We went with the Hawaiian buffet and it was incredible. Their service was spot-on, very professional and friendly. When we met with Matt for our tasting he asked a lot of questions about our preferences, made suggestions based on what we told him, and created a custom menu that was perfect. Matt was great to work with and I would absolutely recommend Feast on This to anyone looking to cater an event. On a side note, I normally do not like coleslaw. But when i tried their coleslaw, I went back for seconds and then thirds. During the wedding, my best friend got one of my nieces to bring him more coleslaw, finished it, and then went and loaded up a plate full of the stuff. Now, this isn't to say that the coleslaw was the only good thing they served, FAR from it. But they succeeded in just about every area imaginable. These guys are absolutely amazing. My BF and I wanted to have a large dinner party without spending the whole time in the kitchen or cleaning up, and we wanted it to be a little swanky and an excuse for dressing up. Matthew was the bomb - I sent off an intro email (I hate talking to people on the phone) to Feast on This around 11 pm one night and got a reply back from Matthew in about 20 minutes, I was amazed. He was great at dealing with everything over email - I had no idea Matthew is deaf, either. He lucked out with a customer who hates talking. This was our menu: Appetizers: * Brie en Croute - Mediterranean - this was TO DIE FOR, it was so good! A wheel of French brie wrapped in puff pastry and served with sliced baguettes. Poached Red Wine Pears, caramelized brown sugar, hint of dark chocolate bark & toasted walnuts stuffed then baked to perfection. * Mini Crab Cakes 2oz crab cake with mango relish (served warm) * Thai BBQ Chicken Bouche stuffed in puff pastry and garnished with red bell pepper confetti and fresh micro orach magenta (striking fuchsia colored leaves and absolutely gorgeous and tasty, the mild flavor is reminiscent to spinach) Dinner Buffet - very nicely arranged and prepared: * Buffalo Mozzarella Salad with baby buffalo mozzarella, ripe avocado cubes, roma tomato, bell peppers, crushed kalamata olives, diced cucumber, sliced red onion, and tossed in extra-virgin olive oil, grey salt, cracked black pepper and fresh dill on bed of arugula * Filet Tenderloin Medallions served with wild mushroom port demi-glaze * Grilled Salmon Filet with Lime Beurre Blanc, Mango Relish * Vegetable Napoleon Tower grilled portobello mushroom, roasted red bell pepper, yellow squash, zucchini, eggplant, and drizzled with herb balsamic vinaigrette sauce * Asparagus Bundles roasted/grilled with touch of lemon infused olive oil and sea salt * Portabella mushrooms stuffed with julienne of tri-color bell peppers, kalamata olives, topped with crumbled blue cheese, fresh chopped basil and tomato coulis * Greek Risotto - MY OTHER FAVORITE Arborio rice with mushrooms, roasted asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes with touch of Parmesan cheese * Fingerling Potatoes roasted and seasoned with touch of fresh herbs and garlic * Chocolate Truffles (Gluten Free) from our local bakery, made from scratch! Yummyious Chocolates with fresh berries... Everything was delicious - we didn't even need the chocolate truffles, everyone was so stuffed from the food. Easily comparable to a 4-star restaurant (or 5-star, forget which is the highest) and for probably 1/2 the price or less, plus everybody could drink to their heart's content and not have to drive anywhere - I think our 16 guests went through 14 bottles of wine, plus whiskey, vodka, scotch, etc. A great time was had by all and we couldn't have done it without Matthew's and Jason's help. Feast on This just catered our daughter's wedding last weekend at Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad, CA and I can't say enough about how happy we were with everything. Their food was excellent and beautifully presented. We've already received so many compliments about the food from our guests. Ricardo, the chef, is a perfectionist when it comes to taste and presentation as well as being very accommodating to our many requests for an almost all organic, farm fresh menu. Hands down the quality of his dinners would easily compete with some of San Diego's finest restaurants. Melissa and Matt worked diligently with us from the start, they were professional in every way, always responding promptly to my emails and questions. They made every effort to provide us with what we were wanting while keeping it affordable for us without ever blinking an eye. We had interviewed and did tastings with 6 different caterers which was exhausting. In the end we wish we would have met with them first and saved ourselves a lot of time.
