    Burger and yam fries

We were starving and passed by and opted for burgers. First time trying Fatburger. Opted for the western burger with bbq sauce. Unfortunately the bbq sauce tasted like watered-down ketchup and was all over the burger--not my fav. The yam fries were the real star, thick-cut and flavorful! I also tried my friend's onion rings which were really good. My friends liked their burgers fine. Odd thing was that this was a fast food place that was trying to be more of a sit-down restaurant. The had a server bring us our burgers, though there was no need, and my friend tried to get a side of ketchup from a large pump bottle on the counter, but was told that the server could do that and bring it to her. When we were finished we tried to clear out trays, and were stopped and told that the server would do so. Seemed silly.

$10 for only the Burger...sobs... If a picture is worth a 1000-words, the two photos I added hopefully speak volumes. It was a disappointment to receive the burger in the state it was...soggy bun with chicken flavoured Cajun spice rub, lettuce in a large chunk instead of laid out and one tomato in decent shape. My request was simple... a lettuce-wrapped Cajun chicken burger, no cheese, no sauce...which also means no bun. I waited 7-minutes, and was given a to-go bag...got to my desk and opened it to find this... ...after almost two months, I have been adjusting my eating to be low-carb and low-fat so I can get into a healthy groove, and try find healthier options wherever I am but can I just say...disappointments when it comes to your food are *real* when every calorie literally counts, and every food choice is a litany inside your head of...Do I eat it now and regret later or... do I abstain though it's Right In Front Of Me?!? In the end...I ate the deconstructed burger by eating the lettuce first (go me!), then the tomato and then the chicken...but one half of the bun also slid down before I could acknowledge my wrong doing. I know it's not the company's fault that I have limited willpower...but, if the burger had been lettuce-wrapped as I politely requested (and like advertised)...the guilt factor wouldn't be hitting me today. My two cents worth (or $10 worth!): I wouldn't choose this as a first or second choice at the coal harbour food court and likely will be a year before I forget my past experience and try it again without thinking...staff seemed annoyed at having to make the burger as requested, and in the end, they didn't even try. Guess it's back to Greek food (salad and chicken skewers) where they yell at you while you walk by or the familiar (but costly!) salad bar next door ((sigh)) @_@.

First time trying a fatburger. Awesome name for a burger restaurant! I've always wanted to try it since seeing one on the Las Vegas strip. I love a juicy artery-clogging burger once in a while, but I don't like my entire burger to be soaked and dripping with grease... and that's how my fatburger came. With every bite that I held to my mouth, grease dripped out of the burger. Perhaps it was because I was there in the morning and ordered their breakfast variety, the benny burger, which included cheddar cheese and bacon. Bacon strips were translucent and mostly fat. If they could drain the grease better on the meat patty and use higher quality bacon, they would have earned a higher rating.

    Review Highlights - Fatburger

There was just the right amount of smash on the patty to give each mouthful a bit of crunchy grilled texture and taste with every juicy bite.

Everything was tasty, but watch out for the staining spicy sauce. The tacos could get quite messy, I'd recommend eating the fallen fillings with a fork. It's right next to Rogers Arena and Stadium-Chinatown Station, so expect lots of business on event nights. It wasn't too crowded on the night that I came, but I've passed by a few times and seen it full on weekend evenings. It's small so there's not much ambiance, but the staff were friendly. I got the vegetable burrito bowl. It was good but I sort of felt like there was no unifying element to it at first, but when I thoroughly mixed everything together to get the sauce distributed, that made it much better. After mixing it was pretty tasty, but a little heavy on the sauce. FYI the "marinated fried tofu" in the veg bowl is inari, not block tofu. I also got a glass of Asahi, which was nice - it's Asahi. I wasn't blown away, but it was a good quick meal that definitely beats out chain fast food.

This Mcdonalds is unique because there are no chairs and tables anywhere near the stand-alone mall…read morerestaurant. There are also no self-serve computer order kiosks. Eating in is not an option. Note that I came around 9pm on a Monday so maybe they took all the tables away earlier. Years ago when I visited this location, they had many chairs and tables just outside and inside the restaurant. Due to the awful area, a lot of homeless people were hanging around just sitting. Not necessarily eating. Now with the chairs and tables gone, there are barely any of them hanging around so I guess it's for the better. It didn't eliminate the problem entirely because as soon as I stepped out of the restaurant area I was asked a couple times by several people for a "rolling paper", extra change, or a lighter. Also, I noticed some of the windows of the restaurant were broken and boarded up with plywood. Yikes. It was VERY hot out (30 degrees!) So I decided to visit this McDonalds for a cheap but delicious frozen treat. I wanted to try their new peach smoothie but they ran out of it. I came later at 9pm so it's not surprising but it's still disappointing because I love peach smoothies. I settled for their strawberry banana smoothie. The smoothie I bought was delicious so I think it is very much worth it. It was refreshing and I could actually taste the strawberries and Banana flavors in it. In my opinion, a medium size is just enough to cool you down on an extremely hot day. Overall, their fruit smoothies are good! Good price too as it was "summer drinks day" time so it was only $2 for a medium one ($2.38 after tax and cup fee). Service could be better. There was a group of homeless looking people in front of me counting every dime, nickel and quarter to pay for their food so it took a really long time to wait to get my order in. There were 4 cash registers. Usually, another staff member would jump in and take another order using the other register but none came. Only one register was available and there were no self-serve kiosks. I had to wait 5-6 minutes to wait and get my order in even though there was only one order in front of me. Once I got my order in, it took a little longer than expected to get my smoothie, maybe 3-4 minutes. Usually it would take 1-2 minutes if it was not busy like this visit. I have a feeling that this Mcdonalds is either understaffed or just slow. Overall, I'd avoid this location if possible. Slower than expected service, and the type of people that are walking around in the area are not very, say, totally normal. Also there's nowhere to eat your food at the restaurant or near it. Kinda inconvenient. It's a decent grab and go place for the kind of stuff where you can walk and enjoy your food such as smoothies. Only giving 2 stars for the reasons stated above. I recommend you go to the slightly better Mcdonald's nearby instead. It's by Main Street - Science World skytrain station but only one short subway stop away from the Chinatown - Stadium Skytrain Station by the mall.

Otherwise I would have to wait anywhere from a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes because nobody (and I quote) nobody wanted to go into the back freezer for any of the beef patties and all that they had ready were the fish or chicken patties that had been sitting out under the warmer for a few hours!

Great flavor, nice snap, and I'm definitely interested in trying more of their menu options next time. The fries, though, were a bit of a miss for me.
