It just happened to be just across the Airbnb in the center of Rome, hence ideal to drop in after a long and tiring flight and transfer from the airport. I mean, what can go wrong in an Italian restaurant. Almost nothing. But despite the substantial benefit of doubt, the food was less than I knew from the past multiple visits to Rome and less than I would have hoped for. The "tomato/buffalo mozzarella" was very good, the standard "insalata mista" boring, but most importantly, the pasta (really that should be the no-brainer) was below high expectations. Three different types all suffered from the same: too salty and very al-dente (meaning not sufficiently cooked). But forget it, no worries - the beer took care of it all. read more

Pasta in Italy? Who would've thought! After a couple "so-so" resturants we were giving up. We were thinking maybe we were ordering the wrong things. We were determined to get our fill of delicious pasta and thankfully we wandered in to Fattoincasa - and got possibly our best meal in Rome! I ordered a pasta with broccoli. It had a creamy sauce and was so amazing. The size was just right and for a lunch filled me up really good. I wasn't hungry till we got some pizza later that night - but that's another review. The place isn't too big but it's comfortable. They had free WiFi and I took full advantage by getting on Facebook and Yelp to see where our next stops would be! The servers were so nice and the food came out fairly fast. As I mentioned, best meal I had in Rome. Might be that I was ordering the wrong dishes at other places but I hit the nail on the head here. Not to say the other food was HORRIBLE but I was just expecting it to be as mindblowing as people said. This one blew my mind and I am currently salivating things about it. read more

Very, very good. This is my second time coming here and I've been craving the carbonara for over two years. My tastes have finally been satisfied!! The happy hour special was a glass of wine and bruschetta for €5. The carbonara was €9, more expensive than two years ago but the Euro has rebounded I see. Good for Italy this place is still cheap. The bruschetta was perfectly crusted on the outside And the olive oil vinaigrette had sifted the bread just enough. The chopped tomatoes were obviously organic non gmo. You can taste the difference from American tomatoes. The red wine was tasty and almost bubbly. It fit the weather perfectly, an overcast humid night slowly cooling. The carbonara was heavier than I remembered and the pasta was al dente. The plate seemed thicker and cheesier, almost to the point of grated cheese with the texture of grated pecorino parmigiana. *Posting this review now that I am back in the states and realize how much I miss eating pasta everyday. My roomie and I came to this eatery at least twice a week after school during our study abroad trip. The employees were so unbelievably nice, one of the places where we received the best service was here, at Fattoincasa. They always had a combo-deal going on, it was about 10€ (or was it 12€) for your choice of entree, a bruschetta and your choice of drinks (this includes wine), such an amazing deal and the portions were very generous. This place is four-star food (which is still enough to warrant yummy noises, like most Italian fare), but the service was five star. After being burned by a slow bar around the corner, my fiance and I were desperate for food, but had little time to get it. As we passed, we saw a sign for "fast lunch." We asked how fast and were told we could get apps in five minutes and our food fired immediately. They weren't joking! With 15 minutes, we got drinks, bruschetta, and perfectly al dente carbonara! Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was so nice! The best part of all was that it was only 10.50 euro a person! Great service and a great 9.5 Euro menu! We stayed across the way on week long vacation here in Roma and although we tried other places, sushi and other Italian places, we just kept coming back. The Americiara (sp?) pasta with bacon and cheese and tomato was amazing and so are all their huge salads. The staff was always uber friendly and we recommend them highly for quality and friendliness and atmosphere! Outside dining for people watching, or inside in the AC, depending on your mood. We stopped here for dessert one night and decided to come back for dinner the next evening. We thought the food was very good. The portions and value ranked highly on our list. I give it extra points for the ambiance, which was warm and welcoming. The owners were onsite at all times and they were attentive to their patrons. This gave us the impression that they actually wanted us there, which was a welcome change from many of the other dining experiences we had in Centro Storico. We have been in Rome for 3 days and have had great pastas and pizzas. My husband was craving steak and needed a break from the carbs. I am so glad we found this place on yelp! Our worst meal in Rome. Both of our pastas were very bad. Mine was way too salty and my wife's carbonara was unrecognizable. The service was also pushy and poor. The only redeeming quality was the free wifi.(not too redeeming as most restaurants have free wifi!) read more

We got to our apartment an hour earlier (11am) than check-in time (12pm) so asked if they were serving lunch yet. I read the reviews and I think the score is too low for a place like this. We dined here in a group of 7 people. We sit outside, the space was reduced but comfortable. We had appetizer and steak.
