I hardly write reviews. I usually give the business I chance to make it good but I was pushed back from my complaint tonight. I ordered chicken liver meal, 4 piece chicken meal and two shakes. Chicken liver was very dry, almost burnt with over done onion rings. 4 piece chicken (I ordered 4 legs only) and I got one leg and three drummies with again over done onion rings. I got a chocolate and vanilla shake and was told they had chocolate ice cream finally and not chocolate syrup mixed with ice cream. I watched them make it and that they told the truth. I wrote asking the manager to call me and make good and they posted that the legs are what they always serve.... Not! read more

My first time visiting here,however my wife grew up in this town and on DairyLand food and ice cream. I ordered the fried chicken (you can order by the pieces),2 thighs and a breast with a side order of Beer battered onion rings and you get a buttery roll also had a deliciously chocolate shake. My wife had 8 piece wingettes onion rings also a buttery roll and strawberry shake. Food was prepared with perfection, will definitely be returning to dairyland and the prices are very reasonable. By far my most FAVORITE restaurant in my hometown! I absolutely love every single meal I've had from here. The ice cream tastes even better from coming from here lol! My personal favorite is the hot wing basket, but you can't go wrong ordering their double Jack cheese basket (very large cheese burger). Top it off with their delicious sweet tea & you've got yourself perfect hometown meal (also locally owned). 4 stars, because I'm always waiting longer than the said pickup time. Be prepared to wait close to 45 minutes for your meal. Love this place, but I hate being told to pickup my food in 20 minutes & then waiting another 20 waiting in the parking lot. read more

Have visited three times now. Someone told me they had the best burgers, so the first time there I had a burger and fries. The burger was OK, but not exceptional. The second time I went, I tried chicken livers, and these were absolutely perfect! The last time I visited I had a BLT and fries, which was also very good. I had a coffee milkshake, which was one of the better coffee milkshakes I've ever had. so far the food has been very good, the service could definitely be better. The servers are not always very friendly at the window. The place can be very busy and you have to wait if you don't call in an order ahead of time. Dairy-Land is a great stop about 4 miles off I-95 in Walterboro, South Carolina. It's sort of a mid-point stop for us between Tallahassee and Baltimore. This is an old-timey drive up restaurant. There are a couple of picnic tables outside. You approach one of the two windows, order your food and drinks, then wait outside for your name to be called. The hamburgers, fries and milkshakes hit the spot for lunch on a long roadtrip. This is fast food type, but they make everything to order. So depending on the crowd gathering outside, you may be waiting a little bit for your order. In the hot sun, the milkshakes hit the spot, banana, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla to name a few. Prices are reasonable overall. You can call ahead, which we have yet to do. Dairy-Land harkens to the nostalgic past. It's a great place for those who enjoy supporting local restaurants. read more

I work for a company that has a branch across the street. A few times a year I may visit this location. I was always told that I must try the cheeseburger from Dairy Land. After 8 years, I finally gave in. I was extremely underwhelmed. The burger and fries were comparable to an elementary school cafeteria burger and fries. It wasn't bad but it wasn't that great either. It was like if you bought a burger from a little league baseball concession stand. It was ok. Not worth the 30 minute wait. Soft serve cream and more. After a hot drive to Charleston, we side tracked ourselves to Dairy-Land. What a great choice. This small drive in has a full menu, (I'm told everything is made to order). But we came for the ice cream. My spouse had large cup and I had a vanilla milk shake. Both were outstanding. The milk shake was so thick, it lasted for another 40 miles. The service is very friendly, and the food (usually) very good. However, The wait is very long. All I ordered was a hamburger and it took exactly 30 minutes (no that isn't an exaggeration). Definitely don't go at "peak" times (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). The line gets very long. Your best bet is to call ahead before you come. ZERO STARS! I called dairy land @9:12 am and put in 3 breakfast orders. I was told by a young lady it would be ready in 15 mins. We arrived in about 15mins. When we arrived we paid for the order then we waited 20 mins for the incorrect order. We were given the wrong order we ordered 3 plates but was only given 2. We waited an additional 10 mins for the last plate. No one apologized for the the inconvenience that was caused and just acted really nonchalant and careless. Never Again! read more

This is one of those great little American Drive Up restaurants that you'll surely make into one of your favorite go to spots. The name may lead you to believe it's just ice cream but it's not. Even though the ice cream is enough reason to stop there's so much more. They have all those Drive-thu favorites like Fried Chicken, Burgers, Pulled Pork Sandwiches, Hotdogs, and even Liver and Gizzards (if you're into that sort of thing). They even serve Breakfast! Though I've never tried their breakfast plates, they are a famous breakfast stop in Walterboro. In my experiences, the staff has always been very sweet. This can be difficult because I've witnessed them having to deal with a lot of rude customers who are mad about the wait. Which brings me to my next point, if you are getting any hot prepared food (everything other than ice cream) do yourself a favor and call ahead! If you don't, be prepared to wait a while. It's funny because my husband came for two weeks once when I was deployed and he said I had the best burgers from this Dairyland spot. Everything is good to me period. No questions asked. Dairy-Land is a very unique little place, which has recently re-opened after a fire nearly destroyed the kitchen. The ice cream is great and comes as a cone, a sundae or a milkshake. The burgers are homemade and freshly made after you order, so they are hot and delicious...with a truly juicy burger at the center! Their baskets are also great choices, whether shrimp, chicken or burger baskets. The important thing to remember is that you pull up to the drive in and go to the window to order. Then they make the food! It does take time, especially if there are other customers already waiting. The breakfast menu is rather limited, but the choices are local favorites, like grits and eggs, sausage biscuits and other simple breakfast. It is all good, however. Go and see for yourself! read more
