I've had the same amazing hairstylists, Mercedes and Sara (the owner), for years--at this point, they feel like family. I just got a fresh haircut to kick off my semester, and--no surprise--I absolutely love it! One thing I've noticed recently is how much the salon has stepped up its game, especially online and with customer interactions. The stylist then explained that she was going to do just three braids so I let her go before me. I wish she had said that beforehand, and those 3 braids took 45mins. The day before my appointment, I texted the owner several reference photos of the exact hairstyle I wanted. It was my natural hair only . no extensions, no added hair,braided neatly to wear under a wig. I asked for the price, and the owner quoted me $40.To avoid any confusion, I asked TWICE , and she confirmed $40 both times.I even have the text messages to prove it. I made the appointment for 1:00 p.m. and traveled over an hour by bus based on the price the owner gave me. The moment I sat down with the braider and mentioned the $40 quote, she immediately looked confused and said there was no way that style should cost $40. I showed her my text messages with the owner. The braider wasn't the issue at all she was mostly professional and was simply trying to understand why the owner had quoted a price that didn't make sense. When the owner finally got on the phone, instead of apologizing for her mistake, she immediately became rude, argumentative, and accusatory. She actually asked me why I thought the style would only cost $40 and said, "You knew what you were doing." **Excuse me?** **I DIDN'T make up the price. YOU did.** I asked you for a quote. **Twice.** You confirmed **$40 twice.** I didn't negotiate. I didn't pressure you. I simply accepted the price **you** gave me. Then the excuses started. She claimed she thought I was only asking for the cost of parting my hair. That explanation makes absolutely no sense because my very first message included multiple photos of the hairstyle, and I specifically told her I wanted my natural hair braided like the pictures to wear under my wig. She even asked if I was going to braid it myself. After I explained that I wanted it done to wear under my wig, she replied again that the price was **$40.** She later admitted she may have been tired or at work and didn't read the messages carefully. That's not my responsibility. As a business owner, it is your responsibility to read customer messages before quoting prices. Customers should not have to pay for your mistakes after they've rearranged their schedule and traveled over an hour to your business. The most disappointing part wasn't even the incorrect quote ,it was the complete lack of accountability. There was no genuine apology. Instead, I was blamed for believing the price that the owner herself quoted. Again, I want to be clear that the braider who was supposed to do my hair was mostly respectful and professional. My complaint is entirely about the owner and how she conducts business. If this happened to me, I can't help but wonder how many other customers have experienced something similar. !!!!!Save yourself the frustration.
