit. Now I'm going to have to waste even more time fighting with them to get that reimbursed. They have no idea what they are doing and are completely unorganized. While I was waiting in the lobby, another person came in and they lost the results of his TB test so he had to redo the whole thing which prevented him from going back to work. For minor problems and bumps and bruises - which I seem to acquire a lot - this place is fast. clean and close. Last week after (another) bike accident I wobbled in and they treated me well and almost immediately including x-rays. Not only that, they were smart enough to give me a disc with the x-rays on them so when I saw my orhtopedist (which they recommended I do soon!) he was able to view the film easily and not have to order another set. See? That's money-savings right there. I hate ER and trauma centers, but if you've got to go why not try someplace where the service is good and fast? And if you are fortunate enough to have NP Bobbie take care of you you'll get sound medical opinions delivered from a confident beautiful woman. Not a bad deal in my view. FastMed Urgent Care - Ouch!! - Urgent Care Near Me - Austin, Texas

This location at 34th & Lamar is permanently closed. YET, I was able to register for an appointment; submitted all the requested info, photos, etc., and received confirmation by text and email that I was registered and would be contacted again when to come in. This hadn't happened after a couple hours. I called, and the line was "busy." Every time. When I looked at registering at a different location, the website said wait times were slower at THIS location. I drove to the location during regular business hours and it was DESERTED. The website says it's permanently closed starting "9/29." I assumed this meant 2023. This is a terrible way to run a health care business. I wasted hours for nothing, and then waited hours again at a different location owned by the company, CareNow/St. David's, that was open. I'll be contacting them, and my insurance provider, which had this place listed as available. read more

Absolute shake-down. Told by front desk that my simple COVID rapid test would come at no charge to me after insurance. FastMed then bills me $300. After lengthy discussions with my insurance provider, I am told there should be no cost to me, and that the balance would be covered. Months later, I receive a letter from collections for $140. Booking and checking were easy online. The staff were helpful and efficient. The policies are not so great. My prescribed medication had no effect. I couldn't just call and talk to the PA to get advice. I had to schedule (and pay for) a new office visit, just a couple days after my first. Also, the only telephone number they provided on multiple pieces of correspondence was actually a fax line, not a voice line. I would have figured that out, but the number was also out of service. Horrible location to go to. I went there this morning for an 8:15am appointment. The Caucasian female behind the desk asked me to email her my medical form and to fill out a check-in form. She leaves and then a Latina/Filipino/brown female comes to the desk and tells me not to fill out the paper form and to check in on the iPad. She also tells me to show her a picture of my medical form bc she doesn't have access to the email address the previous female gave to me. She looks at my form and says she's never seen one like this before and to please excuse the Caucasian female because she's sick today. Why did she even come to work today in this current time of Covid, especially at a medical facility?! I took my mom here when she became sick while traveling. She was seen by a doctor 1.5 hours *after* her appointment time. The staff- front desk and doctor- were extremely rude, patronizing, abrasive, and unhelpful. No one communicated about the delay, and when we asked for a time eatimate we were told we could go somewhere else. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone, ever. They sent one notice, did NOT let me pay while I was there and now have sent it to collections although I have called countless times and been on hold for ten minutes to then be told everyone is busy (over and over). stopped by this little place one afternoon for a broken knuckle, and was the only patient there. I was seen fairly quickly by the care team & doctor. xrays were done (no lead shield offered?!) and the doctor showed me the results. she pointed to her laptop screen, and described different parts of my hand, in a very obvious way. she leaned in close to me, and said "i'm not really a doctor. i'm just an assistant." strange. she went on, "I don't know how to read xrays, and we don't have a radiologist here." what? she had someone splint my wrist. I had to explain that my wrist isn't injured, it's my knuckle. I had to continue to explain the proper way to splint a broken knuckle to a group of urgent care employees. read more

WALKED OUT OF THE EXAM ROOM AFTER AN HOUR AND 15 MINUTE LONG WAIT. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Was in last night. Absolutely no warning on how soon I would be seen. Guy at the front desk absolutely reeked of cigarettes, was extremely rude about why I had come in to the center (was laughing, being very short and almost standoffish) and was just overall extremely unprofessional. His biker jacket and helmet were spread across the counter. Did NOT seem like a medical office. I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. I sat in the patient room for over an hour simply waiting for someone to come into the room to check on me. It was DIRTY. There was filth on the walls, small pieces of some sort of plastic trash on the floor and areas of the walls where paint had been scraped off. Not ONE TIME did someone come into the room to make sure that I was okay. However, I could hear FastMed employees in the hallway saying "Only two hours left!", "Thank God!", "I can't WAIT to go home". It was SO unbelievably unprofessional. Didn't seem like they cared about patients in the building, AT ALL. After waiting for over an hour and 15 minutes, I decided to just get up and leave because no one had checked on me for 45 minutes and was just completely fed up with the experience through and through. Being in the building literally gave me an anxiety attack. The front desk worker being rude, the lack of "care", the piercing silence of the building and the dirty state of the rooms- the person that I was with literally compared the experience to BEING IN A PRISON. If I could give this place a zero, I would give it 0/5 stars. One of the worst medical experiences of my life. I've been to plenty of other "fast med" places and they have handled my cases quickly and professionally. Not here. STAY VERY VERY FAR AWAY! Go right up the street to the other place. What a bunch of nice people they are at this clinic, super friendly and help full. My husband had twisted his foot and needed an x-ray. There was no waiting time. The PA was very knowledgeable, efficient and professional. They bandaged him up with a temporary cast and we left with the x-ray on a CD and a recommendation for an orthopedic specialist. Could't really ask for anything more. For obvious reasons I hope to not have to go there again, but if I do, I know it will be a good experience. Thank you! read more

I had strep. I knew I had strep. I made a reservation online, showed up on time, and sat forever waiting to see someone. I was the first in line; it wasn't that crowded, but I kept getting the "I'm the only provider here" answer. It was after work on a weekday. The whole thing took over an hour. Also they charged me erroneously for a co-pay. I did give them the wrong insurance card at first (in my defense, I was delirious with fever), and they charged me for a co-pay before even verifying the insurance. Once I gave them the correct card, they said oh, you don't have a co-pay. The charges still haven't been reversed on my account (a week and a half later), and I've called and left a message. Also, on my discharge papers it said I had tonsillitis. I'm not a medical profession, but can you have tonsillitis, if you don't have tonsils? I had a tonsillectomy when I was 3. read more

I had been feeling sick for a couple of days and didn't know what to do because my GP is utterly useless. I looked up a few urgent care clinics near my house. I've been to Med Spring in the past and had terrible experiences, and I've heard great things about FastMed from friends. So I went to FastMed. I'm very glad I went. Omar at the front desk was very nice. He processed my application and insurance very fast. He probably offered me water like 4 or 5 times. I waited maybe 10-15min before John came out and brought me back to where all the action happens. He took my vitals and he too was very nice and also offered me water like 4 or 5 times. They really believe in hydration. He brought me into a room where I waited for the doc, Lindsey. Lindsey came in and asked me a bunch of question about how I was feeling, when everything started, if I had pain anywhere, etc. You can tell she really cares about the patients she sees. She walked me through a few options before explaining what I should do. I highly recommend going to see the fine folks at FastMed if you want to feel better! With the Flu epidemic sweeping our nation, I'd like to think a clinic or any medical facility would take it seriously as to nip the virus in the butt preventing it from spreading and perpetuating this Flu season we can't seem to shake. After trying two failed attempts with clinics before this one due to them being out of Flu tests, I came across FastMed and happily walked in when there wasn't a sign on the door notifying patients that there were out of the Flu tests. At least the previous clinics notified you before you even stepped in the door. This place did not notify me until I filled out all the paperwork and just thought to ask. They replied so nonchalantly, 'oh no we don't have the flu test, but we can prescribe you Tamiflu based on your systems. And good thing, we only have two more weeks of flu season.' Ummm? I am not sure how that works. Just in two weeks, the flu magically disappears? It's not like a countdown to Christmas and all of a sudden it's gone. I stuck around because they could still hopefully determine if I had the flu and give me the preventive meds. I wouldn't normally be worried and just ride it out without the Tamiflu, but with a kid under 2 at home, I really wanted to take precautions, which I made clear to them. But then the part that really irked me with this visit occurred. The receptionist asked...'is it just a cold or just allergies?' 'Well,' I replied, 'You tell me.' Why are you asking me what I have and please don't try to downplay what I have or what I am feeling because you're out of the flu test and there's 'only two more weeks of the flu season.' The did give me a strep test, which came back positive. I then asked if it was possible to have the flu, as well. And their way of determining based on my symptoms was that it 'didn't look like I had the flu.' I explained, I didn't want to get my child sick if I did have. They sent me on my way saying the Step and Flu symptoms are too similar to tell the difference between the two and I left without the Tamiflu prescription. I went directly to an ER Clinic and received a flu test that also came back positive. So, I did end up having Strep and The Flu but ended up having to have another clinic tell me that. I am thankful to have learned I had it and treat it properly, but a little concerned that this clinic was not treating patients accordingly, thus perpetuating this flu sickness! read more

Why would FastMed allow a customer to schedule a day-of visit online if the clinic is closed? I scheduled a visit during business hours Sunday and arrived to find the clinic closed with no warning. If I knew the clinic was closed, I would have gone elsewhere. Call ahead and make sure they're open because their website is useless. If I could give 0 stars I would. Dr. Saige has terrible bed side manner and will recommend you go to the ER no matter what you come in for. After I went in to get stitches for my finger, she recommended I go to the ER to which I told her I'd prefer stitches. Since we disagreed -- I said I would go to a different clinic to get a second opinion and she let me leave without bandaging my finger that was cut WIDE open and was bleeding. I will never be going back to FastMed Urgent Care unless they get a different doctor. I ended up going down the road to MedSpring and walked out 30 minutes later with 4 stitches, no recommendation of going to the ER, and they said the cut wasn't as bad as it looked. read more

Great doctor. However, I paid two bills when I was there and I keep getting collection notices. I proved that I paid it to my Equifax. But Fast med even though they said they called KLS financial to say I paid it apparently never did and this is a never ending collection I have to fight over and over again. This collection happened in the first place because when I visited I was told my insurance covered it and walked out without a bill. 6 months later I go in and I am told I owe 237 dollars. So I pay my visit and that visit. Now I am the new king of fighting collections. Please make this right fast med. I still have both receipts. read more

FastMed's bill collection processes are deceptive and predatory. I went to receive a COVID shot, which was suggested was covered by insurance, and then when I called them after getting a $180 bill, was told to check with my insurance who was not covering it. While I was checking with insurance, they sent me to collections and tacked on multiple "late charges and fees". I now have a $250 bill and no recourse. Friday night of a holiday weekend is not the time to have a mini-emergency, so of course, that's exactly what happened to me. One of my teeth, for which I'll be having surgery soon anyway, decided to get infected and try to kill me. It wasn't something that could wait till Monday, but it wasn't quite the kind of emergency to hit the ER for. Sure, the ER could have seen me and helped, but my insurance would have deemed it a non-emergency, and I would have wiped out my savings trying to pay the bill. In my search for an Urgent Care facility, I found that almost all of them in my area closed at 8PM, but it was already 7:30, and I needed to arrange a ride. FastMed, however, was open till 9 and not too far away, so I gave them a call. The lady who answered the phone (and I later met at the reception desk) was so incredibly nice, assured me that they bill as urgent care and not emergency, and told me to come on in. When I got there, she was just as nice as she'd been on the phone, and I was seen almost immediately. The nurse was incredibly friendly, and the physician's assistant who checked me out was also super nice. They offered me a shot for pain, which the nurse somehow administered without me even feeling it -- seriously, that man was just amazing! And they called in a prescription to the 24 hour pharmacy at HEB Hancock Center, so I could be on my way. I've been to urgent care centers a couple of times in the past several years, and I never really had a bad experience, but FastMed was just amazing. Really, I think it's the people there that make all the difference. They were quick, very personable, and certainly competent. I didn't expect any pain meds, so the fact that they offered me that incredible (non-opioid) shot was great. They also kept me around a few minutes to make sure I reacted well to it. I couldn't have had a better experience here, and I'm sure they'll be my first stop the next time I need some quick care! read more
