What a fun shop! Stopped in to buy a gift for my best friend but they didn't have what I wanted to buy him. I'm told they normally carry it but the Valentine's Day holiday depleted their inventory. My partner and I were made aware of this place when we hit up the vendor booths during Austin Kink Weekend in April. Package Menswear had a table set up with a small selection of garments and items representative of their in-store stock, which we browsed while chatting up the two employees. They were pleasant enough to interact with (and rocking some of their own shop's attire) and encouraged us to come out to their physical location sometime. Since pride month is fast approaching, last night we did just that. We found the place pretty easily and parked in the back. Not tons of spots, but it wasn't super busy even on a Saturday evening. My husband HAD to park in the "SLUT PARKING ONLY" spot; he thought it was so damn hilarious. Anyway, we walked around to the entrance facing the street and were greeted by the two employees there (one we recognized from the kink event), who asked what we were looking for or if we were browsing. We had specifically come for a collar (I'd called ahead just to be sure they carried pup play items since it was a bit of a drive up from our residence in Buda), and they directed us to their selection, then told us to feel free to let them know if we needed any further assistance or had questions. We thanked him. I will say that he came back to check on us a couple of times and start yakking at us about this or that item he was curious about trying and stuff. I get it, he was trying to help sell stuff, but I kind of wanted him to leave us alone to shop, I wasn't really interested in "socializing" with horny employees, LOL. Thankfully once a few additional customers entered the store and we weren't the only ones in there, the employee turned his attention to assisting them and gave us some space. Just pointing it out: couples might like privacy. They did have a pretty interesting selection. It's not just your run-of-the-mill, find-it-alongside-the-highway sex shop. There is a heavy bias toward gay male clientele (which is unsurprising, considering the name of the establishment) in the attire department. You'll find lots of great sexy underwear (and many familiar desirable brands), swimwear, shirts/tops, etc. But there's also plenty of kinky toys/accessories/dildos/etc. toward the back. We had fun browsing it all before making a purchase selection (we stick to a monthly budget, which, believe it or not, is sort of sexy) and flagging some things "for later" when we inevitably come back. ;) The staff are a bit anal (forgive the pun) about trying things on. They made us put on gloves just to remove a harness from its box to get a better look at it, and once my husband tried on a shirt, they said they had to steam it before returning it to the rack. On one hand, it was a bit annoying, on the other I admire their commitment to keeping things clean. If you are going to shop, just be aware you'll have to follow their procedures. Before we head out, we asked to use the restroom, which was behind the checkout counter. They had zero toilet paper. They hadn't "run out"; there weren't empty cardboard tubes... they just clearly never bothered to even stock TP. Again, their typical customer is gonna be gay men who "shake off," but I felt compelled to inform them that transmen may need to wipe so they should PROBABLY have TP. The employee blamed some other employee that conveniently wasn't present, rather than owning up to it, which was pretty lame. C'mon guys. So yeah, 5-stars for having a great selection of product, but minus a star for the employees being a little clueless about proper customer service for ALL varieties of customer (couples/trans/etc). read more

This was my first visit here, and it's a fun store with cool merchandise and very friendly and helpful employees. I am a little too old and gross for most of the clothing they sell, but they have a great selection of adult toys, along with other more everyday things like funny greeting cards. It's nice to see a LGBTQ-oriented business that still exists in downtown Austin (but I think by no means will you feel uncomfortable here if you're straight). This place is amazing. The new mngmnt has gone through and made some major improvements. From selection, to presentation, they have put some love into what was once Skivvies, and it is wonderful. The store has been reorganized and is now much easier to find things in. On top of that they have installed new clothing racks, flooring, and lighting. The place is much brighter and cleaner than it was. The selection has also been changed/added/updated. I walked in to browse and walked out spending $75, with a big grin on my face. But that $75 didn't spend/sell itself. The staff here is wonderful. They know their product, they know their store, and they know their clients. From sizing, to cuts, to fabric, they will not point you in the wrong direction. So there you have it, my undies and swimwear rant. This is one of those local businesses that I feel really comfortable going to to get swim trunks. They let me try them on, they have a great selection, and the customer service is amazing. They carry some brands and products that one would normally have to order online so it's nice because they will help the item. The parking lot is never really busy so there is plenty of parking. We are getting ready for a cruise in October so having a store that carries the things we need is so convenient and affordable. This store has DISMAL customer service. I bought two pairs of $22+ briefs and after just four weeks one pair is frayed while the other is fine. I was told "Our exchange limit is 2 weeks from purchase.  Once there is evidence of wash /wear damage/stains we forfeit any exchanges.  Our staff is not authorize anything outside of those parameters. In addition, please be aware garments are to be hand washed and dried." I did line dry the briefs, and yet nowhere on the product is there any mention of hand washing or drying. I returned the item at the store and the guy at the counter was dismissive and told me to email customer support and send photos. What is this an insurance claim? Most retailers accept returns without any hesitation.This item was defective, and yet they do not stand behind their products. I will certainly never walk in the door of this store again. read more

I love how negative reviews come from customers wanting to return worn/dirty/used underwear and items. Like wow! A great twist is, if you come in with some tight briefs, you can try on the under garments over them. You get the perfect fit you want so you don't have to go back and exchange. The staff is totally willing to give suggestions and show you garments you might not have thought of trying. Not to mention, everything gets steamed before going back out on the racks. Admittedly, some of the items here can be pricey, but you get what you pay for. Package carries high end, well made brands imported from places like Barcelona where they do not outsource to third parties for cheap labor manufacturing. Someone is getting exploited for those low prices, people! This is not Walmart. My fave is Package's "naughty" side. They have a great selection of fetish wear and adult toys for men at the back of the store. They range from fun novelty to expensive, sturdy, high end restraints and devices. So i've been here multiple times trying to give a local store which happens to be the only gay store some business but the service is terrible. Unfortunately like previous posts I have encountered an array of uninviting staff members at this location. I had one person help who was super nice, he isn't there anymore though. Aside from their policy of no returns which I understand since they are undergarments, I purchased a $50 pair of underwear that came unraveled after one wash. They told me, "we're sorry but we don't do exchanges". When that is all I wanted. I was finally able to exchange the garment but had to speak to someone in Dallas who was just as unfriendly. There is so much potential for this store but with service and staff like this I don't think it will be successful. So just like someone before said, "same layout just a different name". read more

I was a repeat customer. Have had good experiences in Package. A few months ago I spent one evening letting my boyfriend buy ANYTHING he liked in the store. I've dumped a lot of money into Package over the years. This place is expensive, but I like to shop local. And shopping local affords you the ability to get great customer service...right?!? During my last visit I wanted to buy a toy for my boyfriend's birthday. The rep explained the return policy and I understood that if the item was still in it's packaging, I could bring it back for store credit/exchange. The toy was not the right size so I brought it back. I was happy to just get a store credit for future use. Note, the toy was not removed from the packaging. In fact, it was still connected to the package itself and would have been impossible to try on. One of the representatives was open to giving me the return. The other went over to inspect similar toys to make a case that the toy I was bringing back had been used. He made me feel as if I was trying to pull one over on them! I'm insulted. Here I am, a middle-aged woman taking time off of work to go do this and some fella is scouring the shelves to try and prove me a liar? I'm just going to take my business elsewhere. Pro Tip: Everything in this store can be found online for much less. P.S. I left the toy there. Told them to enjoy it. "The inspector" said they couldn't keep it so I told him to throw it away. What am I to do with it? There's $150 down the drain. read more

So I walked into Package about two months ago in search of a simple black and white jockstrap. I had never been before and was excited to simply be in an environment that caters to gay men (everyone is welcome of course but gay men are definitely celebrated in this space). I came in a novice and walked out a part of the Package family....to simplify, they were phenomenal!! I walked in, and not completely comfortable in my own skin, I was greeted warmly and instantly treated like an old friend. This in part is due to the inherent nature of the atmosphere the store aims to create but in my own experience there that day, one of the sales associates, Jon, was a tremendous component in making sure I returned as regular customer. I didn't feel judged...I didn't feel uncomfortable...I felt at home, and to be totally honest, not every 'gay-friendly space' has made me feel welcomed like this. To give you some perspective, I'm not completely self-confident within my own body-image, but I tried on a jockstrap and asked Jon's opinion...to which he responded honestly yet sincerely. To this day, I wear that garment and feel 100% myself. I was fortunate to be placed in a no-judgement zone that day and feel absolutely confident with who I am as a person. It's silly to think one article of clothing can do that, to which I would agree. It had nothing to do with the underwear I purchased but everything to do with the staff and the open environment that I was warmly welcomed in to. A good friend told me I just had to stop by here while visiting from out of town, so before going over to the Chain Drive we stopped in here. Two words. Free. Mimosas. Apparently on Sundays they have discounts and complimentary mimosas for customers. Great way to start my day in Austin! I recently went in to Package Menswear while I was visiting Austin for NYE weekend, with my partner. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Jason. He was very friendly and incredibly knowledgeable of the products. He recommended trying on the underwear he helped us find. He was spot on with sizing, comfort and fit. It can be awkward for all parties involved when trying on undies but Jason definitely made us feel comfortable which made our underwear buying experience enjoyable. Who wears short shorts? (Nair commercial reference.) I'm not a huge fan of swimming trunks that engulf people's bodies like Hammer pants cut off at the knees, and that seems to be what most men relegate themselves to these days. If only they knew that Package had options apart from the "I stole an ogre's running shorts" swimwear! Package carries a lot of hard to find European brands, as well as some fresh, American designers. My particular favorite is the Sauvage square cut shorts which flatter everyone. Try them on, you'll thank me. I know a lot of people think that Package only caters to the LGBTQ community, but everyone is welcome, and trust me... I've seen more than my fair share of straight, married couples browsing their wares. Literally worst customer service I have ever experienced. Paid 60 dollars for a swimsuit I bought. It didn't fit so I went back to return it. The store manager there and said he could only give me store credit. So after the clerk told me I could return it before 14 days they now said I could only have store credit. Then when I said okay and was trying on a different pair of shorts the store manager (think his name was Steve) told me he had to "make a call" down stairs if he could even take my shorts back. Then comes back up a minute later and says he can't give me store credit. I said why and he tells me the shorts are dirty and dusty. I said where. He got all flustered and didn't answer my question. So I brought them up to a identical pair in the store and they were EXCATLY THE SAME! He just didn't want me to get store credit. Then tells me I'm trespassing and I had to leave or he'd call the police. Never quite experience any kind of costumer service this awful but I really hope no one goes back to that store! read more
