We were looking for a snack during our drive from Zion to Las Vegas, and found this bakery right off the highway. We decided on the sugar cookie, brown butter chocolate chip, peanut butter, and a bear claw. The cookies were all amazing- soft, just baked, and so flavorful. They were also huge. The bear claw was also really good with a nice almond flavor. If you're taking that drive or live in the area, I definitely recommend popping in for a snack to go. read more

Fat Dough Bakery is a cute, clean little bakery tucked into a small strip mall. I tried the bagel, which was good--not spectacular, but definitely enjoyable. One thing to note: they only offer plain schmear, and they don't have any cream cheese available in tubs to take home, which would be a nice addition. My wife had the cheese Danish, and that was very good. The selection is fairly small, but what really stood out were the cookies--they are fantastic! Definitely worth grabbing a few. Stopped by this spot while heading out to Vegas, located in the corner of an unassuming plaza it had plenty of parking available. We walked in and were greeted by the employees working. I honestly had thought this was more of a donut shop when driving by but it in fact did not have any! It's an open kitchen/bakery, so shop in the front but you can see what they are doing in the back. Not pictured (my fault!) were the bagel sandwiches made to order in which my party got two. I chose to have egg and bacon on a jalapeño bagel but there is also a plain and I believe sesame option. My kids got the macaroons and cake balls. We also got a cinnamon roll - I was sad it was not warmed for us but also I did not ask so that may be an option? It was soft and delicious however. And my dad snagged some day old oatmeal cookies on their 50% off rack. They had fresh bread loves ranging from $10-12 as well on their rack. They had some very good looking pastries however that we did not get. Puff pastry and cream swan and sweet empanadas filled with raisin and blueberries respectively. Discreet bakery on an end of a small business mall with minimal seating inside and out. Went late on a Monday, so I knew there was a chance they wouldn't have much. But I still came away with a haul of yummy treats. Cookies were soft and a bit sweeter than I'd like, but still great, best was the pb one. Bear claw and muffins were delightful. The complimentary croissants an unexpected bonus of flaky goodness and made an egg-cellent sandwich later that week. The empanada I wish was actual flaky pastry vs more like a shortbread cookie that was filled. The coconut macaroon that had nuts cranberries and white chocolate chips was something I could eat every day. I had a Reuben in addition, but that is the one thing I'd say Skip. The bread and meat were fine, meat was a bit fatty but the major flaw was the sauerkraut was cold and flavorless and very wet, so it watered down the dressing and made the sandwich soggy in moments. What an awful experience to eat a soggy sandwich. I did my best to eat whatever meat/bread I could but most of it landed in the trash. It wasn't a cheap sandwich either. Guy at the counter was friendly and even suggested I come back the next morning for a fuller selection but I told him I already had more than enough and I was buying for two as it is. Will definitely return in the earlier hours anytime I'm near Mesquite. Only closed on Sundays. read more

Fantastic! I came in for a sticky roll, which looked delicious, but the lady at the counter offered me a free sample of bean and beef soup. I tried it and I was sold. It was as good as my mother's homemade soup. The soup is ultimately what I ordered and did not regret. Stopped off on our trip from Las Vegas to Zion, grabbed a couple bagels which were excellent, both buttery and tasty. Everything is made in house which just makes that much better. The staff is friendly and helpful. This place is worth the stop off the freeway to grab a treat or quick bite. YUM! had the half and half with a turkey sandwich on the most delicious cheddar jalapeno bread & broccoli cheddar soup. it was a great lunch! the sweetest employees sent the kids home with cookies and we also left with a loaf of sourdough bread.. I was really hoping to get a good lunch here but was sooo disappointed by the sandwich. I ordered half a sandwich and soup. The soup was good the sandwich was really bad. Very little mayo and one slice of turkey that was so thin that I could barely see it and it didn't cover the whole sandwich. One slice of bread was part of the end of the loaf. I have been in Fat Dough Bakery twice since they opened. Today I was in at noon and they were out of most items. I purchased one loaf of bread that cost $12. It was ok but that price is outrageous. I can buy authentic French bread for far less at other bakeries. I am used to buying bread at Zingerman's in Ann Arbor, MI that is real artisan bread. The bread at Costco is far better than the bread at Fat Dough at a more reasonable price. read more

The first time I visited there wast much left but I did get a brownie. Why I'm not sure because I don't like brownies. it was awesome! it literally melted in my mouth except for the corner and it was chewy and fabulous. Hubby and I visited last week. I got a bagel and he got the sour dough soup bowl. apparently the bread was good because I didn't even get to taste it. The bagel was soft and delicious. And in spite of not liking brownies I got another one. it was as awesome as the first one I had. I had a sample of their lemon curd cookie and although I find $5 a bit much for a cookie, I'm getting one the next time Im there! The staff has been friendly every time I've been there. More like a neighbor than a salesclerk. Today they insisted we try a sample of their soup and my husband said it was delicious. I'll be going back for soup one day soon. read more
