I went in to buy some chocolate. I asked the lady what she recommends. The lady then begins to say they sell acting lessons across the street and she is not going to recommend something. I was in disbelief as I came across as nice and kind and was genuinely just asking for what sells the most? Some type of guidance. It was the most awkward experience I have ever come across! After I picked up on her sarcasm, I let her know, you know what I'm ok, thank you. As I was walking out she said don't believe everything you read on the internet. I have no clue what she is referring to. If you go for some chocolate do not ask what do you recommend. Weirdest experience I have ever had. We placed an order online for a box of chocolates for a birthday gift. Half an hour later we were in town and stopped by to see if we could pick up the order. There was a sign on the door saying that they would be right back. Stopped by again 4 hours later and the sign was still on the door. We received a message that our order was canceled and the payment had been returned. read more

This is a small chocolate shop located in historic downtown. If you blink you may miss the entrance. We entered on a Saturday night around 5:30 and were surprised at how small it was. The woman working explained the difference between the cases and it turns out half the chocolate is made out of the US and the other in the states. The employee was patient and super kind, props to her! Most of the chocolate is priced by the pound or by the piece meaning if you only want a couple pieces you're not forced to buy an entire box. We ended up getting 4/5 pieces and it came to $7. I think this is a great little shop and offers a selection that is sure to please anyone. Next time we are in town we will definitely stop by again. I believe this is now called Favor. The customer service was exquisite when i came in today. The lady at the counter was extremely helpful with every possible thing i could need. Another woman popped out from the bank when i mentioned giving gift of a book and chocolate to a friend, and she pointed out that they sell local authors books, as well. Today they were out of macarons, but they will be selling those as well as chocolate. I got great chocolate recommendations, book recommendations, new local authors to look into -- all in one stop! much better than when it was Frenchman's, i never got such personable service, then. I ended up buying seven individual pieces of chocolate and was surprised there was an option for tip when i was paying. With all the information the young lady gave me, i was delighted to leave her an extra three bucks‍ i wish i took a pictures of the box of chocolates before i mailed them off, oh well! read more

Apparently you can't come in and buy just one piece of chocolate--there is a 4 piece minimum. Who does that? Weird, We bought 8 pieces because we wanted to, not because of an odd minimum purchase requirement. As for the chocolate, it was good but the selection was limited; certainly not what the Yelp pics suggest. I'm a salted caramel fan and that was a hit. I think what I did not like was that they were not very friendly or welcoming--felt like I was in North Virginia instead of down home Fredericksburg. I'm not coming back. You shouldn't either. Several points: 1. Neuhaus Chocolatier - in the overdue process of being rebranded as FAVOR - is in the former Frenchman's Corner/Cacao Nook storefront but is under new ownership/management as of November 2019. 2. That's FOUR DIFFERENT identities in very little time. 4 different Social Media profiles; 4 different management/ownership schemes for us consumers to contend with. 3. The latest owner is rebranding as FAVOR but intends to retain the previous identities online for the sake of the positive reviews under the previous owners. 4. That's like a car dealership with a new owner selling a different brand of cars at the same location, but retaining all the previous positive Yelp/Social Media reviews earned under the previous ownership & different brand. NOT ETHICAL! 5. The new owner actually told me this was precisely her intent. 6. When I pointed out the confusion & unethical way she was misusing Yelp/Social Media, she then backtracked to feign ignorance, even though she currently uses Facebook - a venue in which she can delete negative reviews. And where she cobs years of only the favorable reviews of her new acquisition's previous incarnations. UNETHICAL! 7. I STRONGLY support Fredericksburg's Caroline Street entrepreneurs and small businesses everywhere that earn OUR trusting patronage. 8. When FAVOR's Proprietress clears up this Neuhaus Chocolatier / Frenchman's Corner / Cacao Nook Yelp & Facebook ethical FIASCO, I'll change this to an appropriate 'FAVOR'-able review. read more

Wonderful selection and quality, totally worth the high prices, but, that being said, they should POST THE PRICES. Very awkward to have to ask. Especially if I'm browsing, I'm certainly not going to ask, "How much are these, and these, and these, and these,...?" and then forget how much each was anyway. I don't understand the lack of transparency. read more
