Started going to Mad City in early August, decided to do the one week trial and loved it! The coaches are extremely encouraging and focus on technique from day 1. Nathan and Alex co-teach most of the classes I have signed up for. I usually go to Saturdays, since it's all body and a good balance of cardio for my workout routine. They have various membership options, but I decided to buy the 20 class pack, which works best for me as I only go once a week. Tip: Bring a towel, if you have your own set of gloves and wraps, bring them. If not they provide loaners for gloves, but it's probably best you bring your own. Also know that part of the class involves running up and down the block in uneven pavement, but if you don't feel comfortable doing so I notice some members do jump roping or stationary jumping jacks instead. Don't be intimidated by coaches, they make sure to check for form. Also, don't compare yourself to other people taking the class. There are people who I can tell are advance, but overall it's a mix level class. read more

I just came here to say that I absolutely love this boxing gym. I was a bit intimidated to even step foot in a boxing gym since I had no idea what to expect. The second I walked in everyone was super kind and welcoming. They work with you wherever you are in your fitness/boxing journey. They are super duper attentive and super patient. This crew is LIT! Took a free class at Madcity Boxing and boy did I have a great time! Last Friday I decided to take an impromptu walk after a haircut from the place where one gets haircuts. Why? Cause I'm like that. On my way, I walked right past Madcity and decided to step inside since I drive past this gym every day and I have always been curious. Right off the bat, I was welcomed by Coach Dom. The gym has an incredibly beautiful vibe to it! It feels like a place where you must work hard, every time to prove who you are. To no one, but yourself. There is an endearing energy that can only be created with collective effort and hard work. Anything on the planet that you want to do, the coaches at Madcity will teach you. They are the most kind, gentle, patient coaches ever. I'm working out for years in different kind of sports and workouts. One of my friends referred to me The Madcity Boxing almost a year ago. It's an addiction!!! The classes starting from 6am until the evening. The trainers all of them amazing, knowledgeable and never let you give up!!! It's not just boxing. The best workout I've had in LA. Period. The classes are segmented by focus - leg day, core day, etc - and incorporate boxing and circuit training. It's an incredible sweat every time, but the real magic is in the coaches and the community. The coaches reallyyy care and work with you on your form, goals, obstacles, etc - Coach Dom played a huge role in my recovery from ankle surgery last year, getting me back in the gym (and eventually the ring). It was an OK workout, I am just concerned about safety as COVID cases are on the rise in LA, and ICU beds are full. Despite that fact, patrons were not forced to wear masks. I may change my review after COVID, but for now, I don't see this as a safe option. read more

Attended a class the other day. Doesn't take COVID seriously. No social distancing. Made me uncomfortable how close people were without masks while breathing heavily. Music you can hear from blocks away. Also I want a gym that is courteous of the surrounding community. I heard they had been starting fights with residential neighbors (and I can now see why) and that just isn't what I'm looking for. read more

My go to gym for a year has been closed for good, still mourning over that. I was so sad for awhile, however, my former gym mate let me know there's a new boxing studio open recently. I booked my first private session the next day since it's the new member special. Needless to say, right after the private, I signed up for the monthly for a year. I been coming everyday for 7 weeks now and the place is squeaky clean with a nice boxing ring that we can do mitts. Dom is great coach, very knowledgeable and commitment in teaching me how to do proper punches. Boxing is a sport that never get easier and I love Dom always very patient with me when my hands can't stay up by my face for a million times. If you ever want to challenge yourself mentally and physically then you definitely don't want to miss Madcity, my new favorite boxing studio. read more

i've been to MANY boxing gyms, and i have never been anywhere like madcity. the workouts are intense, challenging, but thoughtful and well choreographed. The people are amazing - it is a real community, and that trickles down from how humble/kind/caring/fun/smart the owner and staff are...i never would have made it through covid if it weren't for the outdoor gym they made.... i have to move apartments soon and the first thing i checked at each one was the commute to madcity. you dont get better. read more
