I was never unhappy with the care I received. But, I have to say I felt like my annual physical was much more thorough with UCHC. The Kaiser doctor just asked questions, sat across the room and never touched me. All in all I feel like I am getting excellent health care with UCHC.

Now, we have gotten settled, but unfortunately our insurance is horrible and we make literally just above the amount to qualify for any help. We were paying $75 every appointment. Plus the cost of prescriptions and the insurance. I quit making routine appointments and made only the necessary ones. We had a $200 balance. I was in the waiting room for a pap so I could get birth control (married for over 20yrs- abstinence doesn't last) where I was called up and told I couldn't proceed with my appointment at least until I spoke with the financial department - in front of everyone! When I told the financial department that I had $20 to my name for our family of 5 for the week and couldn't afford to do anything no matter how much I would like to they responded by stating that they were going to note that I was unwilling to pay. I broke down- humiliated, embarrassed, and wanting to pay and wish I could! Then... I filled out application for their well woman's program. I was later notified I qualified for and made a new appointment. I again go in for the appointment to then hear the same lady announcing to a coworker that I can't proceed with the appointment and this time was because I in fact was not qualified as the program is only for people with no insurance. This was the second occasion I broke down in the same dang waiting room by the same lady. Turns out the program is for people with high deductibles and low incomes as well! Spent hours at each appointment because of this treatment. Moving forward each time I needed a medication fill or an appointment there has been a road block. Most recently I paid $72 on 8/14. I have a $85 balance. I called all week because I need medication refills to be given the run around of "can't refill til you have an appt". "Can't have an appointment until you talk to financial". "You paid $72 less than a month ago of course you can make an appt". Finally at 5:10pm... they'll send a message to the doctor but they don't know if they e left for the weekend and when they do respond they don't know if they'll send a bridge for your necessary medications. Also, do you think they care how much those are?! And, their treatment isn't just affecting me. I've been trying to make some bi weekly therapy appts for my son. First one was given the wrong time ( I literally was speaking to my husband while booking the appointment), second one didn't make it into their books?, now my husband had left 3 voicemails this week alone to try to get him scheduled. What is going on??? I do everything they ask me to. I may forget things at times too, but that's in my record anyways and I always try my best. I have never broken down so many times from a healthcare issue or company. It feels like we are being put through the ringer and I don't understand why. I am not a difficult person, but I will kindly stand up for myself. I used to love this place and would have referred it to everyone! Now, I hate it so much. I'm not sure what other options we have at the moment because of being fairly new to Arizona and there's not an over abundance close to us, but I will be looking elsewhere. I would keep my son going though, for his stability. Ugh. It's really sad for a healthcare company and workers who are supposed to genuinely care about each and every person they meet to treat this way. I should also state that I've spoken with the office managers/ community outreach people two or three times and it hasn't done anything. But! Lisa Kaiser is amazing and she genuinely cares about everyone!! Thank goodness for this woman! She deserves the moon!!

Not the best review... most recent visit was not what I'd expected…read more ER staff less than professional. Hearing a doctor saying loudly enough for me to hear him saying, "ok, Let's try not to kill anybody tonight" to the nursing staff... well that to me was very unprofessional. It was said loud enough that I could hear him from behind the closed doors of my treatment room. I understand the "humor"... but it still seemed inappropriate to me.

I presented at the ER last night for a possible broken foot, I dropped a very heavy object on my…read moregreat toe and the joint just below, and was in excruciating pain. I made an appointment for 10pm (FYI, don't bother with appts, they ignore them) There were perhaps two other patients. I went thru triage quickly, and was told to wait in empty hallway. In a plastic chair. I eventually went back for x-rays, and then returned to the empty hallway. About 20 minutes later, a physician (? - I dont believe he introduced himself), came out and said on initial read, he did not see a fracture, but due to the amount of pain, he wanted a more detailed look. Then I sat in that same empty hallway in that crappy plastic chair for another 45 minutes. Nothing. No "we'll be with you shortly" - NOTHING. I could hear the staff laughing and talking. I am not a "Karen," I don't complain about every little thing. EVER. But after nearly an hour, I'd finally had enough, and packed up my stuff to leave. I never raised my voice, although it was probably clear I was annoyed. Then a nurse came out, and explained to me in a VERY patronizing tone that the doctor had "other patients." I pointed out that all that was needed was for someone to just say "we know you're here," and I would've been happy to wait. That particular nurse was so condescending and rude, it was all I could do to contain my verbal response. She seriously acted like my request for very occasional updates was an outlandish request - I come from a medical family - my father was a combat medic, my husband is A RETIRED RN. I treat health care professionals like gold. But I have never been treated like this by any doctor, nurse or the guy who empties bed pans. RUDE. i do not have great insurance, that's probably a reason they just left me in the hallway. In the meantime, I cannot wear shoes, I cannot drive. And I STILL DON'T KNOW if my foot is broken. I will NEVER return to that hospital. If I'm bleeding to death, they might just leave me in the hallway.
