Taking to the streets of Paris by bike is AMAZING! And let's face it, it's way better than walking only because you can cover more ground and see more (I love walking in Paris, so make sure you do lots of that, too!). This is a REAL experience you are much like a local - riding your bike on the street in amongst the Parisian drivers - so fun! (Dominate the road!) My family and I loved the day tour so much that we signed up for the night tour a few nights later. The night tour is beautiful as you get to see all of the sights lit up. The Fat Tire Bike staff are fun, friendly and make the tour as fun as possible, stopping for lots of photo ops and ice cream. The bikes are easy riders and so comfortable. I've tried bike tours in cities around the world and I think it's a great way to get a feel of the layout of a city and learn a little something while getting some exercise. My experiences have ranged from great to not so much, and this was kind of, eh. The tour guides are recruited from American universities and are put up for the summer in Paris, so I didn't really feel that my guide knew any more about the city than I did. Plus, he was busy hitting on one of the college girls along for the ride, so that was annoying. The few tidbits he gave that I didn't know, I'm not sure were really accurate. He claimed Paris is the most densely populated city in the world. I'm not sure I believe that. More so than Hong Kong, Tokyo, Mexico City, really? Maybe I didn't understand what he meant, which is possible because it was difficult to hear in our group of 30+. I appreciate the tours where the guide is local, or even an ex patriot and really knows the local flavor, but maybe that's just me. He safely guided us through city traffic and I don't recall anyone having trouble with the bikes, well, except those who couldn't ride in a straight line, but that's hardly the fault of the tour company. We met at the Eiffel Tower at dusk, which was a little confusing as this is a very touristy area (duh). I had made reservations online because I was afraid the tour would sell out, but these are true business men and were accepting walk-ups such that 4 tour groups actually left that night. We hit the usual spots, and ended with a little boat ride which included wine. It was lovely to see everyone out sitting next to the river enjoying picnics and also to observe the beautiful light shows around the city. There was a little concern that we were going to miss the last Metro train as our tour ran a little late, but thankfully we made it. If a local shop offered a bike tour in English, I would probably choose them next time instead. read more

I signed up for a bike tour of Versailles as a fun activity while alone in Paris and I am so glad I did! It was a wonderful way to visit Versailles and spend the day with a fun group of people. Our guide, Declan was very knowledgeable and the whole itinerary was wonderful. The tour included a tour of the Petit Trianon and its gardens, a picnic in the park and a tour of the main Palace and its gardens. The only negative is that the Palace tour (for which we had an audio tour included with the package) took a while so by the time we finished, the gardens were closed and we couldn't visit them. Aside from that small detail, this was a wonderful tour, and I'd recommend it to anyone - whether they have never been to Versailles or, like me, have been there numerous times. read more

I completed the evening bike tour on a Tuesday when I was in Paris. I believe it started at about 7 and went until 11:30... midnight-ish. Not exactly sure. I had not been on a bike in 16 years so I was concerned that I wouldn't remember how to ride! Nonetheless, I ended up being fit for a child's bike (hehe) b/c I felt more secure know that my feet would be flat on the ground when I stopped. Once on the bike I was able to practice riding for about 10-15 minutes outside of their office and felt somewhat comfortable. The bike tour itself is not leisurely. Our instructor was on a schedule and there were times when she gunned green lights only to leave half the group behind when it turned red. You need to be in relatively decent shape to complete this bike tour. Also, she stopped often to explain sites to us. However, as we fell behind on time she would talk and ride so if you were in the back you didn't hear anything. The Paris traffic is crazy. The 'pedestrians have the right of way' rule that we are all use to here in US is a crock in Paris. A taxi driver WILL run you over if you don't get out of their way. We were told to 'dominate' an entire lane and ride in a close pack so taxi drivers could not separate us. It was crazy. I was terrified for the first 2-3 hours and barely looked up to see the sites. My goals were to keep up with everyone and not get run over. After a few hours I was able to relax and I felt more comfortable riding so I ended up enjoying the ride a bit more. The boat ride with wine was the highlight of the entire tour. It had incredible photo opportunities of the Eiffel Tower. Took my first selfie... just me and Mr. Eiffel. Memories =) TIPS: 1. The printed confirmation that states you meet at the south leg of the Eiffel Tower is wrong. Apparently, the paperwork was never updated! You meet at the Fat Tire Bike Tours headquarters instead. 2. Bring a light jacket for the evening tour b/c it gets cold on the boat. 3. Don't have too much wine on the boat cause you will be riding your bike back to headquarters when all is said and done. Riding tipsy is not cool. 4. Bring cash for the gelato stop midway through the tour. 5. Use the 10% off coupon on their yelp page when you reserve your tour!!! read more

What an amazingly fantastic tour my friends and I had with Amy! She was a warm, friendly, knowledgable guide with charm and hilarity to spare. She expertly guided our group to some spots I normally would have looked at, appreciated momentarily then moved on, but with her storytelling and overflowing anecdotes, Amy made every tour stop interesting and informative. This tour was the perfect activity for this first time American in Paris. My friends and I did the daytime tour and I cannot wait to go on the evening tour in a few days. Paris is a beautiful place, especially at night. We thought a fun way to enjoy it would be to bike it with a tour. English speaking Fat Tire seemed to fit the bill. For 30 euro, we got a bike, helmet and guide. We biked from the office near the Eiffel out to Notre Dame, the Louvre, along the Seine and eventually took a river cruise. It was fun having a bike and someone guide us. I had a few criticisms though: 1. We spent nearly 30 minutes of the tour waiting for the group to get ice cream. With a tour in November, this was strange. Apparently the ice cream is really good, I don't know, don't think of ice cream when I think Paris. Also, had to pay out of pocket for it. 2. The rest of the tour seemed hurried as a result. The guide never offered to take photos, which would have been neat at such great landmarks at night. Definitely felt like we were in a time crunch. 3. People of varied skill levels were in the group. Since we were moving quickly, people not accustomed to city biking were struggling. I bike a lot, but I was uncomfortable with this. Biking up hills or in front of city buses, etc. I definitely got what I paid for and it was something memorable. Value was about on par I suppose. Just felt like some simple things like the guide helping build memories would have made a huge difference. read more

Your experience will HIGHLY depend on whether you have seen Paris already. We were scheduled to do this tour on our second day in Paris. However, we were too jetlagged. Later, we missed our second appointment! These folks were super nice though and allowed us to catch this tour the day before we were to leave Paris. Because of this, none of the sites looked new to us. In fact, we though this tour only hit 5% of the sites we think it should have. Given the difficulty of taking the segway to certain areas, I fully understand why you can't do it all. However, I had the hopes of hitting 1) Eiffel Tower, 2) Arc de Triomph, 3) Notre Dame, 4) Opera House, 5) Lourve, In actuality, we only really got to see the Eiffel Tower - and only from the Champ de Mars. The Segways are fun and easy to ride. Don't be afraid at all. I would only let you know that you really aren't seeing much of the real "famous" sites. read more

How does ridiculous fun sound? If that's what you want, then this is the place for you. We took the Versailles tour and had an absolute ball. My wife - not a strong bike rider - was a bit apprehensive of riding and riding in the streets of Paris, but that all went away as soon as we met our guide Andrew. He was hilarious and immediately put everyone at ease. We quickly saddled up and made our way to the RER station for the short train ride (~20 minutes) to the town. Once there, Andrew led us to the local market square and directed us to the best quality and recommendations in meat, cheese, bread, wine and the embassy of bathrooms - McDonalds. After filling our bags with essentials, it was off for about a 90 minute ride through the grounds of the chateau with several stops and light history lessons. Come on people, it's a bike tour in France led by Americans - if you want the full history, buy a book. Once we finished our picnic a bit tipsy and full of good cheer, we biked another 15-20 minutes to the entrance around the front, where Andrew gave a few parting words and sent us on our own for about 2 hours. Versailles is CRAZY crowded with tour groups, so 2 hours of crowds was more than enough. A short ride back to the station and then again to the office and the tour was done. A fantastic day - the perfect way to give your tired feet a day off from walking the streets of Paris. read more

I don't want to repeat what so many reviews have said, other than state - as others have - that their Versailles tour was beyond our expectations. Recommended by some friends. I was a little worried that my Zumba, Pilates and walking regimen wouldn't allow me to keep up on the bikes, but it was easy and I was at the middle and front of the pack most times. Just a couple of very easy hills. I'd been to Versailles before and although we only had about 90 minutes at the end to visit the palace, it was fine. More important to us was shopping for our picnic at the to die for outdoor/indoor market in town (OMG like supermarket sweep - I could have stayed for hours) - and conquering the majesty of the estate's acreage. Thomas was our guide and he was outstanding. Safety, timeliness, information and enjoyment were his priorities. His knowledge of history was impressive. His sense of humor was just right. We would tour with him again and again. The beautiful weather was a blessing. I would recommend this tour to anyone and everyone. Bravo Fat Tire! read more

We paid for a guided tour. It was 6 times the normal price so we expected a well-guided tour. When we arrived at the tower our guide left us which meant that we ourselves should find the right line ( Hint: It's NOT easy when you doesn't speak a word french) As said the guide left our group which meant we didn't get the guided tour as we paid for. I took a bike tour from another company in Paris a few years ago but read the reviews for these guys and decided to give it a whirl. Did not disappoint!!! The day we got into Paris we took the night bike tour. It was rainy, cold, icky but we had a fabulous time!!!! Our tour guide (David from Venezuela) kept the group going filling our minds with fabulous history of Paris while keeping us moving at a pace that kept us warm! While I had a rain coat, my friend didn't but rest assured! They allow you to buy ponchos at their location when you get there. And if you don't use it, they give you a 100% refund. It kept her dry and she had just ad much fun as I did! If that wasn't enough, we did the day bike the next day. The day and our new tour guide didn't disappoint. What a day! At the recommendation of a friend we booked our day trip to Versailles. We met early in the morning, got in our groups, and headed to Versailles. First stop was to get bikes and then on to the market to pick supplies for lunch. After that, we rode to the grounds and made several stops before picnicking on the grounds. Johnny, our guide was adorbs and very informative. We enjoyed that he knew so much and was able to share his knowledge in a fun and entertaining way. It really made the experience relevant and come alive for us and the group. Great day!!! To make this a five star I would recommend to meet right by the metro stop. We got to the store front early, to wait for others, to walk back to the metro where we just came from. You don't get bikes until you get to Versailles so the back and forth felt frustrating at that early when it was cold out. Or my husband's preference would be to meet at the bike shop in Versailles and let people get themselves there and knock down the price a bit. read more

My wife and I did the Paris night tour and had a blast! Only problems were the other riders who didn't know how to hold a straight line. The bikes are sturdy with good brakes. Our guide was great, giving up his bike when another rider had a flat tire, and running with the flat tire bike so that we could catch the Eiffel tower sparkling. One piece of advice, take a light jacket for the boat ride, it gets a little windy. Also, reservations aren't completely necessary, because they are ready to take several groups every night. read more

Did the segway tour with Emma (the nurse from Australia). She is awesome. My husband and I never had done segways before and she was so patient with us. She taught us so much and was so helpful. She gave us a private tour because the other couple didn't show and it was rainy. This was the last of the fat tire tours I did around Europe! It means I got all four stamps and I got my free bike............... t-shirt. B'doom zsst! So fat tire began here, in the gorgeous little streets of Paris! This tour was by far the shortest (and most expensive) of all the tours we took but it was super fun and very informative. What made this tour great is the richness of the Parisian past, so much history and how incredible it all was! Again like the other tours, if you only have a moment in one of their tour cities (London, Berlin, Barcelona or Paris), you can hit all the highlights with more details than you can throw a stick at on one of these and along with it, meet a bunch of fun people and badger your guide endlessly for tips around Paris! Like with the Barcelona tour, I wish the lunch stop was better than it was. I get it, we're a big group and we haven't much time but we're in Paris. I'd have been happy with a great little bakery with baguettes and desserts rather than a garden full of other tourists eating pre-made food specially made for more tourists! I had Gingo (lizard). As my tour host. He was great did the same speech as what other have said that you get honked at by other cars. For me that is normal. You get a vest and you could grab a helmet( if you would like). Positive: well organized and he made sure we all together Knew his stuff (only the points he talks about) Allows you to take all the photos you want and helped you out if you if you wanted to be in the photo. They also fit you to the right bike The chan is covered so no concern in if your paints will get dirty Improvements The maintained on the bikes I would like to know or general (breaks, oil on the bike). My bike had no lights. Batters need to be changed this is a safety concern so I hope they will improve that. Over it was a blast and I would do any tour he is running. A suggestion is for them to have a bike rental for the day! It would be nice I think. read more

We first discovered Fat Tire when we were in Barcelona, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! So we thought, what better way to start our vacation in Paris than with these guys? We took the daytime Paris bike tour. First off, the Barcelona tour was better than this one. It could just be that Barcelona is a smaller city, but I didn't feel like we got to see a whole lot of things here in Paris. I would still recommend this tour because we got to learn a lot about the significance of some of the more famous sites in Paris (Hotel des Invalides, Champs de Mars, the site of the guillotine, the Tuileries gardens, etc.), which was great. Also, on this tour, you do spend a lot of time sharing the road with very aggressive drivers. There were several pretty scary turns that we had to make, so just be prepared for that. Some tips: - For the Paris tour, reserving online in advance isn't necessary, but I'd recommend it anyway. When I went at the beginning of April, about half of our tour purchased in advance. - For the Versailles bike tour, you MUST reserve in advance. We didn't decide to go until the day before, and by then it was already filled to capacity. Very very sad. That's my biggest regret about our trip! read more

Our tour guide, Stuart, really knew his history and did a great job interacting with the group to relay each anecdote. He had great recommendations on food to pick up for our lunch time picnic. The tour is well organized, covers a lot of ground, and you really get your money's worth. French Revolution: Even on a cold, windy, drizzly day, this was a very fun tour. Your really cover the center of Paris, and it is a perfect compliment to the Versailles Tour. I think it highlights the major points of the French Revolution but doesn't take up an entire day. We thought this tour was very informative and the perfect length. My wife and I took their Palace of Versailles bike tour and it was easily one of the most memorable experiences of our lives. We picked up our bikes and met our tour guide at the bike tour office. From there we rode down the streets of Paris and then carried our bikes onto a train that took us to Versailles. Our guide was an extremely knowledgeable American who made us feel safe and stress free. She took us to farmers market where we bought food to have for a picnic lunch by the grand canal. This tour allowed us to see the entire palace including Marie Antoinette's cottage and estates. It was an 8 hour tour that was well worth the money. This company is fantastic. read more

Nike, please don't sue me but I'm going to repeat your oft-used, ambiguous slogan when it comes to the City Segway Tours in Paris: Just do it! I've tried Segway tours in several cities and I'm hooked! Every place I go, if there's a Segway tour, I definitely try it out. I took my friends here and almost everyone had that nervous, unsure "Do I really wanna do this?" look to them. But by the end of the one hour orientation, everyone had a wide-grin, eyes-smiling genuinely-happy face that all kids at play seem to exhibit. One of my friends had that face so permanently etched on her that you can almost hear her screaming inaudibly "Wheeeeeeeeeee!!" We tried the tour at night and the four hours includes a one hour orientation where they teach you how to ride a Segway. If you can stand, you can ride a Segway. The tour starts at the office, goes to the Eiffel Tower, through the Invalides, through the Tuileries Garden and onto the Louvre. The tour guides are all American college age kids that are highly knowledgeable (or highly confident in the stories that they make up. I can't tell which...). Yes, the 85 Euros is expensive but I think it's worth every penny. You'll also be treated as I imagine circus freaks would be treated. Everyone you pass will look and take pictures. We even had one guy in a small Peugeot near the Tuileries garden do a quick U-turn, jump onto the sidewalk and ask what we were riding. read more

We did the night time Paris bike ride and we loved it. They took us all around the city occasionally stopping to give brief but informative history on the city. My wife and I were nervous at first about riding with the crazy Paris traffic but they do the street portions in a safe and comfortable way. The ride culminated in a night cruise on the river with wine. The cruise was cool and we assumed it would be just one small glass of wine each but they kept pouring them until it was all gone. one of the best ways to view Paris is on a bike. You can get your own, rent a Velib, or do a bike tour. I took the latter route with Fat Tire Bike and it was one of the highlights of the trip. I did the evening tour, which had less historical stops but ended with an hour long cruise down the Seine which included wine. I've visited Paris about ten times. On a recent visit with my adult daughter, we took the Paris Night Tour on the Fat Tire Bike Tours. We loved it!! We pedaled all over the center of Paris on easy bikes with a very small group and guide. We rode right through the middle of the Louvre courtyard and across the Ile de la Cite, along the Seine River. We took a break at the Ile de St. Louis and enjoyed ice cream at Berthillon. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun. We viewed a great number of sites with ease. After a comfortably paced ride with several short stops for explanation by the guide, we completed the night with a scenic boat cruise on the Seine a River, through the floodlit fabulous buildings of Paris. Wow! This was a totally new way to see Paris for me. I recommend this bike trip on SUNDAY nights, when car traffic is light and some places are closed. A couple of years ago, I did the Fat Tire Versailles tour with my 22 year old niece and my 15 year old daughter, and it was a highlight of our trip. This time around, I was with my BFF and I signed us up for the Giverny tour. This required some convincing my BFF on my part as she is not a confident rider and was worried about keeping up. This is a good choice for someone who might be a bit rusty on biking skills, as most of the riding is on a beautiful country bike path, and there is not really a ton of riding anyway. We meet at the St Lazare train station and take the 46-min ride out to Vernon. On the way, our tour guide Costy preps us with great anecdotes about Monet. We walk a block to the town and shop for lunch supplies, always a treat, and the village is so welcoming to us. We bike a few short blocks through the village and sit for a picnic lunch overlooking the Seine river. After lunch, we take a leisurely ride through country bike paths to Giverny and tour Monet's gardens. If you are a fan at all of Monet's, this is the way to enjoy it. It is something incredible to see the landscapes that inspired his work, and to learn more about the man and his history from our tour guide, who comes across as a Monet fan himself. The pictures are amazing, but not sure it is possible to take a bad pic with all the inspiration, colors, and charm that is ever=present. We definitely had a wide range of biking abilities on this tour, and we appreciated that Costy let us al go at our own paces. The Versailles Bicycle Tour was magnificent. Our guide Phil was very friendly, intelligent, knowledgeable, and made the day go very smoothly for us. In my opinion, this is the only way to visit Versailles. I have visited Versailles before, but using bicycles to cover lots of the grounds is an excellent way to see so much. From shopping at the market to visiting the Petit Trianon to the picnic on the canal, we had a great time. I highly recommend this tour. read more
