Of course since this spot was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives - everyone in town wants to spot in to check it out, including myself. Today, my family and I came here for lunch and ordered the lamb sausage gyro and the Triple D special. Our wait was about 20 minutes, however since we are in 4th Ave food park we walked over to Opus Coffee for some coffee and refresher. It is a pretty nice day outside so we took our food and ate in the park. I must say the hype is real! The gyro was not like anything I've seen before. I was expecting the typical gyro. However, the plating was a huge piece of pita open face with all of the toppings and pieces of lamb sausage. The star of the show was the lamb sausage. It doesn't have a game taste to it and is very flavorful. In addition to that, I really enjoyed the curry chickpeas. They're coated all over in curry seasoning and pair well with the dill and buttermilk dressing. Everything was fresh, from the veggies to the sausage. One thing I really enjoyed about this lunch overall was the fact that as large as the portion was, you didn't feel heavy or sickly full. Also, the price for the food was very reasonable as well. I see why this is definitely a local favorite and a great find in Gainesville. I'm mad that I never ventured over to Fehrenbacher before as much as I frequent the food park, but I look forward to my next visit here!

After our neighbor who saw this on Diner's told us that he went and enjoyed and thoroughly recommended; we had to give this place a try. This is in UF's little "food park" area- an area where we've had burgers as well as Opus coffee. Very pleased that this place was here. Seating can be tricky but don't let that dissuade you from coming here- there's more seating in the back ! Menu had lots of tasty sounding fresh ingredient options to choose from . Hubby had a fresh smoked salmon platter & a local beer- I had a caprese wrap & water (DD lol). Both of our items were suuppperrrr fresh and loaded with the goodies -no skimping here. If you're in the area definitely worth the stop! We will return

Me and my friends have been meaning to try this place ever since we walked by it after a run. We saw this tik tok of people trying their hotdogs which just added fuel to the fire so of course we had to go the moment we were all free. The guy at the front was super nice and helpful when it came to giving us recommendations: we were stuck between the 3 little pigs and the intimidator and he warned us the latter was going to be spicy but yum so that's what we got. The back of the restaurant is so cute and has a nice outdoor patio area with a lot of picnic tables. It definitely gives a good spot for live music and chilling with friends over good food. I don't do super well with spicy foods but the hot dog was still good, and they cut it in half so my friend and I could share it! This was our pre-run club fuel and I broke my 2 mile PR so lowkey maybe these hotdogs have some kind of superpower...

I had to try this place after watching Guy Fieri's Diner Drive in and Dives on Food Network. Amazing they featured the Gainesville food scene. First the 4th Ave Food park is where Fehrenbacher's is located, went on a Friday afternoon for a late lunch. I had the Triple D special, Mediterranean salad with lamb sausage. The salad was fresh with pita and the sausage was freshly made, didn't have a lamb taste at all. The wait was not long and the staff were very friendly. I got my food to go and sat outside in the park enjoying the nice Florida sunshine and the amazing food. I have eyes on some other menu items so I will definitely return.

Fehrenbacher's menu. They do also have fresh meats you could buy.

Walked in to what we thought was a small cafe type restaurant. You walk in there are a few small barstools along the front window. We were greeted and asked our order. We had previously glanced at the menu but hadn't decided yet, he went with the Charcuterie board and I ordered the Reuben sandwich. We both got a canned drink and we both got a bag of chips. Our total was $44. They gave us a buzzer for when our food would be ready and told us they had seating in the back and fans as well. We walked o it the back door to an area that had covered patio with fans and a huge backyard fenced in with plenty of seating wi Ty trees as well. It was very nice day and the fans were great. We got buzzed and I went and got our food. My sandwich was stuffed pretty good it came on Rye bread homemade pickled cabbage which was pretty mild (I appreciated). They also served it with homemade pickles with capers. I had never had them but they were ok. His charcuterie board had homemade sausage, Brie, fresh mozzarella, feta cheese, grapes, homemade pickles with capers, lettuce pickled cabbage, olives, seasoned garbanzo beans, prosciutto, pita bread, green apple and a garlic mayo dollops. The Reuben was very flavorful and I would have again but I did miss the sharp tang of the sauerkraut, which he pickled cabbage didn't have that bite I was looking for He really enjoyed his board but we saw someone else get one and they might have gotten a bit more stuff not sure if they were friends or that they allow substitutions it was our first time. We would ask next time and I would visit again to try different menu items.

Great local spot with hardworking and friendly staff. Plenty of parking with a large parking lot, during lunch hour you may need to circle the block for street parking. There is a small counter with stool seating indoor but with this gorgeous Florida weather, there is great outdoor seating! Pet friendly (outdoor area). Excellent quality sandwiches, salads, charcuterie boards - (meat, vegetarian friendly options available). There wasn't a long wait, but a regular shared a tip to avoid the lunch rush, call ur order in ahead.

First time having this place and it did not disappoint. Love the sandwiches and the huge outdoor seating and also a chalk board to draw stuff and a cool van to sit in when you eat your sandwiches.

Great place for a late Sunday lunch! We split The Frank Stallone while sitting outside under shade trees. The sausage sandwich was excellent and we'll be back to try other combinations on the menu!

So I'd been hoping to try this place for some time but they close at six in the evening and previously had been closed on Sundays though they now are open on Sundays, so I'd not been around when they were open before. But today I was riding my bike on the Gainesville-Hawthorne Trail so I figured I would stop by and I'm so glad I did. The shop is small and was full of customers before the Gators game when I stopped in but the staff is super-quick at taking care of everyone. The shop decor is whimsical and cute but overall there's also this all-business sense about it which is fitting for a German sausage shop. I'd planned to get a sausage sandwich but changed my mind when I saw they had a house-smoked salmon platter and ordered that. Thus, I cannot speak to the quality of their famous sausages however I can indeed say this: their smoked salmon is easily some of the best I've ever had. It was served like a salad and had homemade potato salad and pickles with it which were just perfect and again, the smoked salmon itself was incredible. I will be back soon for some sausages: fact.

    Nasty sandwich.

Incredibly disgusting, and also unsanitary. The lunch menu portions are very small, and didn't fill me up (I weigh 130 pounds) No flavor, and very poorly put together. The photo I attached kind of says it all lol. They ask for tips on top of an incredibly high price, especially with how little food they give you (regarding lunch menu options) Very funky smell inside, and I left with my skin and eyes burning from God knows what. Avoid at all costs. The employees also seem to get very rude if you dont leave the infamous "ipad tip" in which the tip options start at 20% and only go up from there. Just a weird, nasty, gross place. Ruined my lunch.

I have been dying to test out Fehrenbacher's and I finally did yesterday. And, it was well worth it! I got the Frank Stallone. Absolutely great sandwich. The sausage was cooked perfectly. The casing gave off a nice snap every time I bit into it. And all the toppings perfectly matched with the sausage. Don't let the photo fool you either, the sandwich is BIG and I was barely able to finish it! Loved the place too! Between watching an employee grind meats, checking out their deli case, and their cool merchandise, I am in love with this spot! Can't wait to go back!

    Sausage sandwich

Overall might only deserve 4.5 stars, but the (spicy) sausage sandwich is awesome and justifies the 5 stars! Worth a detour just for that. Whatever variation you choose. The pulled pork grilled cheese was very good. Skip the cold smoked salmon sandwich.

No major issues with the store, not the cleanest, brightest or comfortable place to shop, but the prices are reasonable for a meat/seafood market and they have all of the fixins' needed for a Sunday dinner after church! This day, I visited the walk-up window as I was craving a crab tray with all of the works. The woman behind the counter is the same one that's always there. What I've learned is that initially, I'm always underwhelmed by the customer service lol. She'll talk on the phone the entire order BUT she will get that order! I appreciate that the few times I have completed an order with her, she does give me a big smile and salutations and it truly goes a long way so I won't say that the service is beyond poor at all. The woman taking my order informed me that there were no more crabs which was understandable because I visited 30min before closing. I decided on a full Garlic Shrimp tray and 2 pieces of corn, 2 potatoes and 1 sausage (Heads Up: they are NOT included in the trays!!) I waited about 15 min or less and my order was ready, not a terrible wait in my eyes for seafood. I loved the sauce (although I'm regretting all of that butter today) and loved the corn & potatoes which are pretty hard to mess up. (I will say that those TWO potatoes = two slices of a potato, which is essentially 1/4th of a full potato... they should work on that math because the portion was beyond disappointing.) Both the sausage and the shrimp all tasted like they had been under a burner for hours, as they were overcooked like crazy. The full tray comes with 10 Shrimp but it seems that they gave me a little extra which I appreciate, but I only ate about 4 of them because they were so chewy. :( There's an art to Shrimp and that goes out of the window if they're not fresh or simply being reheated. I truly wish there were more seafood options in the city or I wouldn't have felt so desperate to go here! I appreciate the store, the available options and the smiles, but I don't think I will be coming back for another tray.
