Since my purchase I have been in and out of the store and had frequent phone calls for information and the staff has been very informative and patient, I had recently purchased a new enclosure for my snake, but thought that it was dull so I called reptile factory Downey and asked them if they could do a custom enclosure with my tank. I dropped my tank off on Tuesday and by Friday it was ready for pick up. I can't stress enough how proficient the work is and how satisfied I am. I especially want to point out the professionalism of Tanner and David. They both worked on my tank and gave me a beautiful result. I will be coming back in the future. read more

I've been coming to this reptile factory for about a year now. I don't like their new location in Downey only because parking kinda sucks and it's easy to drive past and miss. That's the only reason why I gave four stars instead of five. Their employees are very friendly and knowledgeable about different reptiles and they are always willing to help with any questions I have about my reptile care. Their selection of reptiles is exceptional, however the selection of accessories is a bit small. I come here mostly for my bio active tanks, if you don't have bioactive then maybe you won't be as happy with the selection. My daughter rescued a snake and we were scrambling to prepare to help the little guy. As soon as we picked him up we drove straight to the Repile Factory. Great place and affordable prices for your reptile favorites. Have a couple tarantulas, a python and a praying mantis. Staff is always friendly nice and very helpful! You can call over the phone or visit them and always treated as a valued customer. Most of all, I love their selection of inverts and that they can help you order them if they don't have it in their store. My husband decided to get our grandson (his only 3 1/2yrs old) a pet. Something small that wasn't too much maintenance and he can look at in his room. So we found the shop on of course Yelp seen it had good review and was close by. So we came here and looked around and the young guy came up to us and asked us if we needed any help my husband explained to him what he wanted to get, and the guy new what would be good for my grandson. BALL PYTHON BUYERS BEWARE!! I bought a beautiful baby queen bee yellow belly ball python from these guys, and when I got home, she almost immediately showed signs of a severe wobble. I've never encountered a wobble before, so watching her corkscrew for hours on end really broke my heart. I feel like I could have handled a regular wobble, but she never stops. I've had her for 5 months now--she hasn't grown out of it and it's only gotten worse. I reached out to The Reptile Factory and left multiple voicemails, asking for advice or clarification, but no one ever got back to me, which felt really inconsiderate... I dunno... if it were me and I were selling $300 snakes with potentially lethal wobbles, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing so without full disclosure, and these guys had to have noticed it--that or they are incredibly negligent. I don't know what's worse. (I posted 2 pictures; one is the picture The Reptile Factory advertised on their website, and the other was taken recently and shows that she's begun to corkscrew wobble even while feeding, which has caused a few instances regurgitation/impacted her ability to thrive). read more

Used to be a favorite place of mine but I will not be returning. I purchased a 10ct of isopods mix and was waiting for a more suitable terrarium to move them into and when I finally did, I came to realize that there was only 5 inside. There were some springtails inside but I did not pay for springtails. When I pay $25 and only receive half of my purchase, I was not happy and figured they would be able to provide them. I tried a few other small reptile shops in the periphery before settling on this one. Place is small but functional and very clean and tidy. Animals available seem to rotate, and their enclosures are very clean every time I've come in. Big menu of feeders on the wall behind the counter. Makes it easy to order (and estimate how much it'll be). Like many other patrons, I have different animals with different feeder requirements and it's nice to be able to pick them all up at one location. Feeders I've picked up include: crickets, mealworms, flightless fruit flies (hydei, idk if they carry melangoster), mice and rats, and I think they had quails or chicks. They also have larger feeders for larger snakes, like chickens and piglets I think. Employees so far have been very friendly and informative, and I never felt like a bother when asking questions (unlike some other shops). When I asked about certain species availability, they said to watch their IG account since they post updates on animals there. Covid-wise, they limit how many people can be in the store at a time especially since it's a small space. This is my go-to now for supplies and feeders, and will continue to be. read more

I was thoroughly disappointed in this spot :"( I saw so many great reviews that boasted diverse species and helpful employees, but when I arrived to get some essentials, I was shocked to see the poor condition things were in. The springtail colonies they sold for $10 each were varied in health. I was able to pick up one solid cup with lively springtails but another cup was mostly dead. There were cups on display with entirely dried out charcoal and no live springtails. There were few species to look at and the staff didn't seem to know much. A mature Goliath Bird Eater was on display but wasn't sexed? Unsure how a 6" T can have an undetermined sex. I drove from Long Beach and found myself wasting time and not having many needs met. :( The shop was very clean though, which is refreshing for reptile shops.
