So, I went to this agency because my license was expiring and it was the closest place I could find before my birthday. I showed up to my appointment with my passport, my license, and my vehicle registration. The board showed a long wait, even for appointment times, but it turned out not to actually take that long and I was in only a couple of minutes after my appointment time. I strode confidently up to the numbered counter when my name was called, and was greeted with a smile by a friendly person at the counter. I told her I was there for my 'enhanced license'. I handed her my passport and my old license. She says "... and proof of address?" so I hand her my registration. She takes a look at it and says "... and where's your address on this?" My face turned pale. I had habitually removed the address portion because I had vehicle prowls before and didn't want someone who prowled my vehicle in public to go to my house. I said, "I'm so sorry... I can come b..." but before I could finish that thought, she goes "Well, let's see if we can find it online." She spent the next 20 minutes hunting public records. We went back and forth with friendly banter, she talked to her coworker, and eventually found some esoteric document related to my home, and printed it out, and said something like "welp, it'll either work, or it won't." She was nice to me the whole time. It was completely my fault. She could have told me to pound sand and come back better prepared. She did not. She gave me some light ribbing but I never once felt unwelcome, and in truth I felt like I had just accidentally picked up a winning lottery ticket. My winnings? Faith in humanity, restored. I never found out her name. But she did tell me her birthday was close to mine. In the spirit of the day, I'd like to think her name was Julie. Happy Birthday, Julie. Or whoever you are. read more

I had to pay a visit to the licensing service to obtain the enhanced ID (aka Real ID) for domestic traveling. I strongly recommend everyone to make an appointment way ahead of time because it will save you so much time! My appointment was at 3:30pm. Arrived at 3:15pm for a ticket. What I noticed was that, people who came after me but had an appointment prior mine still get the priority. My number was called at 3:28pm and got my visit wrapped by 3:35pm. A week prior, I tried to walk in hoping to get an appointment. But the staff told me it will take me at least an hour to 1.5 hours wait. So I ended up leaving and stuck with my originally scheduled appointment. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at the driver's licensing office today. I was standing next in line waiting to obtain a disabled parking placard following a recent craniotomy. While I was waiting, a couple walked into the office. They did not get in line. Instead, the employee with the long brown hair saw them as they entered, asked them from the doorway what they needed, and they replied that they needed a new license plate. The employee then told them they would be helped right away. She looked directly at me--the person who had been waiting in line--and told me that I needed to wait. Another employee beside her pointed out that I had been in line first, but she again stated that the couple would be helped before me. I was shocked and confused. When the next counter became available, the employee who had spoken up looked at me and told me to go to that counter. I left wondering why the established line was ignored in this situation. Why was a couple who had just walked in offered immediate service before someone who had already been waiting? As a minority, this experience left me questioning whether I was treated differently. If there was a policy that justified this, I would appreciate an explanation. If not, I hope management reviews this incident so no one else has to leave feeling the way I did. read more

Twice they wouldn't honor transferring clean titles I had involving 2 cars on 2 separate occasions.When I went to a neighboring title location they were able to transfer the titles in a timely manner. There is a brain-dead atmosphere in the narrow office as customers with licensing issues shuffle very slowly in line. The clerks all seem to be 'trainees" with limited authority. The manager, aware that lines are long, hides in her office to avoid having to deal with problems. She should step up the the counter and help. Why? This is a private business which gets its significance from the State of Washington. They are the only game in town. They seem to use this fact to guide their business strategy. Clearly, it is an enterprise with little reward and a lot of irksome problems that come with waiting on the a public that is lazy, ill-informed and impatient. Like me. This company has no incentive to 'get better', preferring to hide behind the skirts of the Department of Licensing in Olympia. In a small way, I feel sorry for the people who work here-- The fact that they are designated 'trainee' suggests they have not been there very long (or that the manager/owner uses that title to avoid paying a higher wage. ) read more

The employees that are here are unbelievably rude. I was here Friday June 12th and every employee except the one yelling at an older gentleman was eating at their windows. I will never come to this location again. There is no people skills and why would you think its ok to yell at people especially an older gentleman (and no he wasn't deaf) the girl training yelled at him so bad he felt he had to defend himself and ask someone else for help. I usually don't leave a bad review in the moment but I have never had such an annoying experience. I have been waiting here, had a wait time, met the wait time (twice) twice after being told I would be helped soon, it then changed to giving me a new wait time. So my original 20 minute wait (that I fulfilled) then went to a 36 minute wait (which I again fulfilled) and is now a new 18 minute wait. The gal who checks you in is super friendly and helpful, so I appreciate that but the way they make wait times up is absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn't have waited, with my three kids had I known that I would actually be waiting for over an hour. This lady is by far the rudest person I have ever encountered, we made a simple rookie mistake by accidentally signing in the wrong spot, after she asked us to sign in 5 different places. We just wanted to verify and make sure that we were signing in the right spot. She snatched the paper back, literally huffed at us, and said "well it's too late you weren't supposed to sign there." And spoke to us like we were children. She was so rude and really unprofessional in a span of 10 whole minutes. Miss girl, if you hate this job, find something to do that you enjoy. You never know what people are going through and honestly, you work in customer service so id think you'd have some level of decency and treat people with kindness. First and foremost, this place is a lot cleaner and more put together than any other licensing office I've been to. It's update, bright, and not cluttered. I feel like a lot of these offices tend to be run down, dirty, and dingy. Not here! I went right upon open on a weekday, so I was in and out in probably five minutes which was awesome. When I got there, there was a really nice lady who helped direct me on what to do. My number got called quickly, and the process was lightning fast. 5 stars just to be on top. Believe this is their moved location which is adjacent from total wines. They have red and blue signs to direct you to where you should go buy it's easily missed. Regards to title, grab a number ticket and just wait, no need to be in the line. Regards to tabs/ non-title related, get in line where the blue wrap around is. Totally shocked by all the negative reviews I'm seeing here . . I've been coming here for over 10 years and I have never witnessed any rude behavior towards the customers. Took my son in last night. Debbie assisted us in transferring my car into my son's name. Forgot the title and it was 20 mine before closing. Debbie was sweet about it, very personable. Even though it was more work for her she explained our options and with a kind smile and fun chit chat got it done. So close to closing if this office was full of inefficient, rude people this was the time of day it would have been most evident. Arriving early for my online-scheduled appointment, I was met with an over 40-minute wait and no updates. When seeking clarity, an unsupervised trainee dismissively claimed I was late. Their refusal to honor my slot and demand to reschedule for the next day showed a complete lack of concern for patrons. I had to depart for another commitment, still unserved. This understaffed office not only has a malfunctioning appointment system but also seems to care very little about the people they're meant to serve. They lose your stuff, had the bank fax over title copies multiple times and they never received it. So better off you get it fax over to you. The lady in number 5, wearing black with blonde hair. That's the rude one. She had me fill out an odometer disclosure and while I was writing just grabbed and snatched the paper from me and stated "Oh, let me just do it." They are ran inefficiently. They have 2 lines out side, leaving customers to decipher which line to get in. There is 1 useless sign. They had 3 workers regulating the people already inside with numbers. It seems unnecessary if people have tags and a machine shows which number they are on. They use 3 workers to go in and out of the building to hand you a tag. Why not just put the tag machine outside? The people who ordered tags in one clearly labeled line. Why does it take 3 employees to monitor th lobby? 1 was training the 2nd employee the 3 person was a rude busybody supervisor. Busybody body was in everyone else's conversations. We used to renew license plates and I have had several defensive driving courses , because one of my mom's friend who worked there guided us thorough. As far as Auto License Agencies go, this is definitely my 1st choice on where to go. I find that the majority of the staff are customer service orientated and well trained. The people who seem to get mad don't have their paperwork/information put together and then expect the agents here to sort it out for them. I find that the lines seem to move fast - go 1st thing in the morning and there is NO line - can be in and out in under 5 minutes! read more

I'm not sure why there is so much hatred for the workers here. I've been here twice, once a year ago to change the title of my car and then again today to get tabs, and have never had a hard time. When I came for title, I took a number and had to wait 30 minutes or so. The woman at the window was pleasant enough and helped me figure out everything I needed to do. It helped that I looked up all the documents I needed online so I was prepared. Today, I had to get tabs. It was busy due to other end of the month procrastinators like me, but not too bad. I got in the Express Window line and waited maybe 5 minutes. The woman who helped me this time was very pleasant and was very efficient. In and out in 10 minutes. These people are human and have their bad days. If you are nice to them, they'll be nice back. And I'm sure at the end of the day or a weekend near the end of the month is super busy. Expect a wait. I've been here a total of 3 times in the past year and every time has been quick and painless. Fees are fees, its not like this office chooses what to charge, it's a state regulation so despite me not liking what I have to pay - I do it because there isn't room for negotiation. I like that this place is open Monday - Friday like any other place. It's convenient to be able to go online to check waiting times as well. There's a pretty spacious parking lot and lots of food options within walking distance if you know the wait is going to be too long. read more

What a nightmare. First i call them friday and they say well we need two clerks to do quick title and we have two scheduled but they may not show up. I should've known then. When you walk in theres no one to ask any questions and they yell at customers who walk up to the empty windows w questions. I go to this ghetto title office and wait for 90 minutes because the title I ordered in July never Arrived but was sent from Olympia end of July. First clerk doesn't know how to do a same day quick title. Second clerk yells at me shes not ready and go wait in the corner. Then calls me over and argues with me i don't need a quick title I need an affidavit if i want to donate the car. I am the goddamn customer and i am telling you i want the quick title because its a guarantee that all donators take it and NOT all charities take an affidavit. Then she tells me i have to pay tickets that are on my totaled car that is 13 years old to clear the registration and allow the title. I went to fife and im staring at my goddamn title right now while waiting for the tow truck. Paid $81 for only the title. Don't go here and let A bunch of ignorant college drop outs screw you over. read more

My dad was a business owner and he understood the importance of excellence in customer-service. We were taught to treat people with respect. I initially went to Federal Way Licensing Services to pick up two DP parking placards for a client a week or so prior, but their computers were down. So we decided to try again today. "Haran" (not sure of the spelling) was the woman assisting us. My client was allotted two placards based on her needs. I was confused when only ONE placard was issued. When I requested the second placard, she got defensive and told me to "call back in a couple of weeks" to see if they had more placards and that they were running low. Interesting suggestion given they did NOT have a live person when I called. My client has special needs and I am only with her for a set period of time on a few days a week. It is difficult to return at various intervals to see if they have placards yet. She brushed me aside with no resolution. "Haran" was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. I have no idea how I am going to get the second placard now that this business has all the paperwork. I plan to contact the BBB among other consumer advocates to pursue actions against this agency. read more

While in this shop I was treated more rudely than I have ever been treated. While trying to explain to the management that there had been an error on THEIR end, which I had documented PROOF of, the manager RUDELY interrupted me whenever I tried to speak to explain my case to her nearly 10 times. When I got to speak, I managed to get out 3 or 4 words before she CONTINUED to rudely cut into everything I said. Instead of attempting to plead my case, which I had documents from both the DOL as well as the company I worked with to ship my registration, the manager interrupted me so many times that I just decided to pay the fee I was told WOULD BE WAIVED by both the DOL and the company I had worked with who made the error in the first place. Total B*TCH!!!!! It was worth the 16 bucks I was going to have waved just to get out of that rude woman's face. DO NOT GO HERE. Go to a real DOL. read more

Possibly the worst experience I have ever had with any establishment ever!!! The lady who helped me with my title had absolutely no idea what she was doing and obviously hated her job. As a business owner I expect my customers to get the service we advertise for. This place is the complete opposite.
