Back for dinner in the summer. Service and atmosphere still amazing and the food is still high…read morequality. I typically don't like sauce on my steak but the spicy and tart tomatillo sauce that is over the steak is fabulous. I like my salsa chunky but the rest of my family like the thin salsa. This is a quasi-chain but this location by far is the best!

As far as the location goes, I must say they have very limited parking spots(but we found a spot). Parking spots were tight. However, there is ample parking at the big box store across the street, and they are on a bus line. They are not near other restaurants but stand out based on the loud Mexican music and big sign that has a Mexican flag Over all the service was friendly, attentive, and quick(especially considering how packed it was) They give nachos on arrival, sort of like how restaurants normally give bread, which were okay , but the salsa was bland. The lime margarita was amazing. I got the beef enchiladas, which were tender and loaded with food didn't quite pack the punch I was hoping for. My mom and my wife got the nachos with chicken;they didn't like it. So I tried it to confirm the following: the nacho platter with chicken was bland, with very little crunch. It looked like it was sitting around for a while as far as value goes, my wife's beer was more expensive than my margarita, which is a plus if you are an alcohol drinker like me but not for a beer drinker, obviously. The portions on my plate were small, but there were so many different items on the plate that blended together fairly well that the small portions didn't matter too much. And lastly, the smell of the place was nonexistent, which is odd IMO for a small restaurant.

We stopped in Oshawa for dinner after being delayed by a nearby accident and chose Portly Piper Pub…read morebased on its 3,000+ reviews and 4.3-star rating. Parking seemed limited at first, but there's more available in the back. Just a tip: be careful not to miss the entrance, since exiting is a one-way street and re-entering can be tricky. We arrived around 6:45 pm and saw a small line with two groups ahead, but the place is much bigger than it looks from the outside and we were seated quickly in a comfortable booth for four. The pub was clean, and I was especially surprised at how spacious and tidy the washrooms were--not what I usually expect from a pub, which tend to feel older and worn. The menu is huge, and TVs are everywhere--even in our booth. Between us, we tried a good range of dishes: 1. Caprese Salad with Steak - nicely balanced with pesto, though the steak was a little dry. 2. Fish and Chips - incredible portion for $18! Crispy, perfectly cooked fish with fries, coleslaw, and even a Caesar salad. The fries were well-seasoned (no ketchup needed), coleslaw was enjoyable despite me usually not liking it, and the Caesar was delicious. 3. Mexican Salad - flavorful, fresh, and generous in portion. 4. Tuesday Wing Special - wings were $0.90 each, so I ordered 15 with a Coke Zero. The garlic Parmesan was disappointing--dry and lacking flavor--but the Buffalo ranch wings were tender and spot-on. Service was friendly, though our waitress could have been more proactive with drink and water refills. Overall, I was impressed. Clean space, huge portions, good value, and a welcoming pub atmosphere. Definitely a solid stop if you're in the area.

My husband left a 10% tip and he's an absolute 20% tipper, I've never ever seen him leave less than…read more20%!!! We were there yesterday Mar 27, 6pm to 8:45pm sat in the bar area. Server was a bit rude, extremely slow/rarely checking in, and there was a billing issue. It's too bad she made our night out feel crummy. After dinner we left and had our night cap beverage over at Jack Astors. Oh and by the way who changers another $2 for one extra bowl of nachos?? We had a friend drop by for a drink and she would not bring a bowl over for -technically- a new patron because it was for "the same table" - we jokingly told him to sit at the table beside us. Really Lone Star is that stingy now ?

There was an issue with the orders and the kitchen brought out a plate of ribs however we ordered the ancho bbq chicken Enchiladas. One of the other servers had to call our server to resolve the mix-up with the orders. Dixie returned to our table and explained to us our orders are coming soon. We waited about 25 minutes for our orders to come out. That is too long for 1 lb of wings and Enchiladas. The Enchiladas did not meet our expectations. The Enchiladas were warm not hot. The rice was dry and beans looked like canned beans. The ancho bbq chicken had nice flavor but that was the only positive. I will not order this again. The chicken wings were half price for happy hour. $9.50 for 1lb and comes with ranch or blue cheese dip and carrots. The carrots were not chopped in bite size portions. We ordered 2 x 1 lb of wings one tequila lime bbq and other one honey garlic. The wings were juicy, meaty and delicous. We also ordered 18oz Budweiser drafts for $6.29 which are part of the $3 off happy hour specials for domestic drafts. For a Friday night, the restaurant was not too busy and you would expect faster service. We did see other diners who also had to wait a long time for their orders as well. We will still give them another try as they have some good daily specials, lunch specials and the steak fajitas really looked good. PS we also didnt get the Cinco de mayo piñata offer to win prizes when we got our bill. We are disappointed however we didn't let this ruin our Friday night.
