Great experience throughout! Staff was very attentive and friendly to talk to. The bites were very thoughtful and innovative. Even the non-alcoholic drink pairing was fairly well done! (my wife and I often find that places often treat non-alcoholic drink pairings as an afterthought) As with most fine dining places, there will be a few dishes that will not be up your alley due to taste preferences. Feld did well in this regard in that even the dishes that I didn't personally enjoy, I could still appreciate the depth of flavor and time that went into the prep and presentation. It was also a nice touch to be able to see the dishes being built in the island in front of you! The only drawback is the price point. Of the fine dining places we've been to in Chicago, this one is on the pricier side. That being said, would I do it again? For a special occasion, absolutely!

Feld is an important restaurant. Not just because the food is excellent (it is), but because Chef Jacob Potashnick and his team are trying to do something different -- to awaken diners to an experience that feels like a departure from everyday life. From the very first moment, it's clear this isn't your typical dinner out. You're welcomed with a table of beautiful, curious small plates -- It's not overwhelming, but it's a clear signal: you're about to go on a journey. That journey had many standouts. For me, everything with tomatoes was excellent-- the heirloom tomato with maple jus in particular. Both lamb courses (the lamb belly with celeriac and the 21-day dry-aged lamb with lemongrass) were beautifully executed and delicious. The albacore tuna with wasabi was another highlight -- pure, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The peach and poblano pairing showed how Feld can take simple seasonal produce and make it feel elevated and unexpected. What struck me most is how different Feld feels from a traditional fine dining experience. There's no bread, no pasta, no potatoes. Just dish after dish that celebrates fruits, vegetables, meats, and fish on their own terms. The dining room itself reinforces the departure from the everyday: tables along the sides, chefs plating in the center, staff moving like a ballet ensemble. On our night there were 12 diners and 8 staff, and it all felt seamless -- attentive, warm, and genuinely enthusiastic. Special kudos to Nathan, the restaurant director, who made the evening feel personal and welcoming. I also loved their low-ABV pairing. While my partner enjoyed a classic wine progression, I was treated to inventive beverages, each with its own personality. And just when we thought it was over, out came more desserts, and finally, an invitation outside to roast marshmallows by the fire pit -- a whimsical, communal ending to a meal already overflowing with creativity. Feld is not just a place to eat. It's an experience, a philosophy, and a celebration of food and seasonality. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely. For me, it was one of the best meals I've ever had, and one I'll remember for a long time.

Finally made it to Feld. Was definitely turned off initially by some of the reviews I read, so decided to give them some time to find their footing and perhaps make some adjustments. I'm really glad I did. I had an outstanding meal there last week and I'd definitely like to return in the spring to see whats new. Service - 5 stars. Staff was great. Took their time explaining everything and were very knowledgeable. I liked that everyone touched our table at some point. Nothing felt pretentious and every one was welcoming and fun. My only issue was that sometimes it was a little hard to hear. It's not a big space and if multiple people are talking at once I occasionally missed what the person was saying. Vibe - 5 stars. I loved the space and enjoyed watching them cook and plate everything. I was a little worried about sitting next to my companion for the entire evening because I have some minor neck issues and was worried about having to have my neck turned for 3 hours of conversation, but it wasn't terrible. Food - 5 stars. There were a lot of dishes and I think they only really missed in one of them. The dry aged beef tongue was just a little too chewy for me. I really really enjoy the grilled scallop, the beef tartare, the feldpege egg and all of the acorn squash that was on the menu. They ended the meal taking us out back, not to whack us, but to let us make s'mores with the chef. Speaking of, he couldn't have been nicer. Drinks - 5 stars. The sommelier made a suggestion of a pinot noir from Oregon that went well with a lot of what we ate. We chose not to do the pairings because usually that's too much booze for me. I like also when they brought out their interesting alcohols and asked us if we wanted to try anything. We didn't, but I liked the option. I have a lot of higher end places I want to try in Chicago still, but I will for sure make another visit to Feld.

Comforting corn tea was a delicious amuse-bouche, and then 10 small courses hit the table at once, in the style of Korean banchan. Each course was great and the meal was thrilling right out of the gates. I enjoyed all of the courses, but the standout for me, that I can't stop thinking about, was the baby corn tempura, in which a whole immature ear of corn is tempura fried and dotted with basil aioli. This is one of my top three favorite courses I've eaten all year. The courses I loved were too numerous to name, but some favorites savories were Agedashi Eggplant with Oregon Wasabi, Buckwheat Gavotte with a squash blossom, Gargouillou-an homage to French chef Michel Bras, in which every seasonal vegetable ripe at once in a garden is individually cooked to perfection and dressed before being presented together in a symphony of colors, flavors and textures, and 21-Day Dry Aged Lamb. The parade of desserts seemed perfectly calibrated to my palate, as I don't care for desserts that are overly sweet or bready. My favorites were peach sorbet in a chilled tomato mint broth, beef tallow ice cream with parmesan and malt, a silky dark chocolate mousse, and fresh seasonal fruit on ice. I enjoyed the pairings, with my favorite being the 2017 Pra Amarone della Valpolicella, which was a showstopper with the lamb. Nathan Ducker did a brilliant job of explaining each pairing. He was fascinating and lovely to interact with. I'm looking forward to continuing to watch his star rise. After dessert we enjoyed 1-ounce pours of Laurent Cazottes Walnut Liqueur, and Nocino. I like to add them to sparkling water as an unsweetened bitters soda, which the team was happy to oblige. Each course was served in beautiful bespoke vessels, hot courses were served on warmed plates, cold courses served in cold dishes. The spoons with the dessert courses were chilled. Feld exemplifies thoughtfulness and attention to detail. My recommendation is that you make a reservation before next year, because Michelin would be foolish not to award them a star, and when that happens, it will be much more difficult to secure a reservation.

This is the next Michelin star restaurant in Chicago. The service was top notch, the ambience super warm and food inventive. It felt almost like dinner theater. Love the emphasis on what's in season and the pairings of unexpected flavors. Unlike anything in the Chicago food scene currently. Go if you can score a reservation!

The room was elegant but not stuffy, the service charming and knowledgeable and the food was fantastic. Each dish was inventive, well-planned and very well executed. But more important than all of the above: the restaurant does its very best to give you an amazing experience - and they succeed quite well. Bravo Feld - Bravo!!

There are no words to describe the breathtaking experience me and my sons were provided. From the chivalry of the chef to the symphony of the flavors, no restaurant has competition. The attention to detail and understand of my ambidextrous challenges truly brought a tear to the eye. Definitely take this opportunity to meet the chef before he gets his stars because it will be impossible to get a reservation. utestående!!!

We have waited for Feld to open with great anticipation as we watched this unknown chef, (unknown to us anyway) @notyetachef, articulate the vision; find, demolish, and redesign the space; and then visit farmers and growers and restaurants in preparation. For about 2 years we knew we would be there in the first days. All four of us enjoyed the intentionality of everything, from the farm to table approach to the ceramics, glassware, and cutlery. I could focus on particular dishes, but if this restaurant stays true to their mission, those dishes will change regularly! Still, let me say, the early tomato broth starter, tasted like summer in a bowl; the tiara cabbage with hollandaise was a strong top runner for me, the two preparations of halibut and the two preparations of lamb complemented the strong focus on fresh produce wonderfully. And delightful little surprises throughout will bring us back to this new favorite restaurant again and again. The team at Feld were attentive, knowledgable about the dishes and the wine served during the wine pairing. We enjoyed the approachability of it all. We were engaged throughout. The space is gorgeous! Even the way it is designed focuses you on the food and the experience.

The team is lovely, knowledgeable, great service and enjoyed the farm to table concept too. Love their wine or nonalcoholic pairings, handmade unique ceramics, most of the dish was delicious and satisfying.

We chose to dine at Girl & the Goat in Chicago, a restaurant we had never visited before. The acclaimed restaurant by renowned chef Stephanie Izard truly lived up to its stellar reputation! One of the first things we appreciated was the convenience of the restaurant's valet parking, located right by the front patio. At $22 for up to four hours and $26 for four to eight hours, the rates were quite reasonable for the area. As soon as the three of us stepped inside Girl & the Goat (we had made a reservation for 6:30 pm on a Friday), we were warmly greeted by one of the two friendly hostesses, and were promptly led to a comfortable four-top table with a banquette and two chairs along the wall. We felt fortunate to have one of the better tables in the dining room, as some of the others were positioned very close together. The nearby two-top tables, in particular, were quite small and placed only a short distance from ours. The restaurant's rustic-industrial décor was dark but trendy and stylish, the lively and vibrant vibe was warm and welcoming. However, I have to mention that it was really loud in the dining room, as guests seemed to be enjoying themselves and talked loudly.  It was hard to hear our server and the staff who delivered and explained the dishes to us.  Our server, Yazmin, was extremely friendly and attentive.  It was very sweet of her to wish us a happy anniversary both in the beginning  and at the end of the meal.  She also checked in on us several times during the evening.  Now, on to the food and drinks. I started with a glass of the NA Sparkling Rosé ($17), which was light, crisp, and quite refreshing. My husband ordered a glass of Le Colture Prosecco ($18), while our daughter chose the Sun Kid ($18). She enjoyed her drink, although she felt the portion was a bit small, as the glass was filled with a lot of ice that took up much of the space. Since the restaurant offers small to medium plates which are shareable, Yazmin advised us to get 5 to 6 dishes for 3 people to share.  We decided to get 5 savory dishes and 3 desserts to share: Savory dishes: Chickpea Fritters ($20), goat yogurt, green chutney, sev spice crunch, pickled rhubarb. Pan Roasted Halibut ($37), miso-Marcona almond butter, spring onion blueberry nuoc cham. Roasted Pig Face ($28), sunny side egg, tamarind, cilantro, red wine-maple, potato stix. Goat Empanadas ($24), smoked tomato-corn salsa, roasted poblano crema queso fresco. Confit Goat Belly ($38), strawberry goat braise, smoked yogurt drizzle, pickled strawberries. Desserts: Vacation, Please! ($16), toasted coconut crunch, lemon passion fruit sorbet, rum-soaked pineapple cake. Berry Yummy Par-tea ($16), earl grey soaked sponge cake, yuzu curd, spiced blackberries. Chocolate Basil Brownie Bash ($16), olive oil semifreddo, chocolate fennel crunch, basil granita. The meal was just phenomenal!  All the savory dishes were cooked perfectly with bold flavors; the meats were tender and full of flavors.  There were dishes that we normally would not have ordered if we saw them on menus of other restaurants.  Here, we tried them and were delighted that we did!  Our consensus is that Roasted Pig Face is our most favorite! It is everything we love in a comfort dish -- crispy on the outside, meltingly tender inside, and packed with rich, balanced flavor.  We will definitely order this again!  The Confit Goat Belly is a close second, with buttery, fall-apart meat and just the right balance of richness, acidity, and crunch. For dessert, "Vacation, Please!" is the one that we will always come back for. The toasted coconut crunch adds texture, the lemon passion fruit sorbet brings a refreshing tang, and the rum-soaked pineapple cake ties it all together with just the right amount of sweetness.  The other two desserts that we ordered were also very good.  The staff even brought out a scoop of Chocolate Ice Cream on the house, with two lit candles to celebrate our anniversary - a thoughtful touch that made the evening even more memorable.  This dessert spread was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. I'd like to mention that the restaurant added a 4% surcharge to the bill, which the customer may request to have the surcharge remove if you choose.  We let them keep it. We spent about two hours at the restaurant. The savory dishes came out very quickly, the pace probably was even a tad too fast, but the desserts made up for it by taking a longer time.  We did not mind as we were still full, and had time to enjoy the ambiance more.  I would say it is a restaurant great for group gathering and celebratory functions, but not so much for intimate romantic date night.  All in all, it was a wonderful dinner, we look forward to returning again.

I was there the other week (I've been here at least five times before), and a busser--not our…read morewaiter--started clearing both of our plates before we were finished eating. We each only had a couple of bites left, but it definitely gave off an "okay, you're done now" vibe. Then he went to take the green beans (arguably the cult classic on the menu), and we still had more than half of them left. I had to stop him and say, "Yeah, we're not done with those. We paid for them. Can you put them in a to-go box instead?" For context, it was about 20 minutes before closing, but we ordered with plenty of time and were already eating with a "get in, eat, and get out" mindset. I've just never had someone at a restaurant start clearing plates while we were still actively eating--without asking, "Are you finished?" "Can I clear this?" or "Would you like a to-go box?" It was just... "You're done, these are leaving now." We were there for less than 45 minutes, left about 15 minutes before closing, and spent over $200 (not including the tip). With so many options in Chicago, I don't see myself coming back here.

Hands down, and I don't say this lightly - Boka is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. I don't think it's too wild to say it may certainly be my FAVORITE restaurant in the US of A. This past week was my second pilgrimage to Boka, and I was stoked as ever. We ordered some non-alcoholic drinks, a few appetizers, and our entrees (duck and black truffle chicken). We had a nice discussion with the waiter and shared our enthusiasm and excitement with him. We shared that this was our return to my safe culinary haven, and I was prepared to be dazzled again. And dazzled I was. The chicken was phenomenal. The flavors were amazing and so poignant, and the tenderness of chicken made you really question if you were eating chicken at all. Everything was so moist and tender, and each bite was a ballet of flavor in your mouth. The duck, although not the star of the show, was hearty and delicious as well. The parsnip puree added an earthiness complexion to each slice of duck. The kicker of the night was when our server brought us our bill at the end. He gifted us complimentary menus of what we ordered that night, paired with a generous "Welcome Back" and the date of our wonderful evening. That small, but mighty, gesture encapsulates Boka in a nutshell. Fine dining, excellent quality of food, topped with service that was personally catered to make our meal enjoyable. It's about the experience, and every aspect of our experience at Boka was met with extraordinary marks. I'm dreaming already of round 3 at Boka. When? I don't know. But I'll be ready to tango again.

We started with the bluefin tuna tart, which was light and refreshing. The topping was delicious, but I think dialing it back just a bit would let more of the tuna shine through. The dry aged beef tartare was one of my favorite dishes of the night. The crispy potato chips added a great crunch, and the cornichons brought just the right amount of acidity to balance everything out. Next came the Hokkaido scallops, and they were cooked perfectly. I also appreciated that the kitchen split all of our appetizers onto separate plates since we were sharing. It's a small detail, but it made the meal feel much more thoughtful. For our entrees, we ordered the black truffle chicken and the glazed beef short rib. I'm not sure how they prepared the chicken, but it was incredibly tender with some of the most flavorful skin I've had. Every bite was juicy and almost melted in your mouth. The short rib was just as impressive, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I've also done the tasting menu here before, and it was just as memorable. You definitely won't leave hungry. The restaurant has a great atmosphere too. It feels perfect for a date night without being so dim that you can barely see your food.

Vibes inside are excellent and drinks are (very) boozy with a variety of booths, tables, and bar seating available. Burger with Egg and Bacon (4.25/5): Look, this is a great burger. Bacon is melt in your mouth and the egg adds a bit of creamy richness on top of the fatty, salty beef and cheese combo. The bread bun is pillowy, but I wouldn't wait in a line for hours for this. Bone Marrow (10/5): Now I would wait in line for hours for this bone marrow dish that absolutely changed my life. This comes with 4 HUGE pieces of bone marrow that you spread over fluffy, perfectly toasted Texas toast and pair with a beef cheek marmalade that exactly rides the line between sweet and savory. If you come here without ordering this, you're missing out big time. Green Salad (4/5): Nice, fresh and I needed some fiber. Nothing mind blowing, but a good change of pace. Crispy Fries (4/5): Very lightly crispy fries (reminiscent of light well for the west coasters), but the sauces are where this shines. Garlic aioli and mornay sauce (think white gravy) were rich, thick, and excellent! Key Lime Pie (4.25/5): Whipped cream on this INCREDIBLE, wish you could just order a bowl of that. I think they serve it slightly warmer than fridge temp (cool not cold) and it just melts on the tongue with really strong vanilla flavor. Pie itself is also good; nice strong tartness with the buttery and salty crust. Mille-Feuille (4.5/5): Chocolate sauce has a nice depth of flavor with the shattering crisp of the pastry.
