It's a very unassuming place. Extremely casual. Walk in find a seat. Walk to register, order and eat. Most people grab the buffet. It's one price per age group 14-61 $20 that includes the buffet and your drink and tax! They had a variety of food, only one BBQ item at this time of day, which was pulled pork. They had a variety of squeeze bottles with sauces, Smoky, mild, spicy, vinegar. They had rice, black eyed peas, sweet potatoes, cole slaw, hush puppies, corn nuggets, Mac and cheese also some desserts: banana pudding, peach cobbler. The star was their fried chicken though. Crispy skin and juicy and delicious. Would return just for that. They do say that have specials for their ribs but didn't get a chance for those this day and they do have takeout. This place is always a hit with my family! Fried chicken, pulled pork, Mac n cheese, hash and rice, green beans, stewed tomatoes, corn fritters, black eyed peas, lime beans, home made chips and banana pudding is what we all usually end up with. We frequently just order to-go plates which will last us 2-3 meals easily. This is the ONLY place that I will eat hash at and I could literally drink their stuff! Lines definitely can back up both inside and out so don't expect to just run in and out. But the line let's you know it's good! They do call ahead orders, but still have to get in a line to pick it up which is kind of a pain. Still worth it though! Definitely recommend! read more

Dukes is what you think about when thinking good old fashioned bar-b-que. The atmosphere is homey like being in a southern house for dinner. The buffet has the best os southern cooking. The pulled pork melted in your mouth. It's a bit pricey but well worth it in the long run. read more

Duke's turned a lemon into lemonade for us today. We were detoured from 95's severe traffic using GPS. Starting to feel hangry we kept eyes open for a place to eat. A Duke's BBQ large billboard sent us down a Walterboro road. Not normally buffet people but the restaurant was crowded and the choices at the bar did look pretty good. Our eyes did not deceive! BBQ was tender without any fat. Duke's sauce takes it to the next level! Collard greens (with Pete's IYKYN) was just like my grandma's. Indulged with fried okra. Finished off our meal with banana pudding. All delicious! The only thing I probably wouldn't put on my plate again is the mac n cheese. Nothing fancy here just good food. I had the buffet. Pulled pork, fried chicken and hash with rice. Many vegetable options and a dessert. Styrofoam plates that you throw away yourself, fill your own drink and clean your own table. They all for a tip when you pay so that is minus 1 start for me. They didn't do anything but cook food, why am I tipping? Every table had a loaf of white bread on it so you could just open the bag and grab some. I am not sure how this isn't a heath code violation. This was my second bbq joint meal during my sojourn to and from Myrtle Beach and if I judged SC bbq by the 2, I would be wondering where's the smoke? The pork shoulder had no smoky flavor. Is bbq in SC all about the sauce? The pork without sauce could have been done in an oven. It tasted alright but adding sauce helped me think of bbq. The bbq mush dish that reminded me of the bbq at a "famous" bbq joint south of Atlanta was tasty over the rice. A true comfort food taste but I sure wouldn't pay the buffet price just for that. There were other meat choices on the buffet but no other bbq options. There was fried chicken but I didn't try it. Wanted to try the bbq. There were several vegetables on the buffet. The blackeyes were ok and the greens were pretty good. One of the treats for me was the cracklings on the buffet. They were tasty and worthy of a few more on my second run at the buffet. Plates, utensils and cups are all disposable styrofoam and plastic. You get your own refills on your drink. This was a comfortable meal stop not too far off the interstate. Not too crowded and the booth bench was comfortable. If you don't think of it as a stop for bbq it is a pretty good choice for lunch. As for SC bbq, I will keep looking. read more

This is definitely the wrong Dukes. The half a slab of ribs was not completely cooked. The coleslaw was dry and flavorless and so was the chopped pork. The guy in the drive through he was nice and did let us know that this Duke's was not affiliated with the one in Orangeburg. Well the food DEFINITELY taste much better at Dukes in Orangeburg. This place wasn't worth the drive but the Dukes in Orangeburg DEFINITELY is. So, if you haven't been to the one in Orangeburg go there!!! read more

We saw signs for this barbecue restaurant along the highway so thought to try it out. When we walked in we were not welcomed kindly, but instead just met by a staring man behind the counter. This is a legitimate BBQ stop. The sauces are on point. Lots of options that are good. While everything is good I have to call out the hush puppies, pretty amazing. Arrived about 3 pm on a Saturday and they had a steady flow of guest. Most of the items on the buffet were dried out and or not hot.Barely any pulled pork and it was dried out( their mild sauce was tasty) macaroni and cheese was all bits and piece. I had to request fresh which they obliged but it was disappointing. The cheese isn't incorporated in the dish so it is bland. Onion rings could have been good if they were at least warm. Corn nuggets were cold. Steamed cabbage was cold by the time I went through buffet and sat down to eat. Slaw and potato salad were acceptable.The fried chicken had a good flavor and saved the day. I went for the pulled pork and it was disappointing stringy large chunks . On the plus there wasn't a lot of fat in it and no hard charred pieces. . My lunch date liked the sausage . Peach cobbler was awful, i think it was made as a dump cake but it was mushy and cold. During our dining experience they did refresh a few items and that improved the quality. We left fed and moderately satisfied but the food was nothing to brag on. It wasn't horrible just passable . Had I looked at the buffet before we paid I'd gone elsewhere. Maybe had I been a guest when the food was all fresh my opinion would be better. I understand restaurants not wanting food waste . But so much of what was out was stale and likely hours old. I suggest putting smaller quantities out and replenishing food more frequently. I won't be taking the 60 mile round trip drive to get there. I found it mediocre. read more

Just the best. Go. It's a buffet with nice ladies behind the counter and you say "all of it, please?" More often than not you'll get a surprise. Duke's became our midpoint destination for dinner and a nearby bed. read more

Pretty decent little buffet spot and prices were super reasonable ($14 for all you can eat food, dessert and drinks). Definitely not the fanciest of places but if your looking for some good food during a long drive this is a nice little stop off the beaten path. The food was fresh and all the southern staples were present (Mac & cheese, rice, beans, greens, fried chicken, fried okra, hush puppies, pulled pork, ribs, sweet and unsweet tea and more!). Holy cow...or pig the BBQ is great. The Mac and cheese is comfort food. The homemade chips are great. It's an all you can eat and I missed that in my research, but it makes it worth it. It was busy at 130 pm. We gave it 4 stars as the instructions on where to go and such were a bit lacking and the place is dated a bit, but the food more than makes up for it. read more

We were there when the doors opened. Everyone was wearing masks and gloves as they moved through the buffet line. The workers replaced the serving utensils often and cleaned too. This is SOLELY based on my takeout/drive thru experience. We saw this place off the signs driving on the road back to Florida and got intrigued with wanting bbq and then veered into getting their fried chicken because it said it was the BEST, and yup, it's GOOOOOOOOOOD. I believe I got the basket that came with 2 pieces of either white or dark meat (your preference) and their homemade chips which were also so good and super crunchy! I also loved their fried okra and corn nuggets! The drive thru was great and the staff was friendly, quick, and prompt to bring our order out quickly. Ordered a 2 piece chicken plate to go, the Mac n cheese, okra and potato salad were piled high and took up the bottom of the box. They then put a piece of wax paper on top and piled the chicken on the second layer. There were 3 of us sharing a 2 piece chicken box, so they were nice enough to give us an extra free hushpuppy a wing. I was hoping that the food would be awesome home cooking, like many small town BBQ restaurants are. The Mac and cheese was very cheesy, but not flavorful at all. The only thing I could taste in the potato salad was mustard. The fried okra were the best item that we ordered. The chicken was unfortunately as dry and bland as it looked. The workers were nice and looked like they had some pretty tasty desserts. So, maybe it's worth a try for the other items. read more

Dukes barbecue near Charlotte, SC, you will see the numerous signs along the highway. Im giving it a 2.5 rating, definitely not the worst or the best we have had. The 2 1/2 star is our fault, we went 40 minutes before closing and seemed to have missed out on numerous dishes. The buffet features, pulled pork and Fried chicken as the meat, both were good. Coleslaw was good, beans good, nothing amazing, macaroni and cheese was out. Recommend if a buffet is open until 8 pm, all food should be available. Was looking for good SC bbq on a road trip and thought we'd try here. This place was sad and depressing. "All you can eat" buffet. Well, I didn't wanna eat much of it. Was really craving sc hash (iykyk) and theirs was basically thick sauce with some lumps of meat. Veggies were obviously from canned and drowning in a sea of yellow butter. Pulled pork was dry af. Fried chicken was soggy and bland. Zero seasoning or flavor to any of the food. You can tell who cooked it lol. Not sure if SC requires health inspection in restaurants but would not be surprised if this place failed. Overall just gross. read more

Was passing through and saw this place on yelp!! Walked in was a little surprised to see a cafeteria style restaurant!! Thank God we tried it because we have been dying to find a reason to go the 4 hrs to get there again! Food was amazing and the iced tea was out of this world. I really drink iced tea but I'd have to say this was the best I've had. The food was so plentiful that I still hadn't noticed everything when I went back for thirds!! I think they had to roll me out of there in the end!! We always look to find something truly memorable in our long trips and this definitely was it!!
