While it may not show on the outside, once you enter La Chingada you'll be immersed amidst the energetic Dundas West crowd with some Ossington spillover mixed in. Lack of customer care during a medical emergency We are very disappointed with the way this restaurant handled a serious medical emergency that occurred during our visit on May 3, 2026. A member of our group lost consciousness shortly after consuming the food and required immediate medical attention at the establishment, followed by ambulance transport to the hospital. Fortunately, after several hours of medical evaluation, no major cardiac issues were found. What disappointed us most was not the medical incident itself, but the lack of consideration afterward by the restaurant. The meal was completely interrupted due to the emergency, yet the restaurant still charged 100% of the bill and later declined any refund or gesture of goodwill. In addition, our email was never formally answered; we only received a verbal response after following up ourselves. We understand that not every medical incident is necessarily the responsibility of the restaurant. However, we believe compassion, professionalism, and customer care are essential in situations like this, and unfortunately that was not our experience. read more

I love this place so much. The portions are big and worth the money you're spending. The food is absolutely phenomenal. I got the quesabirria tacos and it came with so much I couldn't finish it. Always in search of some good Mexican food in Toronto & I think we found a good one! Parking is on the street. There are a lot of Greenp lots and spots nearby. We were lucky to find one close to the restaurant. The restaurant ambience is amazing and is a good spot for a date night or even to hang with a few friends. The crew was wonderful! Stopped by on a Friday night and made it just in time for happy hour. It was our first time there and La Chingda definitely did not disappoint! Happy hour is everyday from 4-7pm. We ordered a few tacos, ceviche, guac and chips and margaritas which were 50% off. I enjoyed the blackened fish taco but probably would not reorder cauliflower as I found that one to be a bit too salty. The guac was alright although i wish there were more avo and less onions. I've been wanting to try this place for a while simply because of the name (don't ask/look up what it means if you're offended by cursing)! I visited with a friend for happy hour on a Tuesday and had a great meal. Margaritas are half off ($5) and I tried the Tropical Heat and it was excellent. Perfect balance of liquor and juice. We split the chips and guac and chips and pico de gallo ($5 each for happy hour). For my entree I got the chicken tinga and barbacoa tacos with a side of rice. I loved the chicken and the barbacoa was good but I was expecting more flavor from the meat. That being said, both tacos had a good balance of flavors. My friend had the fish taco and fried chicken taco and said both were very good. We really enjoyed our meal here and the service was friendly and attentive. Best nachos in the city! Definitely add the chorizo and they become top tier. Tacos were alright, out of the two I got, the chingada taco was better. It's one of the more pricier places in the city for tacos but I personally think the nachos were worth it! Looking forward to trying their AYCE tacos sometime soon! Opted out of the AYCE taco experience. $25 which is a pretty good deal. The street corn was very tasty! We had the jerk chicken, pork, beef and fish taco. The tortilla was a bit too thick for my liking. The jerk chicken and beef were dry and rough. The fish taco was average My favorite was the pork taco. The waiter almost seemed to judge us because we only ordered a few dishes. After we were about to leave, they made a remark about the amount of our tips out loud, which was the first time I've ever heard someone criticize the amount of a customers tips. Their drinks all looked great - we tried the tropical heat which had habanero infused tequila and quite the kick. The guac and chips were solid, and the tacos were good too - the carne asada had wonderfully juicy meat, and the hot sauce on the side paired with it perfectly. Their tacos are on the expensive side but also pretty large in size, and probably took about 10 bites to finish. Big ass tacos. Do I need to say anything else? I've had a lot of tacos around the city and these are definitely the biggest. Around $6.50ea, I was reluctant to buy 2 until they arrived. I wasn't sure I'd finish them. Delicious and stuff with toppings that will probably fall out of the taco. Came here with a group of friends (on the recommendation of friends) and was not disappointed! They have recently opened back in February and already are a big hit. They don't take reservations (at least not when we went, not sure if they do now, seeing how busy this place is). The ingredients they use are top quality and they make their own tortillas. I ordered the fish tacos - blackened basa, slaw for that crunchy texture and a smokey chipotle mayo that gives its that final punch of flavour for your taste buds. Ordered a bunch of churros for the table - soft and crispy, drizzled with powdered sugar and dulce de leche. If people weren't around I'd probably lick the plate...but i have class (well, at least when I go out and know people are watching me...lol) The decor is fun - cool murals on the walls, the vibe is fun and the service is great! We came here for dinner and had a really positive experience. We ordered the platter and two tacos to share. Both of our tacos were great and the platter had three types of meat (two different pork and beef which did contain gluten) and different vegetables and sides for us to put on our corn tortillas. We found this to be plenty of food for two people and it was really good. The Service was a little on the slow side but if you don't mind waiting, it's definitely worth checking out. read more

La Chingada is located on the north side of Dundas just east of Dovercourt. It's not often I have the opportunity of going to soft openings of places that aren't officially open yet. I was searching for a place to grab a quick small bite and have a drink before going to the Stephen Bulger Gallery just down the street. I didn't find much interesting between Gladstone and Dovercourt so I decided to walk a bit further east and I see "Mexican street food". Hello, harbor in the storm. So I discovered that La Chingada has only opened 5 days ago and not even officially yet. Their official opening is this Friday (March 1st). I really had only about half an hour to order, eat and get to our event so I thought this was a perfect spot. I'll admit that I too am spoiled by Mexican food from southern California. It's a snob thing kind of how my wife scoffs at things like the Olive Garden or Pizza Hut Italian Bistro trying to pass off their cuisine as Italian. I get it. People are used to places that serve the best of the best and once they are spoiled it's hard to dial things back to whatever may be available to us. In this case, La Chingada is not only north of Bloor, north of the US border but also north of the Mexican border as well. Let me just say that regardless of geography this place serves some of the best tacos I've ever had the opportunity of tasting. So while I had ordered 6 different tacos this was within 2 visits within 3 hours of each other. Honestly I wasn't planning on going back so soon but one of my friends that wasn't with my other friend and I the first time wanted to give it a try after I had spoken just going there. The first visit I had ordered the barbacoa, tinga de pollo, carnitas and chorizo. The barbacoa and chicken were my friend's order but I had a taste of the barbacoa and the beef was rich and full of flavor. I loved the compliment of the tangy queso fresca that topped it as well. My plate consisted of the carnitas and the chorizo. Chorizo is normally my favorite filling and while it was a solid savory choice I had to give it up to what I thought was the true champion of the evening which was the carnitas. I loved the bit of crisp to the pulled pork and the meat was very juicy but not wet. Does that even make sense? I normally really enjoy carnitas but these were beyond that. These were without a doubt the best carnitas I've had. My wife makes carnitas and thankfully, she won't read this review. It's ok because we'll end up coming here sometime soon and she'll get to try them and I won't need to say anything. It's sort of the equivalent of watching a movie and my wife saying wow, that actress is so pretty. Ya, I just won't answer because it's a trap. The second visit my friend that didn't come the first time ordered the chicharrone. These weren't the kind of pork rinds you find in a plastic bag at the grocery store chip aisle. Dang these were huge pieces of rind. I had to break pieces apart because they were so big. The rinds came with tomatoes, a green salsa and some guacamole. For my second round I had ended up ordering the blackened fish and carne asada. The fish was very good, grilled with a flaky texture. I forgot to ask what fish they used but it wasn't a strong flavor and a lighter fish. The carne asada was also very good and very filling. The portions here seem quite generous but the quality and mix of flavors are all pretty well balanced. I liked the variety, presentation, flavors and overall quality of the food here. The tortillas are real deal corn tortillas with a dense integrity. There's no need to "double up" since they aren't thin and won't disintegrate because of the filling. These tacos although they are quite filled (some filling may fall out) I found kept their shape and they didn't fall apart and weren't awkward. Being able to pick them up and eat them to me is a huge plus. If you've been to other places perhaps you'll know what I mean when I say sometimes you just can't do that but here it's all good. Both times we had the same server and both times she was very friendly and helpful. I think it was just serendipity coming across La Chingada while looking for a place to eat. Alright, I better review this place before I'm late to the party. If they keep up with the quality they provided when I visited, you can expect them to become renown in the area and even the city. When that happens, I'll proudly remind people that I first visited before their grand opening. I had the tinga de pollo and barbacoa. I'm not sure it's necessary to break down the ingredients as many are familiar with Mexican food. They key is that the food quality and preparation are exceptional here. It's hard to avoid cliches such as "texture" "fully seasoned" "done right" "full of flavour" when describing the food here, but that's exactly how my experience was. They are clearly using great ingredients, even down to the tortillas which are better than most places. As they say "good food makes good food". I would also add they everything was exceptionally fresh and the prices are fair. Can't wait to go back and hope that they can keep this up. read more

Stopped by for a quick late night snack after a meal that left me hungry. It was a Wednesday night and the place still had some tables free. I went for the special of a chorizo taco and Sol beer for 10 dollars. Not bad. I added a grilled fish taco. I have to say it is rare to get a grilled not fired piece of fish. It was outstanding. Recently stopped by on a Sunday, and then retaliated that is been here earlier this year as well haha. Both times were similar in experience - meaning good service and good food. The margaritas are yummy and proper. The decor is bright and fun. When we came most recently it was a bit slow and close to kitchen closing so they gave us extra meat on our platter - which I thought was nice. Their churros are delicious - crisp on the outside and soft inside served with spiced hot chocolate to dip. The chorizo empanadas were also top notch and made fresh to order. Gem of a find. My brother had this bookmarked since we landed in Toronto and we finally came here for lunch today. So pleased we did! Ordered: (Food) Taste of Mexico platter - amazing value (good size) and the perfect way to try different things. We found the chorizo too salty for our taste, but everything else was fantastic. Pastor and grilled pineapple combination were excellent together, carne Asada was perfectly cooked. I think this is between a 3 and a 4. I enjoyed the tacos, the chicken one was really very tasty. But what a mess to eat, the wrap was very soft and fell apart but it all had a wonderful taste, lots of flavours. I had the melted cheese starter with chorizo, it was ok. I personally don't like the corn wrap they make here. They are thick and heavy and really doesn't add anything to the cheese dip. We had the chips and dip to start with. There was were some very nice dips here from chillies and guacamole too. The chips are quite salty though, be warned. I really wanted to love this place fully because the staff are so nice, and the patio was so cute and uniquely coloured and designed. But, there was a slightly wafting smell of garbage surrounding the patio that made the experience slightly unappetizing. We could have moved inside but it was such a nice day for the shaded patio. We ordered the DIY platter; wish we had just ordered the pre-made tacos which looked a lot more appealing. It was a decent amount of food for two, but there was something lacking in seasoning in the meat. The sauces were okay, but nothing special to add that extra bit of flavour.
