As part of the…read moreremodel, bathroom and closest *needed* to be repainted, which left wife and I thinking about just having entire downstairs repainted. Sought 4 paint estimates for the work -- HyTone was in the middle. Why did I chose HyTone? First, when Tony (owner of HyTone) came to do the estimate, he took his shoes off prior to coming into house. (None of the other companies did this.) Now, I told all 4 companies I was having my floor redone, so perhaps it's why others didn't, but I appreciated the gesture. Second, out of the estimates done, one "eyeballed" everything, one used a laser pointer, one gave a verbal price per square foot estimate, and finally Tony took the time to actually measure things out with a good old fashioned tape measure. (Note that I work in the tech field... I'm all for technology and simplification, but something about actually measuring all the angles vs holding a laser to get a 'rough' estimate of size strikes me as detailed vs. 'approximately right'...) Third, of the written estimates, HyTone's simply looked the most professional. One estimate I received had some glaring errors/lack of detail. Another didn't specify how many coats were to be applied. HyTone's estimate was very specific and detailed -- covering both them and me. How was the work? Tony's crew (I don't recall their names unfortunately) were fantastic -- professional, hard-working, and courteous. They showed up on-time (if not a few minutes EARLY), every day, working from ~7:20am-4pm. Walls & ceiling all look fantastic. Further, they left no mess behind, and even accommodated a request we had to have an additional room of the house after the project already started. They even removed the TV off the wall mount so paint behind it, and also swapped-out a light bulb in a very hard-to-reach spot for me. All-told, having the downstairs painted was NOT cheap... But HyTone did great work at a price comparable to the other quotes I had received, and wouldn't hesitate to hire them again for my future painting needs.

This alone made us very happy. Then he referred us to Jose who was able to install them and replace our failing wheelchair ramp and railing prior to painting. Jose even updated our shudders to an attractive and updated window trim. It was such a relief to find Devin had answers to so many of the issues that held us back from painting and updating sooner. Devin allowed us to test out several options of paint samples as he wanted to be sure we would be happy with the decision. He answered all of our questions, always making us feel welcome to ask them and leaving us satisfied with the answers. I really appreciated the discussions about sheen, tone, texture, etc. Devin and his team did the power washing, calking and other prep work as well as moving objects out of the way as it would have been difficult for us to do so. Is quote was reasonable; not the lowest and not the highest. His staff was polite, efficient with time and made sure the work area was cleaned up each day, making sure the gate to the back yard was always shut to ensure the safety of our new puppy. In the busiest time of the year, Carlos kept us informed on when they anticipated to start on our project. The project actually started sooner than I had anticipated and I had not selected the house colors! He recommended using Benjamin Moore on Powell and to work with their color consultant. She was amazing. Carlos also went out of his way to show me pictures and to bring color samples by the house to help in the decision making process. Having to travel prior to final color selection was difficult. Carlos was flexible, rearranging the order of painting, to accommodate travel and to ensure that we would be happy with the final color selection. Once the project started he did a thorough walk around identifying rotting regions around windows and doors and personally replaced rotten wood and caulking all holes, cracks,etc. The end product is beautiful.
