I have had the opportunity to eat at numerous restaurants across the country - In my experience I have never encountered a restaurant owner more arrogant - disrespectful- unfriendly and lacking in basic etiquette of good customer service. We ordered 50 wings and 2 orders of chips for a carry order on Saturday Night and the owner was very rude when we picked up the order We picked up the order and brought it home only to find out that potatoes were still raw - wet and had not been cooked into potato chips. My friend who we were visiting lives in Myrtle Beach and has been going to the restaurant for over 20 years - she recommended we stop by the next day and let the owner know to hopefully prevent issues in the future- The owner was not willing to talk about it - was unapologetic- rude - and disrespectful He then smirked and provided a gift certificate to cover the chips after he went back to the kitchen to discuss with the people Needless to say we will not be using certificate - eating or recommending this place to anyone read more

Driven past Fat Jacks dozens of times. Everyone always told us to go. Finally decided to stop in. Much bigger than appears from the outside. Happy and fun waitress. Shared famous garlic parm wings and Philly cheesesteak with my wife. After the first crunch of the wings, we both looked at each other and agreed they were top five wings we've ever had! 10 out of 10 rating. Place has been open for 50 years for a reason! Ok so 5 stars are reserved for the best of the best. I was only a little hungry when we arrived thanks to fellow Yelper reviews. We tried the 18 wing and 2 sampler going in for the Buffalo hot, Thai chili, and Jamaican Jerk with Homemade chips and jalapeño poppers, oh no house made blue cheese. Move over Buffalo NY, competition here! Wings were cooked to perfection, flavors tongue tantalizing, and suffice to say I the more than expected no added on the funnel fries, which we polished off. BEWARE--My 16yr old son and I wanted wings. We have eaten from this place many times in the past. We tried calling but no one would answer. We went to the location and they said they weren't doing g to go orders. We asked if we could eat there. They said yes and seated us. We ordered a 24 wing tray that comes with 2 appetizers. While waiting for our order the manager who sat is came to our table and said she pulled our ticket because our waitress said we asked for to go boxes to be brought as soon as we got our order and she said NO TO GO ORDERS and we needed to leave. 1st of all, we never said any such thing. As I explained this to her she said we were calling her server and liar and she wouldn't stand for that. I said that we could go get the waitress and ask her. We stood up to leave and our waitress stopped us and said to wait that everyone there was in a bad mood that day. I told her no thanks we were leaving. As we were leaving I told the manager and her father how disappointed we were and how my family have been coming to their location for years but now we would never be back then the owner said "oh, so now you are threatening us??" And then he said he wasn't arguing and we needed to leave. I have NEVER been treated so rudely in my life. Not what we expected upon entering. Looks much larger and spacious based on how it looks like from outside. Very local feeling. Walls and ceilings full of knick knacks and pictures going way back. Menu has more than just wings. The fresh pretzels tasted slightly like funnel cake. Cheese sticks did too. We love funnel cakes so not much of an issue. Wings are small but sauces are packed with flavor and punch. Texas Gold sauce was great. The final bill was a bit more than I expected so I guess they are a bit pricey. The food is terrible. You could get better wings at a gas station. The service is beyond bad. They truly expected my 10 year old son when ordering off of the children's menu to specify he did not want the adult menu version and then when they brought the adult menu version they expected him to know the difference and I guess send it back and we're of course extremely unwilling to admit any fault whatsoever. Upon very politely pointing out this mistake and questioning the logic behind this decision we were asked never to return. The restaurant itself is a hole in the wall with a dumpy I should probably wash my hands really well sort of ambiance. It's also extremely overpriced and they add automatic gratuity for parties of 5 or larger which is smart because I certainly wouldn't have left any tip with an experience at a dumpster like this. read more

I'm leaving this restaurant feeling conflicted as there are positives but also negatives with my experience. We came in around 1 pm and the place was not busy at all and quite. We were seated rather quickly and went straight to ordering. My hubby and and I order the 21 wing platter with 2 appetizers and the kiddos ordered their food from the kids menu. The waiter came to drop off our drinks and right away I noticed a long blonde hair coming from the top of my drink. I pointed it out to her and instead of removing the drink, she persisted to pull it out of the drink . As a customer, I don't want to see you pulling hair from my drink. Rather just remove the drink and make me a new one. On top of that, it took nearly 10 minutes before she even brought me a new drink. About 20 minutes of waiting, the kids got their kids meals. I loved the fact that they brought out the kids meals when they were ready rather than bringing everyone out at once and Laing the kids wait. So that's a positive! However after the kids got there food, it took roughly another 20 minutes before my hubby and I got our platter of wings. Reminder, the restaurant was not busy (maybe 3-4 other tables). It really should not take that long for food to get to a table especially when it's not even busy. We ordered the BBQ wings (saucy and excellent ) The buffalo medium wings (great taste but lacked the saucy needs!) And the mango habanero which was the flavor of the month (no spice, watery, gross) When our order arrived, the waitress was pointing to the wings and telling us which was which. Not only was she pointing to the wings but I noticed she was touching the wings with the tip of her finger! Gross don't touch your customers food! She then put her hands behind her and tried to nonchalantly wipe her finger on the back of her pants like I didn't just see you touch my food. Takeaway: Positive: bbq wings and buffalo wings were great. Mozzarella sticks were bomb! Kids got their food quickly. Negative: poor customer service etiquette (hair in drink and touching customers cooked food), ridiculous wait time. Wings are pick and choose if they are good or not. Would I return? I don't know. For our first visit, Walked in and Becky seated us right away and took excellent care of us. Since we bought a house down here, we received a packet of coupons for local businesses and this was one of them. Since we had a $10 coupon, we thought we'd give them a try. You must try to deep fried corn, felt quite guilty after eating so much fried food but it was totally worth it. Been going to Fat Jack's for many years now and it's consistently good each time! In my opinion it's the best place for wings! Junior the owner looks after his staff and it shows with their passion and eagerness to help the customers. I really enjoy the various flavors of wings and they are always fried out well and not "slimey" like some places. Fat Jacks wings are just my style and I also like the fact they are very supportive of first responders being one myself! Has a entire wall with patches from many fire and police departments across the United States! Another thing worth mentioning is the fried mushrooms which are by far some of the best! I found Fat Jack's on Yelp while looking for places to eat in the Myrtle beach area and I'm really glad we stopped. We walked in on a Friday night around 630 and it was busy. We waited for a couple of minutes before we were seated but once we were everything went off without a hitch. The server was friendly and very attentive. On first impression the place is cozy and when I looked around I noticed the ads painted on the drop ceiling and I also noticed that it seemed to be a place the locals go. The thing that won me over (other than the wings) was the one ceiling tile painted for the Cleveland Indians commemorating 100 years of Tribe baseball. Back to the wings, my wife and I split a platter of 21 wings and 2 apps. For flavors we opted for hot, med, and juniors. We really enjoyed them all. They were fried crispy like wings should be and the blue cheese tasted homemade. For sides we went with deep fried corn which was good but really greasy and curly fries. I have gotten the 50 wing platter every time so I have tried 10-12 different sauces and all of them have been really tasty. My favorite is the Thai chili. Ok, I want to say that I'm a Myrtle Beach local, lived here for years. I'm posting this review late because I don't think yelp existed a couple of years ago when this happened but it still makes me so mad that I felt the need to post it for all locals to see. My wife and I visited Fat Jacks regularly. We ate their at least once every couple of weeks and it was our first choice for wings on the south strand. A couple of years ago my wife's brother, his wife, and two year old child were visiting and we took them to Fat Jacks as we had in the past. Our normal waitress was not able to wait on us so we had a different waitress who was terrible by the way, but that's off subject. So, we get ready to leave and we have a gratuity included on our bill for, I think, 18%, regardless of the exact percentage, it was included. My wife asked the waitress why this tip was included and she informed her that Fat Jack's new policy was that all parties of 5 or more have an automatic gratuity included in the bill. Ok, we were a party of 5 but 1 of the 5 was 2 years old and didn't even eat. Really? A 2 year old? So my wife asks to speak to the manager and the manager informs her that their waitresses haven't been getting tipped by tourists so they instituted this policy so they would get tipped. I can tell you that our regular waitress always received 20% or more from us but the waitress that served us that night, would have been lucky to get 10% just because her service was terrible. I was eating wings for God's sake and she didn't refill my tea one time the whole night, yes, it was that bad. So anyway, my wife told the manager that she would pay the gratuity and she did but that they had lost our business for the future. Sadly, the manager didn't seem to care but our regular waitress who knew we were regulars and knew we took care of her was very apologetic when we left. Had the opportunity to stop by Fat Jacks and tried their wing combo, We had the 18 piece combo with two Apps. We selected the Mozzarella Sticks and Fresh Hot Potato Chips. We had three different sauces, Garlic Parm, Texas Gold and the house teriyaki. All three were tasty. Being off season the place was not very busy and we were greeted by the co-owner Debbie who walked us through the menu. She allowed us to sample some of the many wing sauce options to help us decide on the flavors we preferred. The wings were done very well, crispy but not overcooked. The sauces coated each wing nicely and the flavor carried through each wing. Debbie introduced us to a new appetizer, Deep Fried Corn on the Cob, I was curious how this would be but I was very pleased. The corn is fried until the kernels just start to turn golden brown. The Corn is then rolled in melted butter and with a little salt it and smelled like fresh popcorn. The taste was a cross between popcorn and fresh corn on the cob. Great taste. The interior is unique as the dropped ceiling tiles were covered with advertising and political ads. Interesting to read and made the restaurant more memorable.
