First is the wait time of 45 Minutes to get your food as he served the sandwich ordered customers before plated customers even if they came in after you. Second I was over charged for extra items that I did not order but started he gave me on the house. charged $22 dollars for a sample platter (menu board $18) and $17+ for mixed plate $14+). Okay, wow. This place was recommended to me from a friend. It. Was. Incredible. GO HERE. EAT HERE. My fiancé and I had just spent a few hours walking around Broadway, checking out the scene like tourists. We were finally starving, where you can feel your stomach starting to cave and your mood begins to dip from fun to "ugh". We arrived at Fattoush's and it was pretty quiet. A few regular customers -- and then, from behind the plexiglass, Fattoush himself emerged like a god of ancient stories and times. We stood diligently in front of the glass and watched him prepare the other people's orders. My fiancé said to Fattoush, "I'll have what that guy ordered." He was drooling at a giant plate of food. Fattoush said, "This? I'm not even finished," and proceeded to pile even more food on. When it came my turn, I order the combo pocket thing. It was an extremely religious moment watching him prepare it; watching him drizzling on the sauce made my knees weak. We took the food back, and this is where the review gets even crazier. Up until now we had only been WATCHING him prepare the food and we were in awe. Finally we sank our teeth into it. And to this portion I say, unfortunately, that words DO not describe. I've heard a similar sentiment about viewing the Grand Canyon. Some things you just have to experience firsthand. And those things will change you and stick with you. GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. It was delicious. The meat was tender, the hummus flavorful, the rice was my favorite. I enjoyed the salad as well. I wasn't a big fan of the sauces, but my husband enjoyed it. Great little spot near Vandy we stopped in for a quick afternoon snack before our dinner reservation that evening at 8pm. The family running the place are super friendly and make some great food! We had a salad with shawarma chicken along with an order of grape leaves. All the food was very authentic and had some deep delicious flavor profiles. We grabbed at chicken shawarma gyro togo for our buddy who said it was the best he had found in town thus far. They also had international soccer on TV which always is a plus for meeting other nice folks in the dining room. We will be back on our next trip to town, for sure!!! read more

The classic Greek style restaurant. The staff is always friendly, and inviting and willing to serve whenever you are ready. Located right off the side of a pretty busy street, they have an inviting atmosphere. They just invite you to stay as long as you want. The food is 10 out of 10, and they are willing to fix or redo anything that you think is not good. This is a restaurant 19 at least once a month and I suggest you do the same. read more

Pricing scam! Based on other reviewers it's been happening for at least two years. Conveniently the menu on the TVs was out so they told us to use their menu online. Like others have stated, the price online and what is rung up is dramatically different. My meat salad (salad with gyro meat on top) shows $5.99 small/$9.16 large online but when I ordered a small was charged $14.99. Small hummus is $7.32 online and rang up $9.99. All total my salad, my husband's lamb shawarma, a side of hummus, two drinks and a baklava was $50; almost double what we were expecting. We paid and looked at the receipt and realized what had happened. When we asked the owner about he said the menu online hadn't been updated since covid and blamed it on the restaurant owner. To "make up for the difference" he gave me $5 from the register (I paid with card) and before we left wanted to give me another gyro salad to go. Something scammy is going on here. Beware that you'll be overcharged! This is a huge disappointment since I went here before I moved to the west side and loved it. I hadn't been back since before covid. We won't be back. read more

Awesome unsuspecting middle eastern spot hidden right outside downtown Nashville. I had one of the plates and the portion was huge and the food was absolutely delicious. The gyro meat had plenty of flavor and remained juicy in every bite while the falafel was heart shaped and perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Served up with some perfectly cooked yellow rice and the silkiest hummus I've ever had this Fattoush cafe absolutely delivered. The customer service is absolutely amazing. It's a family run restaurant and everyone is super friendly and seems to love working at Fattoush. The menu is very confusing. It isn't clear what is included in each meal and the daily specials are a little overpriced. They come with a lot of food but you can get a plate for half the price and still get a hefty portion. I ended up with a falafel plate which is not listed on the menu (?). It was basically the trio vegetarian without the dolmathes or tzatziki sauce. It came with yellow rice topped with falafels, hummus, salad & pita bread. The falafel was extra crispy but a bit bland and dry. The hummus was good and flavorful. So I've been here enough times to make a more balanced observation. Honestly, I almost kept it at a 3 because the highs and lows balance out to the middle but the food is really good and deserves another notch, ultimately. So yeah, the food--really good Middle Eastern food, some solid Mediterranean as well. The gyros and fries are delicious, the falafel is on point, and I finally tried the sampler platter so I could get a taste of everything I'd been missing: stuffed grape leaves, hummus, all the other assorted meats, etc. By the way the sampler is HUGE and a bit pricey (17 bucks after tax and a drink) and I couldn't finish it all. As everyone as mostly mentioned the owner is super friendly. Every time I've been it's been lunch time and there have been three folks working, all very friendly and who seemed to care about their customer. However, as everyone has pretty much mentioned, it's going to take you some time to eat. It's made to order so give them some grace but I've tried being there when the doors unlock and being the first customer as well as coming 30 minutes or an hour later. Come to late and there's a line out the door. Come to early and no prep has been done. You're going to wait 20 or 30 minutes for your food so just expect it. The only thing that ultimately dings this place in my opinion is the pricing. I never know how much anything costs. There are no up to date menus. If you look online you think you can get a gyro for $4 or 5 dollars. I've never walked out of here spending less than $13 and that's just for a gyro, fries, and a can of coke. The menu on the wall isn't very helpful. Often I'd see people in front of me ordering things that looked delicious and I didn't know what they'd ordered and on finding out it was something I didn't see on the wall in the first place. So in summary: great food, wonderful staff, long waits, fairly pricey made to order food. read more
