The service was friendly. You can tell the restaurant is a little dated but it was okay. The chair rails need to be painted but the tables and chairs were clean and the restaurant was odor free. It's in a convenient location right beside Walmart. We went on a Monday evening so it wasn't very busy. We ordered a cheeseburger very well done and fries to share. The food was good. So I saw the ratings but we just wanted something easy before going back to the hotel. It's clean, and staff were friendly. The fish are cool and the place is well lit. The food is what you'd get in a nice retirement home. Perfectly servicable but almost without flavor. We had burgers and an order of wings. All of our was cooked as ordered. Greeter/Host was very kind and friendly. The waitress seemed she couldn't care less but wasn't rude just not personable. The food was mediocre. We had chicken hibachi, shrimp jammers, Southwestern egg rolls (great consistency and portion size however the ranch was bland and salty and the contents of the egg rolls weren't seasoned) and had salted caramel crunch cake. The cake was very dense and didn't not give salted caramel. The shrimp jammers were cooked too hard and all of the sauces were salty (should've been cooked 30-45 seconds less and paired and sweet and spicy Asian sauce. The hibachi was salty (the teriyaki was very salty). I did not have anything that makes me want to return. Very spacious and had indoor and outdoor seating. Booth seating and table seating. I was extremely disappointed with the condition of this restaurant. As soon as we walked in, there was food all over the floor in the front dining area, dirty water pitchers were left sitting on multiple tables, and no one appeared to be cleaning. Instead, several waiters were gathered near the kitchen chatting and laughing while the dining room was neglected. What really stood out was when the hosts seated a couple in this filthy section. The couple took one look around, immediately got back up, and walked out. As they were leaving, one of them said, "Do you see all the food on the floor?" A clean dining room is the bare minimum customers should expect. Seeing staff standing around while the restaurant was in such poor condition made the experience even more disappointing. We have been here several times over the years. Always have great service. Staff are polite and quick to get what you request. I have had the chicken Alfredo in the past and was not impressed. If you are into heavily processed foods, then this may be your place. The fried chicken was dry, the gravy they put on the potatoes and country steak was powdered and the country steak was tasteless. Our fault for not asking for gravy on the side. Very MCL Cafeteria tasting food (for those that remember those). Sweet tea and service gets them a 2 star review, food was a 1 and done. Asked a local later in the day if they ate here and they said no, this place was sold and the food isn't good since the new owners took over. A lot of the 5 star ratings are from the old ownership. This is one is few decent non-chain and fast food restaurants in Walterboro. It can be hit or miss, especially, depending on what you order.The most recent visit I ordered the smoky chicken lunch special. That was the smaller chicken breast I've seen before. The menu describes it as a grilled chicken breast topped with smoky barbecue sauce, cheese, & bacon. Look at the picture I've posted of the slice of American cheese not fully melted topped with bacon bits. SMH. No bueno. It was not what I was expecting and it was overcooked. I would not order it again. The fried okra and the green beans could've used a little extra seasoning. The fried okra had so much grease in it I had indigestion for 2 days! My husband said the chopped steak is good. I may have to try that next time. I did mention they're one of few non-chain and fast food restaurants, right? There aren't many options in this small town to choose from. We came at the tail end of a typical lunch hour and arrived ~1:30 pm. It was not crowded, yet service was slow to be greeted, receive water refills, & the check. The ambience is casual. They have a small bar. The restrooms have been clean when I've visited. Arrived for late lunch / early dinner on Father's Day and you could tell the place had been real busy as the floors were a disaster with food bits / crumbs everywhere... nonetheless, my party ordered the fried shrimp platter, beef lo mein from hibachi menu, and hamburger steak platter. Fried shrimp and fries were nicely breaded and fried; would order again. Beef lo mein was made with spaghetti pasta so not that authentic, but beef was nice and portion was good. I got the mushroom and Swiss burger well done which came out absolutely perfect and well seasoned with fresh crunchy French fries and my friend got the salmon with mashed potatoes and green beans which she gave a 10/10 we got there after 9 and they close at 10 and they were very accommodating and didn't rush us out! The restaurant was well lit like i like it not overly bright but not too dim either with a beautiful koi pond out front! Definitely recommend if traveling i95 or in the area! read more

A better option than fast food along I- 95. Convenient to get to and have both inside and outside seating (dog friendly). Usual Diner menu options with a daily plate special. Miss Haley quickly took care of us with charm and smiles. My salmon filet was indeed perfectly cooked and perfectly sized. ( taking some home ). Side Salad was cold and all ingredients were very fresh . Green beans were green beans out if a can but everything else was home cooked! Hubby's chef salad was massive: enough for two meals! The teriyaki chicken , red rice and fried okra were excellent and my wife's fish,baked potato, fried okra and cornbread was definitely a lot for a lunch special. On our drive back to Florida after a grea visit with the folks we always like to find some thing different and local to stop at for lunch. Came across this place and it was well reviewed and liked so here we are! Place was very busy so you know it has to be good. We started to wait for a table but that was looking like a bit of a wait so we grabbed an open high top in the bar. Lots of home style items on the menu. Hard to choose. Menu says only market price for a ribeye but what I was served was a chuckeye (aka 'the poor man's ribeye') so that's about 40% over market price for that cut and grossly misleading. It being earlier in the afternoon, maybe about 3 the ambience was relaxed with not too many people. Beautiful artwork on the walls. The chicken tenders were well seasoned and tasted amazing. Just OK. I was seated right away. Nice laminated drink menus but dirty paper food menus. Kind of told me where the bulk of business comes from. The menu doesn't say if the burgers come with a side so I had to ask. They do. I ordered the black and blue burger. Seasoned burger, bacon and blue cheese with the usual toppings. It came out really fast. The bacon was fine and the veggies were fresh. There was hardly enough blue cheese to cover the bacon. The burger looked like one of the frozen burgers that came out of a box. Good thing they put Cajun seasoning on it because that was the only flavor I could taste in the burger. Great place to go. Overall great experience. Our family dined here on a Saturday late afternoon/evening. Parking was at a bit of a premium and we were worried we'd have to wait for a long time. Happily, we got seated within 10 or 15 minutes. They delivered on this promise because I had called ahead of time to see if we needed reservations, which they do not take. I was told that they would seat us within 15 minutes. Good job! The four of us adults, all enjoyed our meals: Three hamburger steaks and my black and blue burger were all perfectly done and served hot. Our orders were all correct and our drinks were kept full. There is a regular variety of Southern or traditional American dishes. We were too full after eating our meals to order desert. Maybe next time. (The picture I've attached shows a little bit of a squished burger. I had already grabbed it and began to squish it down. Trust me, it was definitely a big, juicy burger with a fresh bun.) Our server was quick and courteous, didn't go over the top to be friendly or chatty, but not everybody is like that or likes that. While we were there, there was an unrelated medical emergency with one of the guests. The staff and manager acted quickly and appropriately. They were all concerned about the person being tended to by the EMS. Really nice to see that the team were genuinely concerned and wanted to make sure their guest was taken care of right away. The only reason there aren't 5 stars is that the place needs a good cleaning. A lot of these chain family restaurants seem to have a bit of an old "crusty" feeling to them. Perhaps a deep cleaning and some fresh paint, especially in the bathroom area would be great. Same with the front waiting area. Wheelchair accessible. The coffee was like water, as though they ran the pot of coffee on the previously used coffee grounds, or just didn't measure the ground coffee correctly. I had whatever was a special that day - a chicken with cheese type of platter. The piece of chicken was tiny - like 3 bites tiny, albeit very tasty. Considering my dietary needs, that was probably for the better. The restaurant was clean, nicely set up, and the service was okay. I wish I could give this place zero stars. What was supposed to be a nice family dinner turned into a heartbreaking experience I'll never forget -- and one my children are still trying to make sense of. From the moment we walked in, we were met with cold stares. I tried to brush it off, thinking maybe I was overreacting, but it quickly became clear that we were not welcome. While other tables were greeted warmly and served promptly, we were ignored. After waiting over 20 minutes just for water -- while customers who came in after us were already eating -- I approached a staff member to ask if we could place our order. She looked me up and down and said, "You people always want something for nothing." I was stunned. My children -- just trying to enjoy a meal -- looked up at me confused and afraid. I tried to hold it together, but when another server came by and muttered a slur under her breath loud enough for us to hear, I lost it. My kids started crying, asking why we were being treated that way, and I had no answer for them. We left without eating. No family, no person, should ever be made to feel less than human -- especially not in front of their children. This place needs to be held accountable for the way they treat people. We will never go back, and I'll be telling everyone I know to do the same. read more
