My husband and I absolutely LOVE this place! After losing our precious cockatiel, we got another bird from a different breeder who unfortunately hadn't been well cared for. We were really nervous about getting another bird after that experience, but decided to give Feathers and Friends a try. We asked the owner what bird he thought would be the best companion for us since we had been so close to our original bird. He introduced us to a white-winged parakeet, let us hold her, and explained that she was hand-raised. We even paid extra to find out her gender. He was very knowledgeable and really kind! Penny has now been with us for full year now, and she completely runs our house , in the best way possible! She is truly the best bird ever. We'll only be buying from Feathers and Friends from now on! read more

Was hoping to do business with these people but when I gave the phone to my husband the owner didn't speak English or so he said and passed the phone to a lady who was so rude ! Like the way they talk to people who want to bring business with them is unbelievable I wouldn't talk to anyone they way they do especially if they are bringing business to them. First off there really is not a whole lot of parking, when I went into the establishment there were to many birds to a cage, items for sale on the shelves are not orderly. The place was not well kept, dingy and dirty, the picture displayed on this site is not what store looks like, the owner or worker did greet me or even say good day nothing just stared. Buyer beware- the owner of this shop does NOT test his birds for Psittacine beak and feather disease (PBFD). For those unaware, PBFD is a highly contagious and extremely lethal virus which causes beak and feather deformities and eventually death. The disease is preventable through blood test screening. I was sold an infected lovebird for $140 who spread the disease to my healthy lovebird and am now left with heartbreak. I did my best to keep the infected bird alive and comfortable, but the disease overcame him a few months after purchase. I confronted the owner about it and he claimed he buys the birds from a breeder and tests the birds. He then tried to sell me another bird at a discount. I spent hundreds of dollars and countless tears on this helpless little creature. This shop owner is GREEDY and frankly disgusting. He clearly does not care for the health and wealth being of his animals. He can expect a follow up by the health department. read more

Hello I am one customer that came to this place for a parrot which it's called a red head green Amazon.Not only did they over charge me but they sold me a old bird which they said it was only 2 years old. The bird is probably past the double digit mark.He is very mean at the start because the owners do not tame them first hand.If you get any type of parrot do your research and don't rush it no matter what.Don't come here for advise the people are nice but there only out here for one thing and that is the money please take your money somewhere elsewhere! read more

Such a great place with super helpful staff. I had called twice earlier in the day and got so much information over the phone. (How many baby cockatiels they had left, what mutations they carry, how old they are, and how much they cost, whether or not they accept debit cards...) and later that afternoon I bought a baby pearl cockatiel. I wasn't able to catch the man's name but I'm sure he is the owner... but anyway-- He gave me step by step information about the weaning process and provided me with all the supplies I need for my new family member. This should be your one stop shop for all your bird needs I've been doing busy with this guy for over three years now. I now only buy all my birds, food and toys here. No where else. Great Prices Good Looking Birds Healthy Looking Birds The guy here really knows his stuff and isn't those type of people that won't show you n share his knowledge I had my red rump parrots get aggressive on their chick n needed to pull them out the nest. This guy helped me care for the chick n thought me how to properly feed them. Even when I had an emergency after store hours I called him n he was more then willing to help me out. Please read this before you consider buying ANYTHING from this store. I would give them a -5 star rating if I could. Hell, I would have them shut down. There are tears streaming down my face as I type this and I can't even begin to explain the pain I'm in because of this place. I really, really, wanted to like this place. I was eager to own my first bird, but every bird shop in LA was a horrific disappointment (closed earlier than what their store hours indicated, owners were rude, etc). The owner seemed nice and was informative, but I think in the end, he only wanted to make a sale and sold me a sick baby parrotlet. Now, that parrotlet was my first bird ever. I had done months of research on the care for these teeny babies and bought everything brand new and only bought feed that was healthy for him. Yet, on the day I was going to take him to the vet for a check up to make sure he was healthy, I found him at the bottom of his cage, dead. I took him to the vet to get an autopsy and see where I went wrong, but they informed me that he died of liver disease that they can get from living in a dirty, unsanitary environment. That didn't make sense to me until I explained that he was in an small, overcrowded carrier cage that was extremely dirty from droppings, feathers, and seeds and the vet told me, "Well, there's your answer." To make things worse, he wouldn't allow any refunds because my parrotlet died after 72 hours of purchase. 72 hours is NOT long enough to notice when there is an illness in a bird. Birds have retained their primal instinct to hide illnesses to protect themselves from being targeted by predators. The normal amount of time I'm told by other bird store owners is 7 days. This guy sold me a dying baby parrotlet and scammed me out of $125 because he couldn't keep these babies in a proper freaking cage and keep it clean. He sells himself as a person who cares about these birds, but seeing the way they are left in overcrowded cages with crap everywhere, I think he only cares about the money. Thankfully there are laws protecting both customers and animals against what had just happened to myself and my poor parrotlet, so not only are they going to be hearing from my lawyer, they're going to deal with the Humane Society of LA and the SPCA. Do yourselves a favor, everyone. Save yourself the heart ache and grief, and please buy or adopt your feather babies from places that are well maintained. read more

I had a hard time contacting this store. They answered a text message though although they never answered their phone. I am hoping to get a Sun Conure there but they said that I need to call back in a few weeks. I changed this review to OK since I have to call them back instead of the other way around. I am also in contact with other stores who said they will call me back. Feathers N Friends said they will try to contact me (not sure what that means). Nothing beats good customer service and its getting hard to find. I have a feeling that I will be revisiting this review with bad news. read more

Bought a cute dog crate,he even built it for me. Birds looked beautiful and lots of variety.

The animals look sickly and are put in horribly cramped cages. I came in the other day to buy bunny food and I noticed how the animals look miserable. This place should honestly be shut down. I think the rabbits, Guinea pigs, and hamsters were put out back or were sent somewhere else because they were all put together in a really cramped cage. They had patches of missing hair or seemed to have eye problems. read more
