Front desk and nursing staff are very cold, not compassionate. Covid patients are in the same waiting room, feels very unsafe. Slow check-in bc they lost my prior medical chart. The "nurse" checking my vitals and doing intake was extremely rude, have never been treated that way. I'm here bc I don't feel well, but don't need to be treated poorly. The PA treating me was nice and respectful, but I will never come back based on check in. Hopefully I don't have covid due to FastMed. read more

Went back again since my last 2015 visit and still nothing changed on the insurance front. They still couldn't tell me what charges would be off my same Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance which I find to be absolutely ridiculous whatever the reason. I have never been to any other medical center for myself of my children who doesn't know this upfront. They will charge me an amount in the future with my held credit card. Absurd. If you want to see a PA and get in rather quickly this is the place for you. Probably not the place if you want to see a medical doctor. My PA addressed one specific issue I had but really didn't address my other issue. With my symptoms I described she should have had a lot more questions but it was near closing time and felt like they were ready to close. Either she didn't know what she was doing or really didn't care. Will be going to my primary care provider tomorrow for real answers. read more

If you ever have any serious issue DO NOT go to FastMed. I had an injury the Saturday before Christmas and went to FastMed on 751 across from Harris Teeter... I got there 15 minutes before closing and the people at the front desk were very clear that they just wanted to get me in and out as quickly as possible. I was never even actually seen by a doctor. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and sent home with a prescription for high dose ibuprofen, which I told them I had already taken 800mgs and it didn't ease the pain at all. Today, it was confirmed that I have a cracked rib. So these jackwagons sent me home with a cracked rib and nothing to ease the pain. Horrible. Do not ever use them. Staff checked me in, then forgot about me for 1.5 hours as she took lunch. I overheard that when she put me in the room and I then waited another 1.5 hours. I got a COVID test, and after 5 days, I started calling to see what results are. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE. No answering machine. I called over 12 times per day, over a period of 3 days, letting it ring 3-4 mins each time, before I finally get an answer today! Today, 9 days after my test, I have no results, because they're closing early at 1pm unannounced today. Really? Horrible experience, very unprofessional, and so now I do not at all trust their processes or medical procedures after all this. How unorganized are you? read more

Nothing urgent happening here except our need for care. Took someone here who fell and hit her head - she came in with swollen bruise on eyelid and bleeding hands from fall on pavement No one offered any assistance - we gave Heath insurance and filled forms and sat for close to an hour unattended to. We are still waiting ... And the front desk is training a new receptionist... Drive the extra few miles to Chapel Hill or another location if you have a truly urgent medical need... Perhaps this would be ok if you had a cold- and lets talk about receptionist phone manners - there were none! I was out on hold without even being asked if this was an emergency. Even my vet receptionist has enough sense or compassion to ask if this is an emergency instead of just saying " fast med hold please ".... Wow! Had a great experience here the other day! I went in just before noon due to a severe cold and ear ache and was the only one in the entire place. After filling out some forms, I was brought to the back and seen by an assistant and the dr before getting a prescription. Total time from getting there to leaving was maybe 20 minutes tops. I was able to book a same day appointment for 9:10am (other places could be weeks). Very short wait. They are upfront on costs (awesome, unlike Duke which demands a blank check) though you have to ask to find out you'll see a "PA" not a doctor. Everyone was friendly and helpful and efficient. Was sent here for a random drug screening. Forms and specimen cups were sent via Fedex the day before. I was instructed to bring the form that was emailed to me and a photo ID. I was asked to fill out a patient information form that included by social security number. I contacted my employer and was told I just had to supply my employee ID number which is NOT my SSN. Lady at the front desk refused to process my package since I did not provide my SSN and placed the specimen cup and chain of custody form on the counter and walked away. Eventually my employer reached someone higher up in the organization and it was worked out where i was able to provide a sample. In this day and age of stolen identities, SSN are not required for a drug test in which someone else has established a contract to pay, etc. This is an easy money contract and I hope that FASTMED listens to feedback on their protocols. Additional training on handling chain of custody is in order here. Never should the cup have been placed outside of their control. I have also provided this feedback to my organization in hopes that they will contract with a more professional business. The woman collecting the sample was very professional and courteous. The doc was nice and the nurse seemed to be all right, but the receptionist was a hot mess of attitude and indifference, with no understanding of how to be personable or show discretion -- which is the LAST thing anyone wants to deal with when they're sick or in pain. With her personality traits and skill set, she could easily get a job at the DMV. read more

Made a yelp account just so I could review this place. Visited Saturday and the front desk staff was rude, the nurse was rude, the doctor was friendly. Doctor prescribed me antibiotics and had my pharmacy information but no one called the prescription in. Couldn't get in touch with anyone Sunday about it so I called back Monday. They hadn't sent the prescription yet and asked me what kind of antibiotics it was? I have no idea, why would I know that. Last year when I went there were no issues and it is right next to my house so it's convenient. Not going again. Who wants to deal with that when you're sick? read more

The employee looked me in the eye and locked the door in my face today. I called at 350, leaving Target, who would not see us since they had a line and closed at 4. I asked if FastMed could see us if we arrived before 4 and whether they had a wait. The woman "checked with the provider" and said they would see me but would lock the door at 4. I said it was 355 and I was on 751 past the Crown Honda light coming north, I was sure I would make it before 4. She told me "you can go to Duke, they are open until 8." I said thanks but I would like to come to you (because it wouldn't have a wait and my son may have strep so it should be easy/ quick). Due to traffic,I arrived at 359, we literally ran around the building and arrived at the door as she locked it. She looked me in the eye and walked away. I looked at my phone and watched it change 359 to 4. They knew I was coming, they locked the door in my face rather than offer us care. It would have taken so little for them to check us in, swab his throat, give us a prescription and send us on our way. Instead, they looked at me and turned me away. That takes a cold person to look at a mom and her sick kid and send them away. read more

Now granted, my son and I were the first ones in the door when they opened, but Retha in the front office was so welcoming and Lindsay, our medical provider, was so caring, I'd be writing a good review even if we'd had to wait a while. Very good experience at FastMed. Went in with cut on hand, immediately brought me to exam room (which was clean, well-lit and comfortable). Andrew Cho patched me up and was very good about explaining my options to me, as well as providing post-discharge instructions. Total time from when I walked in the door to my discharge was 45 minutes. Would certainly recommend to others. read more

I've been to this health care provider twice now, once for a broken toe and once for a sinus infection. Both times I saw a PA, not a Dr. I definitely agree that the service is better and more welcoming than Duke Urgent Care on Fayetteville Rd.; At Fast Med they are very friendly, all Fast Med staff appear to care about your time AND care about making you feel better. I made the mistake of not following up later with an orthopedic practice for the broken toe, so I caution you to remember this is good urgent care for common, minor health issues but not a substitute for specialists when you need them, and I think they would be the first to tell you that. Check-in is pretty easy, you can leave as soon as you are treated, and they answer the phone when you have follow-up questions. A very good service. read more

Horrible. Was told a radiologist would call me to talk to me about my x-ray. Never heard from anyone. Since I have a high deductible plan I wanted to know if it would be cheaper if I used cash rather than go through the insurance company. The woman was in no mood to have to figure that out. My finance went in for arm pain. FastMed gave him an arm sling - similar to this http://www.amazon.com/Procare-Blue-Vogue-Arm-Sling/dp/B006IUSUU8 and charged us $175 for it. ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS. Apparently they use an outside medical supplier called Elite Care for their orthopedic equipment needs. We went to FastMed to inquire about the ridiculous cost of the sling but no one could help us. No one had any contact information for anyone from Elite Care or could do anything about it. No wonder why healthcare is so expensive - places like FastMed use outside providers who only care about making money to source their medical devices and they don't care how their customers are affected. I had to come here for a pre-employment drug test. The woman at the front desk must have been in a bad mood, because her greeting and dealings with me were dry and short. The form said items with asterisks were required to be filled out, so those are what I filled out. When I took the form back to her, she told me, rather rudely, that they needed a contact number. Well, there wasn't an asterik next to that box. Then she wanted me to sign the back. I'm not here for medical treatment, and didn't want to authorize them to perform medical procedures on me. She said I had to sign, or they couldn't administer the drug test. That's not cool. I already have a doctor and would go there if I needed medical attention. My experience was not a pleasant one. Brought my violently ill 72 year old mother in at noon on a Friday... after waiting for 1.5hrs we left without being seen. It would've been more convenient and helpful to drive to the country club, wait for a physician to emerge, and offer to carry his golf bag to his car in exchange for some on-the-spot medical care. I really do caution people in going here. I even gave them a second chance, but never again. My first visit over a year ago went well until I took the CD of my X-ray to Triangle Orthopedics, where I was advised to go for further urgent care, and Triangle Orthopedics could not even read the X-ray. The best they could do was see a thumbnail photo which the doctor commented he could not believe my watch had been left on for a hand/wrist X-ray. I of course then had to get a second X-ray. My second visit here was again for X-rays after I tried two other places first (fails of cheap insurance). Not only did it take two technicians to figure out how to work the machine but they admitted to not understanding the chart of radiation dosage. They took several X-rays at various distances (broken ribs) and didn't always use the lead skirt. There went my ovaries. I even had to ask, "shouldn't I take off my underwire bra" and got an "oh yeah". The response from the practitioner, Rachel, on sight, "our machine is old and finicky". I was also told I did not have broken ribs after her review of the digital X-ray. She was wrong. Another lab determined I did. I left there very scared for my health and I should have walked out while watching them try and figure out the machine. read more

When I checked in there was no wait time but when I got there I had to wait behind 6 other people. So their "zip pass" is very deceiving. It really means nothing, at least at this location. I went into this clinic on Sunday. There was one other patient waiting to be seen. The front desk staff was so rude. I told her I had a bug bite on my leg that was infected and I needed to get it looked at. Immediately she said ma'am you will need to go to the Chapel Hill office because our X-ray machine is down. I said I have a bug bite, I do not need a x-ray. She proceeded to question me and say are you sure. While I am not a nurse I do work in the medical field, and do know I did not need an x-ray. She asked for my insurance card, which I never got, so I said I have a copy of it on my phone, she refused to look at my phone. She made me take a picture of it with my daughters phone and e-mail it to her. I am sorry but your clinic is typically for sick people they come because they do not feel well. The last thing they need at the front desk checking them in is a rude person that doesn't care about how they feel!!! A little bit of compassion would be great! Lastly I came into the clinic with my 12 year old daughter and 2.5 year old granddaughter. When the PA wanted to take me back to the trauma room I left them in the office we were in. I was told they could not be left in that room unattended. By state law my daughter is old enough to watch my granddaughter for up to 2 hours. But they would not allow it and made them come in the trauma room with me, and witness the PA numbing and cutting my leg open. I was told to come back in 2 days, but I can tell you I would not take my dying dog to this clinic! I went to Duke Urgent Care and saw another PA that used to work at FastMed (which I didn't know until after I told him about my experience), and told him about  what happened. He said that is why he left they cannot get good office staff. Such a shame for a facility that nice. Educate your staff to be more compassionate, and caring..... patient's needs are more important. AND REMEMBER THAT PATIENT REALLY DOESN'T WANT TO BE THERE EITHER BUT THE DO NOT FEEL WELL! read more

Terrible place. Visited on April 10th 2017. The receptionist at the front was very rude and had a attitude that made me feel she could care less about me or anyone else in the office. The medical assistant that escorted me to the exam room was no different. I scheduled an appt online and arrived 10 min early as requested, but still waited over a hour to be seen. The clinic only had two other people in the waiting area and when I went back to the exam room it was deserted back there. I'll never go back. Or at least bring a print out of: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/professionals/acip/clinical.htm The health provider did not know 2 of the 6 common symptoms of the flu (including fever!), did not know incubation times, and did not know how bad the test she kept trying to sell me was at actually detecting the flu. I am a healthcare professional, had known exposure to the flu, and had a textbook presentation of symptoms and I had to fight to get tamiflu. Not fun especially when sick. I will state that I had a previous experience with them and it was actually decent. However, knowing flu signs, incubation time, and treatment is very, very basic. I would not go back there unless there was absolutely no other providers availible, and I would not feel safe or comfortable. read more

Came in to urgent care, and the receptionist was friendly. I did not have to wait long, and there were 2 other people in the waiting room. They must've done some re-training based on the reviews because the front desk sounded attentive to all patients, and I was only half-listening because I was in pain. This was a weekday, late afternoon. Once I was admitted, the PA took my BP which was initially sky-high and told me to relax and it dropped on the next reading to something quite normal, 125/70 which was still high for me but better. I waited about 10 minutes when Dr. Cho came in who was very friendly, did an exam and was very thorough discussing my options. What blew me away was the time the doctor spent treating me. This was the opposite of sitting for HOURS and then having an ER doctor see me for less than 5 minutes. My injury wasn't critical, but very uncomfortable. I am so happy Urgent Care was only 5 minutes away from home. They followed up with phone calls and I feel much better. Back to getting some rest... read more

Went for a drug test. 1 hr 30 min wait. 5 people there. Building was freezing, guess they can't pay for heat. The only thing fast about here is the time to your wallet. Before giving me the cup to pee in, she did not have me watch her remove it from the sterile plastic wrap. How do I know that the cup was new and not previously used? After giving the sample, I asked to verify the sample id numbers on the containers and the nurse looked at me as if I had 3 heads, like I was insulting her for wanting to verify that the information was accurate. Every other pee test I have ever taken always had me verify sample numbers, not this place. Save your money and your time, go somewhere else. I went on a Sunday afternoon with flue like symptoms and explained I had had a fever for 4 days. The doctor listened to my lungs, took my temp and gave me a flue test (came back negative). They told me I had a flue for which they had no test or a virus. On Tuesday morning I went to my own doctor where one listen of my lungs lead to a chest xray with a diagnosis of bacterial pneumonia. My doctor indicated I had had it for a while. This was big miss for fastmed. I would not go back there again. read more

I needed to go to FastMed after work for an employee drug screen. I arrived after work and there was only one person waiting ahead of me. "Great!" I thought. "I'll be in and out!" Wrong. I waited over an hour to pee in a cup with only one person ahead of me. Some other people walked in later and wondered where to check in or what to do since there was no one at the front desk at the moment. When I was signing the paperwork saying I had been given the privacy policy to review, I had to request that the policy be given to me for review before I signed . Additionally, when I was in the back waiting for my screen, I saw the drivers license of another customer sitting out in the open. This was concerning. I wasn't expecting my visit to be fun, but I was surprised with the lack of staffing and professionalism. If you need a quick drug test with a long wait, this place will get the job done. If you need urgent care or a pleasant experience, I would look elsewhere. read more

My daughter had a drug test at this location. First time she'd ever done this. We arrived early, 8:30. Only one other person there. She didn't get called back until 10:15. She flushed, force of habit. They should have accepted her sample. They pick and choose when they let you slide. So they made her wait to give another sample. 45 minutes later, they tell her it isn't enough. She needs to wait another hour. At this time, it's 11:30. The manager was an unprofessional older black woman with blue eyeshadow. I'm black so this experience is rubbing me because I'm sick of how we carry ourselves. I was speaking to my child and my girlfriend regarding the terrible service at this place. The manager decides to interject herself into my conversation. I went off. This is completely out of character for me. I'm pretty patient and calm. The bottom line, go somewhere else. You'll be there all day and get disrespected the entire time. read more

After the initial interaction with the receptionist, I will never visit this location again. My insurance card had expired, but I still have coverage. When I asked if it were possible to call the insurance company to verify my coverage, I was told that they weren't affiliated with the insurance company. She then went on to tell me that I could pay the full rate and pointed to a sign on the desk. When I asked again if it were possible to call the company to simply verify my insurance, I was told that wasn't her job and that I could do it and have them fax my information. I said ok and asked for the fax number. Then I was told in the most condescending voice possible that it was right there on the card and that I needed settle down. I asked for the items that I had given back and left. If the waiting room had been full, I might understand not being able to take a couple of minutes to verify insurance coverage. Then again, don't they have to verify coverage of each patient before treatment anyways? That being said, I was the only person there, and it seems the receptionist preferred to give a lot of attitude rather than help. read more
