We've gone to other places in the past for wing clipping and nail trims, but the difference here is obvious the moment you walk in. Everyone is so kind, patient, and gentle with our birds, and you can tell they truly care about the animals they work with. They're always happy to answer questions and share advice without ever making us feel rushed. One of our favorite parts of visiting is spending time in the store and interacting with their birds. Every bird there looks healthy, happy, and well-socialized, which says a lot about the level of care they receive. It's clear this isn't just a business to them. They clearly love what they do. Wow! Wow! Wow! My experience at the perfect parrot was absolutely mind blowing. My partner and I have been searching for a pet bird for a while now. We did TONS of research on all the different species of birds but wanted to meet different birds in person to find our "perfect parrot". I visited at least 20 different stores in Los Angeles (birds plus, feathers n friends, juniors pet zone, jacks pet shop, pet care, the santee alley, to name a few). All of these stores were a disappointment (except for Birds plus, Loyd at Birds plus was actually nice to us but not quiet what we were looking for). Most of these stores had their birds in very dirty and SAD conditions. It didn't feel right supporting these stores and purchasing from them. I was feeling defeated after going to so many shops and not having great experiences. Finally we came to the perfect parrot and it was like day and night!! Completely different experience. From the moment we walked in Jennifer and Zoey greeted us and allowed us to browse around first. Jennifer truly went above and beyond with her customer service. We asked her if she could give us a tour of all their birds, and she introduced us to every single one of their birds. It was such an intimate and beautiful experience to meet all their amazing birds. She clearly loved and cared for each and every one of them. Jennifer, Zoey, and Allan clearly all have personal bonds with their birds. After spending over an hour in the store, we fell in love with the Meyers Parrot. Now, I will say, out of all the stores I went to, The Perfect Parrot had the highest price tags. HOWEVER, their birds are DNA tested for gender as well has health tested and guaranteed to be disease free! All their birds are ethically bred and are guaranteed to live long and healthy lives! They invest so much time in the quality and care of these birds. So I was happy to pay the higher price tag to support a business who prioritizes the birds health and quality of life. If you want a "perfect parrot," this is honestly the place to go. I have four cockatiels, one from Perfect Parrot, one from Birds Plus, and two rescues and the one from Perfect Parrot is by far the most physically perfect. His feathers are beautiful, he's healthy, and his vocalizations are amazing. That said, he wasn't as tame compared to my other birds, so I do think they focus more on breeding and quality rather than one-on-one socialization. They also carry really good bird food that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. It's one of the only seed mixes my birds actually get excited to eat, which says a lot. I also love that their grooms are free. Also, I will say, I did have a stressful experience in the past with a former employee (TJ) when I needed emergency boarding it almost resulted in my bird not being properly taken care of, which was concerning. However, it seems like he is no longer there, and overall my experience with the shop outside of that has been positive. Overall, if you're looking for a healthy, beautiful bird and don't mind putting in some bonding time, I'd recommend them. read more

I am an experienced and devoted mom to seven cockatiels, who are the lights of my life, and I do everything I can to provide a healthy and enriched life for them. I looked for a shop I could trust to do nail and beak trims, and genetic testing, and The Perfect Parrot has been absolutely amazing. Then, I ended up purchasing a female cockatiel from them to be a mate to one of my boys, and she has been one of the best birds I've ever interacted with. The store is clean and well-stocked, with everything you could ever need for your bird. They have a large selection of birds to purchase, as well. I got my first two birds from an unlicensed breeder in LA (a mistake I made because I was new), and while they have grown up and become deeply loved by me, the birds from the unlicensed breeder do have some health and appearance issues. No matter, I love them deeply. But the bird I bought from Perfect Parrot has grown up to be absolutely stunningly gorgeous, as she has grown up her plumage is so dense and soft and colorful. And she has the absolute SWEETEST personality, too! Cuddly and sweet and gentle. The owners know a lot about birds, and can give you good information. Though he's never thrilled to be away from home, I never worry about him in the hands of Kim and her staff, who are all caring and highly knowledgeable about their birds. I am a conscious consumer, with sound mind and clear conscience. I care where snd for what my money is spent because it is a reflection of my character and my actions (direct/indirect) contribute to the world. I refuse to support this local bird store. The owner is running an unethical business, birds are kept in tiny cages in packs - which is against California exotic pets safety regulations. When I confronted the owner about the handicapped bird, Cadillac, being treated like a criminal, instead of reasoning, she turned into a verbal attack mode. Human conscience is triggered when the person is doing wrong in exchange for material gains. I do not support human primitivism, where Kim's unhealthy need to control manifests in animal abuse. She is inadequate and her actions and aggression compromise well-being and safety of the living creatures she sells for a living. Her own bird, Cadillac, is a myna with a large heavy body and requires, by law, to live in a long cage where he can run. He needs constant excersize to help strengthen his muscles due to the deformity in his feet, instead, Kim kept him locked in a smaller than standard cage for the bird of his size, forcing him into a constant sitting position for over a year under a lock and a metal chain, like a criminal - cruel and unusual. There's no excuse that can justify the owner's behavior. Remember, it matters where you invest your money - stop financing primitivism and you'll see a kinder world. read more

This place is absolutely amazing, and I wish I would have found it sooner. As a bird mom of a rescue, I've struggled to find a groomer for my older African Grey, Buddy Bird. When I called in panicking because my boy was scratching, Stephanie was able to get me in for an appointment right away. Stephanie was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly kind and patient with Buddy Bird. She took the time to explain everything to me and made sure Buddy Bird felt comfortable throughout the grooming process. I was so impressed by her expertise and genuine care for the birds. What truly warmed my heart was seeing one of the other associates interacting with another bird. She had him perched on her hand, and she was being so affectionate and gentle with him. It was clear that she had a real passion for birds, and it made my heart grow to see how well she treated them and how much she cared for each bird. My husbands and I did a lot of online research before choosing a parrot shop. This place isn't too far from us, but there are closer shops..... That being said, I've been communicating with the owner for 9 months now and have been in the shop multiple times. My husband and I are getting a baby African Congo (Grey). I personally would not listen to any negative reviews posted about this establishment. Kim is an AMAZING woman!!!! She is so kind, caring and knowledgeable about every bird and everything in her shop, I feel at ease doing business with her. When I go out of town I will be boarding my baby with her. As far as what I can tell from the employees, they seem like bird lovers and I don't doubt that Kim hires the best people she can. No one has ever been rude to my husband and I. I've always felt like the customer service here is top notch! I've seen negative reviews about Ashlyn, but I honestly can't believe them. Today Ashlyn fed our baby and took him from us to be put away. She is a kind sweet girl and I really can't imagine her as anything else but that. We have been on a waiting list since August and 9 months later i still whole heartedly believe we made the best choice in going with The Perfect Parrot. I can not tell you, you have to come in or call and try for yourself, Kim is GREAT. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else in LA. My husband and I usually drive at least an hour or more to get there. Point being, we love this place and the people associated with this establishment. Go in and make your own decisions about this place. Spent thousands of dollars to save the bird who was a part of the family landed up costing over $20,000 Owner is a disaster. No accountability. No support. Lies. all birds intermixed in same cages. Bought all our bird babies here. Staff is so helpful and knowledgeable... they made it so easy to get everything set up. They answered all our questions. 20% off all purchases in the first 2 weeks of purchasing the bird. Had to bring him back weekly for weigh in (to make sure his weight loss plateaued). Gave us a chance to pick up some extra bowls, toys, millet, cleaner, etc. Yes, it's more expensive than Amazon but you get what you pay for and you get quality products that you know are SAFE for your little birds. After extensive research we decided to get a love bird. I previously went to canoga discount birds and was told they didn't have any baby lovebirds and that they had two adult ones that were very timid, they didn't make any effort to suggesting other birds or getting personal info to contact me when they do, so we left a little disappointed. Fast forward one week, we found Perfect Parrot. The moment we walked in we were welcomed and asked what we were looking for, to my surprise they had one baby love bird that was hand fed and ready to be homed. It took us awhile to make a decision but within that time the employee gave us other options to see, such as conures. They did have other baby love birds that needed one more week before they can be homed. My son fell in love with the blue love bird that wasn't just ready. Eventually another employee intervened and said we can purchase that specific one if we promised to come back to have it weighed in a week, which was no trouble at all, after all we just want the bird to be healthy. All three us were so happy, they gave us a lot of information and prepared us to be newly bird parents lol. Overall, the store was very welcoming and informative. They gave us so much attention and time for us to bond with the bird even when they were about to close. He was a little bit overpriced, I paid $200 but I understood why, they do make sure the bird has no disease and is given a DNA test so you can know the sex of the bird. You do get 20% of your 1st purchase which was helpful. And free grooming services, and one free package of food and some small toys. The only "negative" thing I can say is that I do wish their store to be little bit more open, when you walk in it can be overwhelming and not a lot of space to walk. I would definitely come back for our second pet when we are ready lol!!! They have many seriously stunning hand fed birds, which is the main reason it took me 3 months to finally choose just one. I wanted to take one of each. My partner and I are going to be first time bird owners. We drove all around LA looking for a friendly young cockatiel to adopt. The Perfect Parrot was one of the farther bird shops from us that we decided to check out (well worth the drive). There was plenty of parking and the shop was easy to find. The inside was clean and well organized and fully stocked. The variety of toys and treats is overwhelming as was the selection of adorable and friendly birds We got to the shop pretty early around opening time and noticed that the employees were setting up and doing the morning feedings for the baby birds. They were busy but still very welcoming and accomadating and offered to help us with what we were looking for They had a couple cages of young hand fed cockatiels which was surprising after all the let downs we had from the other shops. They were all so friendly and running up to the cage thinking we were gonna feed them, like little raptors The employees offered to let us hold the birds we wanted and see which one we fell in love with. I was not very familiar with handling birds as much as my partner was and was almost afraid to hold the little babies but the employees were so helpful and gave us tips and advice on how to approach and handle them. We took a couple out to see which one we got along with and settled on our little Piccolo. All the birds we interacted with were friendly and unafraid of human contact. That was an important quality we wanted in our first bird. Of all the bird shops we went to, the perfect parrot had the highest set price for a cockatiel, $200. WELL WORTH IT THOUGH if you consider the care that goes into rearing these fearless and friendly baby birds, availability of birds, the cleanliness of their facilities, and the helpfulness of their employees. ON TOP OF THAT, they give you a bag of food, some toys, 20% off the first purchase of supplies you get with picking up your birdie, and a lifetime of bird grooming, advice, and care for the birds you purchase there. I wouldn't buy a bird anywhere else after coming here. After purchasing Piccolo, the store welcomed us to visit him anytime until he was weaned and ready to come home with us. We visited him twice and noticed his growth in that short period of time! The employees were welcoming and remembered us and our 'tiel. The owner and employees have made this bird adopting process easy and stress free xD. Did I just describe some aristocratic-baron family that recently moved into a mansion in Malibu? Perhaps, but in this case I was talking about parrots. Yes, that's right: parrots. Parrots are not idiot "bird brains" and are in fact one of the top ten most intelligent animals in the world. That's more than we can stay for half of LA's population! If you are a parrot/bird owner or simply in the market for one, The Perfect Parrot is a safe bet that you will find what you need. Although a small space, The Perfect parrot is filled to the brim with bird feed, cages, toys, perches, bulk nuts/berries/dried fruits, etc. Whatever your bird may need, you can bet that The Perfect Parrot will be the perfect source. Granted, this isn't a PetsMart with an overly commercialized chain store selection; but who needs that anyway? The Perfect Parrot provides individual support and customer care, allowing for the "mom and pop" feel that we all love; but don't experience enough of. Stepping foot into The Perfect Parrot is like stepping into a zoo aviary. This isn't a "pet store" where you will simply find finches or cockatiels; The Perfect Parrot specializes in unique, exotic, and topical birds (they even had a Toucan and it wasn't a box of Froot Loops!). Prices are a little steeper than other places ($150 for a lovebird) so if you are only basing a decision on price, then this may not be the store for you. However, their prices reflect care that other stores won't provide. For example, that $150 lovebird has been tested for illnesses that the species is specifically prone to but other stores don't test for. Clearly, it worth to spend more on a tested, healthy bird than save a few bucks for an unhappy, possibly sick bird. Customer service was very knowledgeable and kind but I can see how some people may not have a good experience. If you walk in simply trying to be annoying and squawk at the birds, then of course you aren't going to get great service. The employees can tell if you are a true bird lover/owner or not. Instead, walk in with respect and knowledge, and you are golden. I was engaged in conversation by a couple of employees and the owner even suggested I be allowed to view the birds in the back of the store not on display. That's service! The Perfect Parrot is a wonderful neighborhood shop which transports you into a tropical bird paradise. And hey, you'll leave with a smart, handsome, loyal friend. I can't believe it's been a little over a month since I brought baby Priya (cockatiel) home. She has been quick to get used to her pet brother and sister, cat and dog and her new home. She is happy, healthy, and very chirpy for a female baby. Kim and her staff were incredible through out the process. I'm an overplanner and went to see Priya (she was in the weening off group) twice in one weekend before purchasing her even though I was unable to take her home since she was still weening off. Kim was kind and let me grab some birdies before making the definitive choice of who I was taking. Never once did I feel like I was too much of a hassle for them. They answered all my questions and helped me choose a bird cage (went a different route). I can't thank them enough. I'm sure there's a perfect parrot for everyone in the store. They handle each bird as if there own and they do a very quick and efficient job of grooming our Yellow Nape Amazonian bird every time we go in. It's better to do appointments then walk ins cause it makes things more organized and less crowded in the store. The perfect Parrot sales many different size carriers and many different types of birds that would be a potential Perfect fit in any house hold. Alongside many types of bird feed to include bird toys and bird related items. Give them a shot and you will be a customer for life. read more

I recently boarded my cockatoo here, and am SO happy with how calm and fluffy she came home. My bird did not like the last place I used to take her, and after a few visits started screaming in the car when we would go. She would always come home feather picked, and It would take months for all that fluff to grow back. So we came into this store right now, my 3 kids and wifey, all the birds are loose on their perches...there was no greeting from employee or owner...instead the young girl looked at my kids like danmit..well I didnt want to put to much attention as we all have our own trouble...as we kept looking my wife wanted to pet a little cockatiel but when the young unhelpful girl passed by on the phone ..she stopped and grabbed the bird and said never get the birds with it asking ...she got back on the phone nodding her head explaining to the person on the phone how this lady with all her kids had open a cage and she just kept going ....I was like are u kidding me ...how professional are you? You just blew a customer with $3000 dollars ready to buy are best friend ...African grey ...bit the attitude and professionalism of this place sucks and there fore I will go somewhere else ..
