Killer workout, fun and engaging. This is a really great place to get a good workout in. Ken is committed to creating a professional yet relaxed atmosphere, and he cares about your performance and development. I wanted to try something new and joined the gym on a whim. I've been training at Fortune for over 2.5 years, and Ken is always in the gym putting in work. He's either training clients, making incredibly helpful boxing videos, or learning so he can be the best coach possible (even though he already has over a decade of experience). MR. K, Professor K, aka Fat Boy Shrink Boxing. I went to one session with him and have done previous boxing classes at UFC. 1) He is very honest and upfront with you. I want to start off by saying he really knows what he is doing especially with mechanics and building on top of it. Even though I went for one session (due to work and where I live I cannot commit) I was able to build and learn something that other instructors didn't do. What I appreciate about him is he knows the struggle of fitness, the mental and physical aspect so he really endures with you. Not to mention his life is a living testimony on fitness. You can tell that a lot of his clients especially the females are learning something and also physically in tune when it comes to boxing (the girls he trains could really kick ass... literally). If you're serious about boxing and really want to learn or get back into it Kenneth is the go to. He's not here to just teach a lesson or two. I've been taking boxing classes and training with coaches for 5 years now throughout SoCal. After leaving San Diego and moving up to LA, it was really difficult to find a coach with what I was looking for. Ken is one of the best coaches in the game right now especially if you're a beginner. A lot of the time you're going to see trainers put their clients through Mayweather style mitt work that while effective for an experienced boxer with the added benefit of looking nice and flashy for the camera, achieves very little growth for the uneducated and novice boxer, sometimes even detrimental to their development. Ken steers away from this trend and stresses fundamentals above all else. Foot positioning, weight distribution, punch mechanics, full rotation, range of motion, Ken makes it paramount that his clients establish a good base in all of these factors before moving forward in his instruction. He's also very attentive and adept at articulating his points in ways that each of his clients can understand. As one of his clients I've noticed that he doesn't teach any of us the exact same way, he tailors his instruction to the level, personality and background of the client with one goal in mind, to grow as a boxer and more importantly to grow as a person. I am so grateful for Fortune boxing and being able to train with Ken. I have taken various boxing classes/trainers over the years and Ken is not only motivating, but he also properly focuses on technique. Nothing gets past him.
