Geek Squad is a subsidiary that provides services such as delivery, installation, and repairs for appliances, cameras, cell phones, computers, smart-home devices, televisions, video game systems, etcetera. Recently, I purchased a humidifier from Best Buy's website, because they had the lowest price as compared to other retailers and offered faster shipping. The website also participated in cash back through another website. The next day, the warehouse shipped my package. Two days later, UPS delivered the package to my home. The humidifier works very well, and I feel very happy with my purchase. As for Geek Squad, I have not used them for installation of products, although I wish that I had. I imagine that their employees know more than my husband and me about how to install new electronic devices. For an additional fee, Geek Squad also offers Protection Plans that enhance manufacturers' warranties.

Purchased a pull down TV mount for over the mantle and installation services for it. The mount arrived late (please stop using FedEx) and the package for the mount is covered with tape and stamps that say "Inspected by Best Buy" which tells me this item is used. I paid almost $400 for a new one. There are no items nearby that exactly match this for an exchange and they cannot ship me one to get here by tomorrow. I cannot delay the installation any longer. So, I said I'd keep the item if they refunded me $50 due to it being used. They refused. First agent said the max they could offer was $19. Literally four agents later and over an hour... I am told the max they can offer me is $37. It's about more than just the compensation. It's the inconvenience of the situation. It's the potential shady business practice trying to possibly slip one by a customer who's having someone else install it. It's the stress now of hoping all the pieces are there and that it functions as new. So, buyer beware! They will send you a used item even though you purchased it as new.

Alex in the PC zone treated my kiddo as an adult customer and talked through considerations and tradeoffs he should consider in building a PC; Noah in the scheeduling center walked him through the process and explained what he should expect and what he needs to consider as a responsible PC owner; Connor in the service department was clear with him on his responsibilities and what he may need to troubleshoot or watch out for as a PC owner. The lovely sales associate did escalate this problem to their manager and their online inventory was fixed. I very thankful for her help but it would have been nice if it was actually there. 2. There is no cart return outside. It's a pain to bring the cart all the way back in store with a child after loading the car, especially in the winter. 3. Many of the customers need to shower more than once a week, and should consider putting on deodorant. Many of them physically STANK. Basic hygiene is lacking for a handful of their customers. Maybe buy PC and get a free degree? Maybe a reward system would be nice to encourage healthy habits.

    The negatives of their service ended up overshadowing the positives…read more 1. My cat went missing. I told the owner right away that my cats were in the bathroom. He didn't tell the crewman, and one was let out and went missing. My friends and I spent 3 hours looking for my cat. It was very distressing for all of us. 2. They were not honest with the price they would charge. We communicated up-front that we had larger pieces, we gave them a list of the pieces, lived on the second floor, and the date was a holiday. Their website says $90 per hour, but they charged us $250 per hour. When they say they may adjust the price, make sure you know upfront. They never communicated to us an honest cost beforehand, that stairs would cost more, and that working on a holiday would cost more. We would have chosen another date, we were flexible. They said we just did the date you said you wanted and that's what we charged for working on a holiday, but they never told us beforehand. If that's what they want to charge, that's fine, but you need be up-front with it so that person has a choice to take their business elsewhere. They did do a good job with the moving aspect. They packed things well. They showed up and let us know they were running late. We were very polite to the movers, they never complained to us about the job, we did ask at the end why they charged us that much, but we weren't mean about it or anything like that. We bought them water. We just had standard furniture, like dressers, beds, and shelves. Our new home was about 5 miles away, so they didn't have to travel far. Nothing other movers had issues with in the past.

Worked together well and went above and beyond to make her move smooth. I needed to leave and they reassured me that they wouldn't leave until her new place felt like home. And that meant arranging and setting up her entire apartment. My aunt was beaming...what a way to start her new home adventure in such a positive way. Besides the move they took her broken and outdated appliances and graciously took her items no longer needed because of downsizing to goodwill. Wow, again...going above and beyond!
