The service was terrible, we were the only people in the restaurant at 210pm on Saturday and were treated as if we were bothering the server. The food, the sauces, just not good. This is a divey style restaurant located in a small strip mall on Bus 17. We stopped in for dinner last Thursday around 5:30ish, and the place was nearly empty. No greeter. We got a sorta-snooty-but-ok vibe from the waitress. The food was good, but we were a bit surprised with the menu pricing. $44 for 10 wings, a personal sized order of pub chips, a plain hamburger and 2 soft drinks. A $12 hamburger served deli style with a 1/4 pickle and a bag of chips. Fries were a "full price" upgrade @ $3.99. A first for me. No dip included for the wings, .75 extra per condiment. I understand businesses have to make a buck, but this is your typical off season dive. Think Dagwood's, Southern Chicken, Manny's & Carolina Tavern... just sayin'. read more

My pregnant wife and I tried to stop by for some wings on a Friday at 5pm. The place was empty and the man at the counter basically refused to seat us saying our only option was the bar. Servers tried to seat us and he refused despite the place having many empty tables. We remember this place from years ago for being great and welcoming. We left saying that we were sorry to bother them and will never come back. Felt the energy was off when met with stares from him and waitresses. He as well as two other waitresses proceed to walk past my group without giving any instruction on whether or not we sit ourselves. We sit down at a table and I ask fat Jack if I can grab some menus for the group since he's just sitting there watching me figure out what is going on. He then tells me "that section is closed. So disappointed, I order the flounder fish sandwich, it was flatter than a pancake and over cooked (more breading than fish. I really thought for $15.99 that I would a least get a decent piece of fish. I've seen better fish portions from Gordon's frozen fish , we also ordered a basket of fried mushrooms with ranch which were delicious but served without the ranch. You have to pay extra for ranch or bleu cheese with your wings unless you order the big $42 platter, then they will throw in the ranch. We've been coming to Fat Jacks for YEARS. I remember getting a blue Smurf sprite as a kid and thinking it was the coolest thing ever. We picked up takeout tonight. It was fast, hot, and so tasty! Wow! I tried Fat Jack's Wings tonight and they were absolutely out of this world. I called and ordered carry out orders of wings, a salad and a cheeseburger with French fries. The portions on the cheeseburger and fries and the salad were very generous. My wife could only eat half of the cheeseburger and had to save the rest for later. The salad also had leftovers. The eight count order of wings were perfect. I ordered the Cajun dry rubbed wings and they were pleasantly spicy and cooked to perfection. I will return to dine in soon, the atmosphere in the restaurant was inviting and the staff I encountered were all extremely friendly and made me feel welcome. We come to this area 2x a year, so it's nice to find something besides seafood. It's a hole in the wall joint that also happens to be a hidden gem. We came an hour before closing because everything else was closed. We ordered the fried mushrooms, boneless and regular wings, Philly cheese steak, funnel cake fries, and deep fried corn on the cob. Everything was delicious, except the corn. The texture was weird, and it was greasy. They take pride in their wings, as they should. They were . You can tell the wing sauce is homemade, not from a bottle. The sesame and Polynesian were delicious, but the sauce of the month Beer, Bourbon, Bacon would've been good if I'd seen it sooner. Our waitress was Ginger. It was only her 2nd day there, but she was awesome. Funny, attentive, and patient. When you get four girls come in right before closing who are starving, you have a handful. Fat Jack's used to be a regular stop for me when I lived in Myrtle Beach, but since moving away over ten years ago I really wasn't sure what to expect. The space was expanded and some updates were done, but the atmosphere is still very casual. It has a family friendly kind of feel with sports memorabilia and local ads and artwork drawn on the ceiling tiles. The menu here is huge, but all I've ever had is wings and appetizers. I was so excited to find that the wings hadn't changed one bit. Two of us shared a large wing platter with 21 wings and were able to choose three sauces. We quickly agreed on teriyaki and Texas gold, two old favorites, and added garlic parmesan for the third. As always, we ordered the wings done extra crispy and they were perfect. They were cooked perfectly and drenched with just the right amount of flavorful sauces. The waitress was very friendly and helpful with navigating through the list of appetizers. Since the fried mushrooms was said to be a favorite we gave it a shot and they did not disappoint. They were very large and cooked to perfection. We were also intrigued by the deep fried corn on the cob, and this was a pleasant surprise. It was cooked to a golden brown and finished with butter. It was tender and crispy all at the same time. Surfside Beach is about a two hours drive from my home in Charleston. Now that I've rediscovered Fat Jack's I find myself trying to strategically plan my trips to arrive in Myrtle Beach during their business hours. I recommend you avoid the trap of the usual drive thru burger as you make the drive, in order to maximize you wings and things appetite. I'm confident Fat Jack's will not disappoint. read more

I hadn't been here in years and recently stopped by to see if the wings still held up to my memories of when I used to live in Myrtle (over 10 years ago). Right when I walked in I noticed a difference. They cleaned the place up a bit and I think they took over the building next door creating a space for carryout orders. I was hoping not much else had changed because the wings didn't need any fixing. For two of us, we ordered a platter that came with 21 wings and a couple appetizers. We wanted to stray from the ordinary and decided on Fried Mushrooms and deep Fried Corn. When it comes to sauces, getting adventurous was not an option. I needed the Teriyaki and Texas Gold in my life stat. We found out that we could get a third option and decided on the Garlic Parmesan. All I can say is that every one of the decisions above was a good one. The mushrooms were giant and full of flavor. The fried corn was a new one for me and I don't know why this isn't a regular thing. You end up getting some super tender corn on the cob with some crispy parts on the edges... it's perfect. I knew the sauce decisions were all winners. The Teriyaki and Texas Gold are tied for first place, but the Garlic Parm was done perfectly too. Overall, the best decision was going back to Fat Jacks after all that time. I'm now dreaming up reasons to make a Myrtle trip just so I can get more wings! read more

We've been going to Fat Jacks for years and years. It changed hands a few years ago and for awhile the food was consistent with the original quality. The two times we've been within this last year, the ambiance, food quality, taste and amount have changed. As we arrived there was a guy seated behind the counter near the hostess stand, he looked right at us, but wasn't welcoming. He never smiled or said hello, actually he never acknowledge or greeted us, so we stood there idly right in front of him for several minutes waiting for someone to greet us and seat us. Eventually the hostess showed up and seated us after having to clean off a table. (We were later informed that the guy behind the counter was the owner)... The wings were previously top notch, fresh and filled with meat. Recently, the wings have been much smaller and appear to have changed temperatures several times, according to the meats appearance as we were eating it. Some of the chicken meat was extremely dark in color and didn't appear fresh. The wings were minimally seasoned. The apps were dry and inconsistently heated. They also appeared to have been cooked in the same cooking oil as the wings, which was disappointing. Every item tasted the same. Positives from our visit, our server was nice and could hold conversation well. She was also efficient and reliable. She also had a great sense of humor and the bottled beers she served were ice cold! read more

We were chatting it up while out at Broadway at the Beach with Radom people and they insisted that you have the best chicken wings. I'm sorry to say that I don't eat chicken wings but my friend was on a mission for some chicken wings. I was super excited to be going to local and what appeared to be family owned restaurant. It was a great atmosphere-simple, homey feel. The staff were so pleasant and actually handed my friend the tv remote when she asked if they could change the football game. What really irritated me was they charged .75 for a tiny cup of ranch and $1.50 for 5 (little, tiny) sticks of celery with brown edges.
