This is definitely a locals place, but the food was good. We are not from the area, but when we visit again would definitely go back. Eight in our party, two had the shrimp bowl, five had different types of burgers and one just had the salad bar. Everyone really enjoyed their meals and they did have a small salad bar. We also had two orders of wings, one with normal wing sauce and the other hot honey sauce. Wings were very good. Definitely not a place you go for ambiance, but the service was very good. We have been going to TCT since we moved here 3 years ago. Absolutely one of our most favorites because of the staff-especially Erin! She goes above and beyond for us and every one she serves. Typical bar restaurant on the inside, they sat us right away though which was nice since we had a lot of people in our party. I ordered the tavern burger and they were very accommodating for taking off the onions or anything else I might have wanted. I got it with the sweet potato tots and I definitely recommend it was so good! I got my burger medium rare but I think it came out a little more on the medium side so I recommend ordering it cooked less than however you usually get your burger. Our waitress was so kind and very attentive as well. Also if yelp tells you that you get a 10% discount after checking in, you won't be able to use it here as the restaurant did not authorize yelp to make this coupon. read more

This place is the bomb if you look e wings.... All you can eat for $12.99. Their other choices on their menu are just as fantastic!! The barrel burger is huge, flatbreads are wonderful as well. Tonight was my first and last time visiting this restaurant. I ordered 20 wings to go and only received 14 wings for almost $30.. The wings lemon pepper were very bland and I've had better garlic Parmesan. The wings were cooked as well as I think they should have been. They never have a crowd of cars but I decided to give them a try. I can see why they are not busy. They did absolutely nothing to make me want to return and I was cheated out of my money. I was going to give this a 0 star review because of the waitress Erin. Started off fine until Erin came up to us for our drink order, she had a horrible attitude.. I had genuinely thought it was a knockoff of Dicks Last Resort, but from other reviews other people had the same issue with her. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what, we're not usually the type of people to complain but that was bullshit. Then we asked to switch waitresses and then we got Nicky. She was the absolute sweetest and clearly was running laps to other tables. After Erin had found out we switched servers, she decided to confront us for switching. Told us "it's not that big of an issue, and she had 5 other tables to tend to", I'm a waitress myself and if five tables stresses you out, then you do NOT need to be a waitress. If you're looking for cheap beer, I guess this is for you. But the food is a big nope! We typically enjoy small, local eateries but from the minute we walked in... we should've walked out. All of the open tables were dirty, while servers were standing around. They had very limited non-alcoholic drink options, but we decided to stay and try an appetizer. The pretzels were HORRIFIC. We came here a few years ago while vacationing in Murrell's Inlet and have been craving the bbq chicken nachos and boneless wings since! We were so happy to be back and realize they were as good as we remember! The nachos feature amazing queso, tender beer can chicken, house barbecue sauce (perfect blend of sweet and tangy), and raw onions. The boneless chicken wings taste freshly battered with fresh white meat and the crispest batter. 15 Boneless wings allows you the choice of two sauces where we went with Garlic Parmesan and Honey Barbecue. It was again the house bbq sauce along with a really nice garlic parm! We also enjoyed pineapple margaritas with the meal which had a heavy pour of tequila--YUM! My family was visiting from CT and we were sad we only found this gem on our last night. Food was great, prices were super reasonable, and staff were so nice. It did have a bar- ish feel but still family friendly. Not your typical seafood fare for the area, the BBQ was excellent. I would recommend giving this a try. read more

My wife made a single trip through the salad bar and was pleased with the fresh array of greens, vegetables and various toppings. My order was first the appetizer Tavern Loaded Fries with their own hand-cut fries with cheddar and Jack cheese melted on top with a smattering of bacon bits. Fries were not real crisp, but came with quantity and flavor. Next was an order of boneless wings and after a suggestion of sauces settled on the honey barbecue and Sweet Red chili sauce. Loved the simple, sweet taste of the honey barbecue and the slight heated after burn of the Sweet Red chili sauce. A side of ranch dressing and celery to help soothe the slight zing to the taste buds came with it. Wings were nicely breaded and of reasonable size. Service was friendly and helpful. Typical bar setting with wood booths, high and low tables with padded chairs and an extended bar running nearly the length of the room. Outside seating was available on an enclosed patio. I'm not the type to leave a review at all but we've been trying to place a to-go order for the past 2 months and they'd never answer their phones. We finally decided to go inside and eat. We walked in and it was dead inside. They had a couple people at the bar but nothing spectacular. We sat down at one of the only clean booths there was and the table was so sticky. We started with fried pickles and they could've been cooked a little longer but there were multiple pieces of chicken or something mixed in from the fryer. We asked for extra ranch like halfway through eating the pickles and we watched it sit under a heat lamp for the next 5-10 minutes while our server was just standing there, doing nothing. We were so excited to finally try their wings and we were so disappointed. We ordered mild & garlic parm mixed together and the garlic parm was literally butter and parmesan cheese sprinkled on top. We also split an order of the gravy fries and we bit into them and the cheese was rancid. It smelled so bad. I'm praying we don't get sick from eating here. My boyfriend asked for more water & it took the server almost 15 minutes to bring more when the pitcher was right across from us. Overall, it was a terrible experience and now I understand why they were completely dead at 7pm when every other restaurant was full. I wish we would've turned around and walked out the minute we walked in. FYI, this place does charge to use a card. It was only a dollar difference on our bill but we paid cash. read more

We're locals, have patronized the Carolina Tavern frequently before the pandemic and were always pleased. We went for the first time since 2020 this evening. Regretfully, the salad bar was closed due to pandemic issues, we can understand that. We ordered two corned beef brisket platters and two drinks, a beer and a soda. The platters came, each had a small cup of mustard on the tray, so I asked for some extra mustard. The waitress was kind enough to bring us another large cup of mustard. Food was very good, no complaints, service also was good. But the check reflected a $ .99 charge for the extra mustard. WHAT??? Is this place being managed by a different staff??? Did someone not explain "customer service" to them?? It's not the dollar charge for the mustard that irks me, it's the fact that a restaurant sees it fit to actually charge a customer for additional condiments, when it's understood that the cost of them is built into the food cost. By the way, I noticed this charge after we left, or I would have explained to the waitress that the restaurant owed us at least a dollar since we never used the ketchup, which was on the table, on our fries. This is the kind of issue that turns off a local who prefers to patronize local restaurants, not national chains. I'm not sure if we will return. read more

We have been many there times so going tonight for supper was a no brainer. We sat ourselves on a Saturday night and places our beverage order, placed our food order and waited and waited and waited! The food was delivered and the burger was undercooked, the onion rings were over cooked and the fries were cold. I will say my husbands chicken wings were good.
