If you ask they will show you the cost of the parts they are ordering so you know your not getting cheated and if there is a problem they will do there best to get it done quick. Don't let the area of the fact that it's little scare you off it really is reliable and by far some of the best work I've gotten. I have another family mechanic who I went to for years before this and switched after a few visits because they don't do anything half way here.

The difference was night and day--better customer service, better communication, and a much more transparent experience. Unfortunately, after they stopped servicing Alfa Romeo vehicles, I had no choice but to return to Helfman when my check engine light came on. The first issue was that the earliest appointment available was a week out. I scheduled my diagnostic for Thursday, July 23. I drove about 30 miles, took time off work, and arrived expecting my vehicle to be evaluated that day. Instead, I was told it would be 4-6 business days before they could even perform the diagnostic. The service advisor said they had tried to call me, but I had no missed calls or messages. What's even more frustrating is that I had spoken with the service department a couple of days earlier to ask about loaner vehicles, and at no point did anyone mention this delay. As a result, I wasted time, fuel, and a vacation day, only to be told my appointment didn't actually mean my car would be looked at. I'm genuinely confused why the dealership allows customers to schedule service appointments if the vehicle isn't going to be seen on the scheduled day. If the diagnostic queue is already several days behind, that should be communicated upfront so customers can make an informed decision. Based on my experiences, I won't be returning to Helfman Alfa Romeo.

This company and the owner is completely dishonest. Completely…read more I took my car to Mike many many years ago for a prebuy. During that encounter, I will NEVER forget how disrespectfully he spoke to his mother who was at the counter helping him run his business. After moving back to Houston and desperately looking for a trustworthy TDi mechanic, I decided to give him another try. It was a huge mistake. Mysteriously, Mike and team said my car had an issue with the immobilizer and would not run. I happen to know quite a bit about these cars. So I played along, waiting for Mike to fix the "issue" with the car. Days of waiting for them to get the work done became weeks. And weeks became months. Frustrated, I found reputable people online who repair the clusters from these cars. They go on to tell me that Mike is lying because the year and model of my car make what he claims the issue to be impossible. I called literally every week for an update and got the same answer "Mike isn't around, can I take a message?" Never did I get a call back. Never did I get a reply to my emails. So, after six months I had the car towed across Houston to another shop, and intentionally didn't tell them about what Mike had said. A few hours after it was towed there they call me and we're very confused. The shop owner literally said "there's nothing wrong with this car." He programmed the keys (which I could have done myself) and it ran perfectly. There was and is no issue with the immobilizer. There is and was no issue with the speedometer cluster. I've now been driving it for about a year without a single problem. Mike is dishonest. The guy who answers the phone for Mike and lies for him is dishonest. And, who talks to their mother that way? 2008 and I'll never forget what I saw from a grown man on that day. I was warned, and now you have been, too. Let me clarify a few things here just so there's nothing left for interpretation. As the business owner states I did not "finally" pick up my vehicle. You never fixed my vehicle. You never answered or returned my calls You never replied to my emails (photos of which I'll upload here for future prospective customers to see). If you didn't reply all you have to do is post those photos.... But you never did. So, after you failing to be able to program keys to a car, again something I've done myself to VW's, another shop did it in under an hour. You just didn't care and you made no effort to communicate with me at all. Ever.

All they see $$$$ walkin thru the door. But thank God I found C C Auto. shop! They've been my mechanic for years!!! When they say they fixed something, they FIX IT!!! Not patch it up, not kinda fix so it breaks in the next 6 months so you have to come back to them & spend MORE $$!!! The owner Mr. Henry is a truly honest man & knows his stuff. Their pricing is very fair. This shop is the last of a dying breed: Honest mechanics that actually love working on vehicles & helping people w/o scamming & price gauging the crap out of them.

I recently took my 2001 Honda Accord in because it was leaking oil (it has 260k mi). David looked at it, diagnosed it, and told me that the cost to fix wouldn't be worthwhile given the car's value. He suggested I just keep adding oil to the engine as needed and changing it at regular intervals. I tried to pay him for his time, but he wouldn't take any money.

But when it comes to Service, I wholeheartedly believe I'm being scammed. At the beginning of the summer, I took my car in and asked if they could look at the AC system. They came back with a diagnosis of a new blower saying this would be several thousand. When I questioned this, it was taken to the Volvo dealership and Volvo confirmed that the AC was working properly! Thank goodness, I asked Volvo to look at it. Now to yesterday. I took my car in because the check engine light came on. I also asked for a 50,000 mile Service. As before, I was texted a quote with no breakdown of cost. This quote was over $6000 saying my car needed a new catalytic converter and three sensors. A 3 year old car needs a new catalytic converter?? When I told them I would pick up my car they then called Volvo and found out that a catalytic converter is covered under a warranty. Not just any warranty, but a federal mandate that says it is covered completely under 80,000 miles. Wouldn't a service provider at a dealership know that? I think this service department sees a woman walking in, assumes I don't know anything and just sees $$$. I do not recommend this dealership and I've completely lost my faith in them.
