This place is the worst campground I've ever had the misfortune of paying for. They kicked me out…read moreafter I paid half down for the 26 season. That's right, then they refused to give me back my money. I lost $750 to these..........people. This was due to my 2 puppies that never barked. This family campground is just that. There's 15 family members that reside behind no trespassing signs on property. It was advertised as dog friendly which is a fib. Dogs must be on leash eternally. Plus there's 0 exercise area. Now that's real dog friendly. I tried to remedy that problem by offering to put in a fenced area for dogs for FREE, since if I was going to stay there for summer it was necessary for my 2 single year old high energy pups. At first this was fine by Jenny the girl who wears the pants and owns this setup But after driving to Belle plains, mn to get 100 ft of chain link fence off marketplace she changed her mind. I'm also out $120 for fence now on top of the $750. After a slightly heated discussion she gave me 24 hours to get out or cops get called I left within a few hours but never got a refund. She tells me to sue her! That's in the works. I'm 71 yrs old and live on SS exclusively so I desperately need that money but she could care less. She did offer to give me back a part of it but prorated it at weekly rate. A weekly rate was dramatically different than seasonal so I refused it. I also very kindly offered to leave no reviews anywhere if shed refund my money but she said I was attempting to extort her. Not at all, I was merely offering us both an easier way out of this nightmare. I never cost these folks one dime since my motorhome is entirely run on solar so no electricity was used and I never even deposited any trash there during my 1 week stay. She has been successful in getting my 2 previous reviews taken down from this platform so she must be regretting something. I'm only writing true facts that I lived through in this place. I've never in my entire life been treated like this and do not like it. Does this sound like the kind of place you want to stay?

His dog was on a leash…read morewhen it attacked 2 dogs, one of them was my daughter's dog that was also on a leash and he didn't even apologize. His dog was leashed both times that I saw. My wife and I have been here since they opened, we were the first to sign on. Every campground we have been to require you to keep your dog on a leash. This is very family safe campground. We see kids riding bikes and playing all the time.

The Bathrooms are being updated along with many other updates and looks great. The grounds are kept clean and the neighboring campers are wonderful. If we ever need anything Will & Laura are so kind and accommodating. This is a place where safety is felt. The caretakers watch and know who comes and goes at all times. We are so happy here. Awesome fire ring and Adriatic chairs. The cabins are very cozy with a clean modern updated interior and huge windows for viewing outdoors while inside the cabin. The property is beautiful and has lots of trail options onsite and near by. Came with a smores kit sticks for the fire and wood along with fire starters. The stars are unbelievable at night. Will be back. Family loved the location and easy access to cities and Duluth and nature all around.

My husband reserved a cabin here over a month in advance (we have to plan anything well ahead of…read moretime because of a complicated parenting schedule for his older kids, and a problematic ex-wife). Today, the day before we were to drive up and check in for our week-long cabin vacation, a man at the resort called and cancelled our reservation. My husband said the reason given was storm damage. I called the resort to gather more details--I wondered if perhaps the storm damage may have affected features of the resort we weren't planning to take advantage of. I didn't think it would hurt to double-check. The man on the phone was needlessly aggressive and excessively rude and disrespectful to me. It turned out that the real reason they cancelled our reservation was that we were supposed to have mailed in a deposit, in the form of a check, to hold our place. He claimed that he'd tried to call many times to ask for the deposit (IF that is true, he never left a voicemail). I offered to pay over the phone or via PayPal, but this business apparently exists in the dark ages; in addition to avoiding voicemail technology, they don't accept credit cards or payments over the internet--only checks or cash. So I assured the man that we could pay the full amount in person when we arrived, to which he rudely retorted with "Well why should I believe you? You're untrustworthy. You probably won't even show up." I assured him that we had planned our entire summer around this trip, that my husband and I are people of our word; it was our first time renting a cabin, we didn't have all the information necessary, and we would have sent the payment if we'd been properly informed. He continued to be rude and needlessly attack my character. I calmly told him that I would call my husband and see if he wanted to speak with the resort owner himself. He said he was glad to get off the phone with me because there were some "real, paying, GOOD customers there [he] wanted to talk to instead." I then called my husband, who said he'd never spoken with the man or received phone calls or voicemails about a deposit problem. My husband revealed that he'd just talked to a woman at the resort on Sunday (5 days ago). He isn't naturally a detail-oriented person, so when he realized he'd forgotten to send in the deposit, he called to apologize and assure her we still planned to come. The woman told him that up until he called, they had been considering canceling our reservation, but because my husband called to explain, she said that was confirmation enough and agreed to let us pay upon our arrival at the resort. Now we have to scramble to figure out what to do with the coming week--a week that my husband and I both requested off from work (I don't get paid time off, so I've forfeited a week's pay for this!). Will any other resorts have affordable cabins available at the last minute to accommodate 8 people for a week? I doubt it. This was our only opportunity to go somewhere special with my husband's older children this summer, and the man at Sunset Bay Resort in Aitkin, Minnesota, has ruined it by being 100% unwilling to be flexible or understanding, and adjust for his own failure to communicate with his female colleague. I called him back to let him know that my husband HAD been in communication with the woman at the resort, and she had said the amended plan to pay upon arrival was fine...but because the man had been so rude and disrespectful to me over the phone, we will never give them our business. I recommend all prospective customers do the same.

The cabins were big enough for…read moreour large family, the staff was helpful, the view was beautiful, the accommodations in the cabins were just like home and the resort is right inside of the town of Isle, MN so you're only about a block away from groceries or restaurants. It was a perfect location for our first family trip. The resort has boat rentals, so there is no need to bring your own boat if you don't want to. The resort sits on a bay on the south side of Lake Mille Lacs, so you've got some shelter from the rough water on the main part of the lake on a windy day, and the resort has a protected harbor with multiple boat slips in case you do want to bring your own boat. The only problem that the resort has is that it doesn't have a beach area attached to the resort. This is the only reason why I'm not giving it the full 5 starts. However there is a public beech just down the street that is easily accessible, and they do allow for swimming off of the docks, but the water there is a little deep for smaller kids, and with boats coming in and out of the harbor, it's not great for family swimming, although it's just fine for adults who'd like to just jump in and swim for a bit. The rental pontoons don't have ladders, you you can't jump out of them for swimming (which is another reason I'm not going with 5 stars) but we did find a nice little public boat launch with a sandy beach about one bay over from the resort. So, if you want to take the family or the boat and find a nice beech where you can anchor the boat and go for a swim, this spot is perfect! All in all, we were very happy with the resort, and we will be back the next time our family vacation takes us back to Mille Lacs.

We had lunch and the waitress seemed less than concerned about the timeline. To getting on the boat, and finding out the gear was iffy. There was a cooler with some tired leeches in it. And although the crew was nice, it was not a great experience. One walleye and three perch for 20+ people. Some dude vaping and smoking back-and-forth, not far away from us, no one seemed particularly concerned about that. It was early afternoon and I suppose that fewer fish should be expected, but it was definitely not an exceptional experience. Somebody said they were selling the place. But my opinion is that they should do a lot more to take care of the customers they still have, before that happens... If that happens... Nice enough crew, but I think they should continue to take care of the customers they still have regardless...

There was a nicely manicured area and a perfect aisle with chairs on both sides. This was a very picturesque site, and just perfect for the 20+ guests. If you plan on having your intimate wedding here, forgo the canned music and have a real musician play guitar, violin, or any stringed instrument. Golf course was not in good shape, and you could see great lack of general maintenance and groundskeeping on the property. Stick and tree branches that had fallen that had clearly been there for a while.
