Had a wonderful experience purchasing a piano from Adam. He was very knowledgeable and patient. I played a bunch of different pianos in the showroom, never felt pressured to buy, and got a thorough breakdown of financing options which were incredibly customizable. The piano was delivered in under a week to my house. Can't recommend this place enough if you are looking for a guaranteed high quality instrument!

As a fairly new piano player I was overwhelmed with buying a used baby grand. After visiting multiple showrooms and private sellers I realized that most sellers are welcoming, caring, and eager to help by sharing their time and knowledge. Even still I was wowed by Adam Chester when my wife and I first walked into Keyboard Concepts. He was charming, friendly and very understanding about what we were looking for and helped us narrow down our options. We left to continue our hunt, not wanting to rush our decision, but after a long day of seeing pianos we were drawn back to Adam because of how comfortable he made us feel and how trusting we were in him that we were buying a great piano that we'd love for a long time. It's only been a week, but we've been loving our new to us Kawai GE-1 baby grand. Thank you, Adam. You truly helped make this a pleasurable experience!!!

Support local Sherman oaks shop. Filled out an inquiry form online and was contacted swiftly. Needed to trade in a baby grand as it wouldn't fit with our newly remodeled home. Was contacted by Adam and came in to see him. It was a pure pleasure. Walking in on a Thursday and was playing my new upright Piano on Saturday. Very fair place and just a great overall experience. Thank you.

I bought a beautiful new piano from Faust Harrison/Keyboard Concepts about six weeks ago. My experience with the salesperson Adam was mediocre, but I didn't care because the piano really sold itself. The first time I came into the store, and fell in love with the instrument, I left my card because in the middle of talking with me he had to go get on the phone, and he never followed up. So I guess I sold myself the piano. NBD, there's worse things. Fast forward, the piano is delivered to my house. No follow up call or check-in from Adam, just an automated survey to fill out--which I actually deliberately did NOT return because I was so underwhelmed and didn't want to undermine Adam professionally. I figured he probably meant well. Six weeks later I am wondering about tuning, like when the piano was tuned, when I should have it tuned, etc. so I texted Adam. What transpired next was so odd and disgusting to me, so for believability I am attaching the screen shots. But in essence, Adam had promised me a complimentary tuning as part of the buy, then once I paid never followed up about it--and purposefully OMITTED TO MENTION IT after I asked him directly about just that. My grandma told me a story once about when she was 7 years old and living in Detroit during the Great Depression. Her family never had any money. She got onto a bus and tried to dodge the fare, which was a nickel. The bus driver looked up at her and said, "Is your dignity only worth a nickel?" That story comes to mind here. I am guessing (no idea) that the tuning cost would come out of the sales commission, and Adam just preferred to pocket it and try and pull a fast one. The most remarkable part, for me, is that since this little exchange four days ago, I have not heard a peep from him to try to make good, correct or apologize for the situation, let alone set up a tuning. Honestly I am aghast. Never buying from this place again, and telling all my valley friends (some of who have) to steer clear. Such a sad reflection of the decrepit moral turpitude that plagues our once ethical society.

If you're thinking of buying a piano or a keyboard, then go see Todd Peterson at Keyboard Concepts immediately. He's a patient, kind, and knowledgeable man, knows all of the piano secrets. We saw him three times before we closed on a beautiful new Yamaha YUS5. Answered every single question and went above and beyond. Absolutely no doubt in our minds that he's the best in town. See Todd and buy your piano because you won't regret it.

For starters, the windows and posters have seen their days that one might think that it is out of business, but it is in fact not and quite the opposite - tons of space inside! They have a variety of instruments and supplies, including a cleaning swab which I was looking for. And the plus is that they also offer music lessons in private rooms - even same day! I had an initial same-day oboe lesson with Phil, and we had great conversation. However, I have to admit that I didn't learn too much, and that we spent most of the time talking. The person working at the front was pretty chill, but paying for lessons wasn't very clear from the beginning - recommend being more specific with those. Their website is via Tumblr (?) which is a surprise. Lessons were $40 / session, and they recommend one session per week (but how long is a session?). Overall, I wish that there was more clarity on this side from time to payment the moment that we signed up. Parking was fairly easy to find on the street or in the lot in the back. However, do note that parking on the street is via metered parking and not free most hours. Return? Potentially for some music books!

They carefully listened to my needs, explained the differences between various piano models, and helped me find the best option without trying to upsell me. Their recommendations were thoughtful, practical, and based on what was genuinely right for me. The store itself is beautiful, well-organized, and filled with high-quality instruments. Every piano was well maintained and sounded fantastic. I appreciated having the opportunity to spend time trying different pianos in a comfortable and welcoming environment. Customer service here is truly exceptional. It's rare these days to find a business that combines expertise, integrity, and genuine care for customers so well. Whether you are a beginner, an experienced pianist, or a parent looking for a piano for your child, you can feel confident that you will be treated with respect and receive honest guidance. Thank you to the entire team for making this such a positive experience. This is exactly the kind of local business that deserves support and recognition. Five stars without hesitation!

I stopped by on the way home to explore modular synths for the first time, hoping I'd get that "feeling" like this is a perfect fit for me. Thanks to seeing Big City Music here on Yelp, I drove to their address but had trouble finding the building because there were no signs anywhere. From Ventura, it looked like there was an abandoned building at the address listed. So, I called and talked to Roger. He was great to talk to and said they usually ask customers to make an appointment to stop by. Lucky for me they were available at that time and I could stop in. He gave me better directions, since the entrance was actually off Ventura Blvd. Big City Music is unlike any other music store I've been to. It feels like I'm entering a "secret club" where you go enter through back door and walk into a room-sized warehouse full of boxes and supplies everywhere. Roger was glad to see me and introduced himself right away. He then pointed me to the demo room, where there are several large modular synths, some (very nice) keyboards, guitar pedals, vintage gear and a couple people (Stephi and Morgan) ready to help out. I mentioned I was new to modular synths and wanted to mess around a bit to get a feel for what they can do. Stephi cleared off a module and handed me some patch cables to mess around as much as I wanted. I never felt rushed the entire time I was there. At first, I was clueless. Just clueless. I started having doubts immediately. What the F was I doing here? Rather than allowing them to hear my embarrassingly-awful sounds I'd be making, I popped on some headphones and patched on the fly. After a half-hour, I felt comfortable enough to ask Morgan a few questions about the basics. He jumped right in on their massive modular and started patching like a mad scientist, showing me what all the modules can do. I was very impressed with his knowledge and passion. I instantly felt at ease, even though I had very little knowledge of what was going on. The way he explained things were super helpful. Since my first visit, I decided to take the dive into modular and have returned. I bought a Monorocket case, some patch cables and a few modules to get me started. I'll definitely be coming back here to fill up my case over the coming months and ask for a couple more tutorials. I'm very lucky to live so close to this great store and to learn from awesome people. Cheers--
