Cheesesteak combo with fries and drink
    Trey B.

Looking for that diamond in the rough, I made an impulse stop at this place. Regrettable decision for sure. Everyone was friendly but the food was not very good at all. The meat was crusty. I have no other way to explain it. Like they had been hanging onto it for a while. It had lots of seasoning, it just wasn't good. The fries, like the meat, tasted old. It's basically a convenience store so my expectations weren't very high, but this place fell well below. To add insult to injury, it's expensive. I paid over $16 for a combo!! My suggestion, skip this place. Drive the few extra miles to Charley's Cheesesteaks where the ingredients are fresh, juicy and flavorful.

Fat Philly's was recommended me to be a family members neighbor when mom and I were discussing what was nearby and where we wanted to score some food. It was close and she said it was good enough to be worth a 25 minute walk (we were driving, so it was much quicker). On the outside, the sign is faded and it is tucked into a little strip of shops at the corner of Azelea Garden and Robin Hood Road. Easy to miss. Don't miss it! Chef Chris is very personable, answered my questions readily and happily. I asked if his bbq was NC style, he told me it was chicken only and homemade, but delicious. I had the chicken BBQ sandwich combo and mom got the fish and shrimp combo. Both served with fries and a fountain drink. Everything that was fried was fried to crispy golden perfection and that chicken bbq sandwich was pretty much inhaled. I agree it was indeed delicious. Keep in mind, fountain refills are a buck and they only have a handful of small tables outside to sit at, if you can deal with that, you should definitely stop by if you're in the area.

Man, fat phillys is a staple! However, these past few times I've gotten a cheesesteak it seems like they're falling off. The meat is really dry and there is hardly any cheese. So disappointed because I was really looking forward to this sub today. I might have to find a new go to, which is unfortunate because I used to LOVEEEEE their subs!

Some days a good beef hotdog is needed. This was the day. I called it in asked for grilled onions, chili cheese ketchup and mustard and it was yummy yummy in my tummy!!!! The local hotdog places only serve raw onions. So I was excited when he said yes that he would grill them. I believe it was about $6 or $7. Quick cheap fix to satisfy those midday work cravings.

I had stopped by for a sub since i was in the area. I had already tried the steak sub and i enjoyed it. So today i was happy to try the chicken cheesesteak. It was about $10 for 12 inches. So i ordered that and 2 8 inch subs. The owner greeted me when i walked in, but he was going off on one of the cooks... I was surprised that he was screaming and that lit in the store, but he was nice to me.. Lol. So it was a little weird at first. They were out of every soda as fountain drinks except 2 flavors. Smh. It took about 8 minutes. So the wait was fine. The subs were hot and fresh!! So i thought... My kids loved their cheesesteaks. I sit in the corner with the stink eye looking at them because my chicken sub was made with canned chicken i think... Lmbo... Canned meat doesn't taste the same. It was seasoned but weird. My brain wasn't grasping that concept. I'll never get it again... I can say the fries were delicious... I'll go back for the cheesesteak most likely and the fries, but thats it...

Cheesesteaks are average. Good amount of meat but nothing great in terms of taste. Chicken philly is slighty better.

I chose the Becca Burger, without mushrooms and their Steak Diablo Fries. They make everything fresh, to order with fresh ingredients. The burger was clearly freshly hand-packed, the jalapeños were freshly sliced, not pickled. Since they make it all fresh, you might wait a few minutes longer than the typical burger joint, but that's fine considering the amazing eats you're about to enjoy. My burger came out looking beautiful and it was definitely sitting tall! The flavor was excellent! Meat was great too!! I definitely liked having their chipotle mayo on it!! Those steak Diablo fries were incredibly tasty, with a nice kick, but sooo much more flavor than heat! The fries themselves were great, perfectly crispy and tasty, but adding all those toppings truly made it special! Service was nice... I had a few questions and she was helpful with the answers. Lastly, they have birch beer here, which I loved! Highly recommend stopping in for a great burger and fries experience!!

I had the Philly cheesesteak it was good. A little better than anything I've had outside of Philly. I would recommend this place. Here are some details on the sandwich. After attending Sunday Mass on 1/12/25, I decided to try out King's Philly. Cheesesteaks are…read moredifficult to successfully replicate, despite the fact I generally enjoy the ones I've tried locally. In that respect, if you're looking for authenticity, King's Philly won't make that list. When I arrived, King's was empty. There was one employee at the counter, and I quickly noticed two kiosks against the wall to the right of the entrance. I made my way to the kiosks and noted that the employee didn't say a word when I walked in. I like kiosks mainly because I can see, right in front of me, the entire menu. I noticed an oxtail philly, a bulgogi philly, and even a salmon philly on the menu. With this being my first time here, I decided on a regular old philly - in this case, a Classic Philly Beef. I ordered that and made it a combo (French fries, can of soda). After I ordered and paid, I sat down at a table and waited for my food. As I waited, I noticed that King's Philly is connected to Sushi King. Sushi King has been consolidating their space the past few years as they converted the other end of their suite into a Domoishi, and now this space for King's. By the way, King's interior is bright, colorful, clean, and organized. I waited maybe 10 minutes - the girl at the counter informed me my order was ready, and I picked it up at the counter. There are no fountain drinks available (a drawback, imo), but there is a fridge at the counter where you can choose your soda (cans). There is a second fridge next to it which has bottled drinks. The Classic Philly Beef was okay. The beef wasn't sliced ribeye and honestly tasted like frozen beef that was defrosted and then heated up on the flat top. The philly wasn't rotten nor was it bad, but it wasn't outstanding. And for $14-$15 for an 8" sub, I feel it needs to be outstanding. Also, the bun/roll they used for their philly didn't hold up. It almost immediately fell apart and its contents (beef, grilled onions, grilled peppers, provolone) fell all over the place. I ate a good amount of my philly with a fork, so I wasn't able to enjoy it as a sandwich. The fries were decent - well cooked, so they were crispy. King's Philly is an okay cheesesteak option, but it's not a first-choice one. I was curious since they're new, but when/if I'm in the mood for a cheesesteak, I unfortunately will opt for another place. I will return, though, to try the oxtail and the salmon phillies. Maybe those will help me to become a regular, but the classic philly beef will take a backseat. Thank you, King's Philly! JV

The smell drew me in the first time while visiting Lowe's and so glad I took a chance. A line is always a good sign that there are likely regulars and that spells something good is going on. The menu is posted on the outside and is simple fair type with burgers, sausages & cheesesteaks. The one young guy running the grille was friendly and recommended the cheesesteaks which I gotta say as a lover was suspicious. However I was willing to risk it on the off chance this food stand in a parking lot could actually deliver a fabulous steak. The price was affordable for a footling around $10 and added a bottle water and tip came to $13+ The cheesesteak was completed in around 8 minutes wrapped up and in a bag with napkins. I popped it open in the car and was amazed at the pure size and amount of meat. The smell was glorious with steam waffling above. The bread was fresh and authentic to Philly. The only thing left was a bite and it did not disappoint one bit, just wowzers! It was good enough to return prior to writing a review. It ended up being a carbon copy of my success with another incredibly delicious cheesesteak. This time I used a nearby picnic table to enjoy. This is a chain food stand. The owner has two located at Lowe's in Chesapeake and Virginia Beach on Holland Rd. If you love cheesesteaks then Dominic's delivers a masterpiece and you will not be disappointed.
