10/10 best gym I've trained at. As a woman, bjj can be intimidating, but this place is relaxed, open and safe. The best part is the vibe and the instruction. Everyone is so friendly; from Mochi (the gym dog) to the owners and members, everyone wants to learn and have a good time training. I was blown away by the head professor, Anthony. It's hard to find instructors that have amazing jiu jitsu AND know how to teach their art in a digestible way. Anthony caters his classes to the level of the students and breaks techniques down to easy steps while simultaneously ensuring you understand the concept behind the technique and overall goal. Absolutely. Incredible. You can tell he lives and breathes what he does. *If you're looking for a gym to start out at as a beginner or if you're seasoned and looking for good training and instruction, this is your spot. I can't rave enough about this place. Feels like a home, such good community.

At first I thought people were confusing me with someone else, but I quickly realized that's just the culture here. I started with their 4-week beginner program and had a really positive experience. The professors are not only friendly and approachable, but also world-class. They pay close attention to everyone to make sure you feel comfortable and are learning the techniques correctly. Starting BJJ can feel intimidating, but they've created a safe and supportive environment that makes it much easier to stay consistent. That's important for a sport like this where progress takes time. What initially drew me in was Cobrinha's philosophy, and it absolutely lives up to the reputation. I'd encourage anyone to learn about it directly from him. I've been meaning to write this for a while, but I'm proud to be a member here now. This is a great place to start your BJJ journey.

I'm disappointed with my experience…read more On the 12th, I called specifically to confirm pricing and scheduling before committing because I value both my time and the business's time. During that call, I was told there was a 4-week introductory program for $149, with classes on Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:00 PM. I was also told that after the introductory period, membership would be $257 per month, with a discounted rate available if I signed up early. Based on that information, I was excited to get started. I confirmed my email, completed the registration process, signed the waiver, and booked what was advertised on the website as a free trial. When I arrived for class, I was informed that free trials were no longer offered and that the $149 introductory program was no longer available. This was surprising given that only about 10 days had passed since I had called to confirm everything. I asked whether I could simply pay for a drop-in fundamentals class since I was already there and on time, but I was told that drop-ins were only available to students with prior experience. As a brand-new student, my only option was to sign up for the full $257 monthly membership. That was the most frustrating part. The lower-cost introductory option was gone, the free trial was gone, and I wasn't allowed to pay for a single class to see if the gym was a good fit. Instead, the only option available was to commit to a full month for $257 without ever having taken a class there. That's a significant commitment for someone trying a new gym for the first time. It's unfortunate because the facility seems to have a great community and many satisfied members. However, having the terms change so quickly after I confirmed them, combined with having no way to try a class before committing to a full membership, left me with a very negative first impression.

They know you are new and will help guide you with your first steps. It takes a little time to adjust to the routine and what the training is like but you will easily get a rhythm if you show up consistently. They want you to come back and they want you to improve. Also They let you try out the gym before you sign on. They have lots of gym equipment in here as well so there is no need to pay extra for another gym membership just to lift weights. It's like a playground, you can come in and lift weights, you can practice on the bags and get better or you can take the different classes they offer all under one roof.

There's so much I could say about Pete and this gym- but to keep a long story short- I'm grateful I ended up here of all places. I was 21 and new to LA. I've struggled with weight all my life and wanted to find something to keep in shape. Thought I was going to boxing, ended up in Jiu Jitsu. I was the only girl, which can be scary. But Pete was super welcoming and treated me very equal to the guys and believed in me. I fell in love with the sport and did everything day and night- MMA, muay thai, bjj. Pete believes in people and CARES about his fighters. He's a very genuine and honest person, and his leadership trickles down into the culture. He's very much a life teacher in many ways and loves his analogies lol. I've learned so much about not just fighting, but life and the martial arts ways. Like I said, Pete and this gym has changed my life. 10/10 one of the best things that's ever happened to me!!

Dennis, the main coach, is so knowledgeable and welcoming, he really takes the time to understand his students strengths and build upon that, and he also takes the time to find the weaknesses and help patch that up. I like the class sizes because it is the right balance of one on one instruction and variety of training partners. As a woman in grappling it can be hard to find an environment where you feel comfortable and supported- I have definitely found that here, I feel so at ease training with these guys. This means a lot because jiujitsu is so male dominated, that it's hard to find somewhere suitable to train for women, but this place is. The balance between comfort and hard training is perfect here. I love their sense of community, events and outreach. This gym also does an incredible job at getting students competition ready, the medals speak for themselves.

They have women's only open mat from time to time and I think that is so neat. I haven't seen that in other places. The ratio of women is definitely higher than other dojos. So ladies, if you want to find sparring partners, this is definitely the place. It's super clean. Aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Bathrooms are equipped with showers. That's next level stuff.
