I come here often. The service and food are outstanding. But what keeps me away is the music... awful!

Eating on the patio and having a crisp beer is peak summer activities! I love perch because the food/beers are always delicious and service is great. We got the division street wings off their special menu for the world cup. The chamoy sauce pairs really well with the slightly sweet chipotle ranch. The cole slaw was really tasty too. The seared ahi tuna salad was super good! I love the chunks of mango and the seared tuna had a nice smoky flavor. The kolsch "senior skip day" was super refreshing. I also like the kick, push hazy IPA. Local pro tip: take a walk in the neighborhood streets around dusk and you might see some fireflies! There's also a local house that has a chicken farm down wood/wolcott street and some sunflowers. read more

Cute and very chill esthetics! Veryyyyy quick service, honestly to the point of feeling a little rushed. Not sure if they have a rule of flipping tables quickly, but we had a show at 8pm, made our rezzie at 530p and if we would have let the server dictate our flow, we would have been out of there by 610p. Hisband orderer a nut brown, which came, but was orange in color and super hoppy. Not sure if we got the wrong beer or the sever put it in incorrectly...but he was able to swap that for an Old Fashioned and the beer was taken off our tab appropriately. Started off with the cornbread. Very good! I ordered the turkey burger with a side salad, also super flavorful. Husband had the half chicken with mashed potatoes. He loved it! Stopped in on a Saturday evening. The place is pretty large with lots of seating. In the middle of summer it was so cold in there that we were uncomfortable. The service was great. Our waitress was very attentive even though they were busy. Love that they have many beers to choose from, so I got a flight. My friend got the filet sliders and said they were slightly overcooked for her liking. I got the burger, ordered it medium and it was also a little overcooked. I do also wish the burger had any kind of sauce on it. Only had the ketchup that the fries came with. Overall, the meal was nothing special but we did enjoy it. read more

Had not been to the Perch in years, and it was a great day to stop by for apps and drinks - except that a storm made it impossible to sit on the patio! The outdoor seating is always packed during the summer. I wish they had some half off appetizers during Happy Hour as the prices were a bit steep ($16 for cheese/vegetable curds), and most of the deals were for beers. A friend and I went to the Perch to have a cocktail before dinner with our friends elsewhere. Our waiter was very attentive. We ordered Hugo spritzes and they were strong and delicious. We ordered cheese curds to share, which were yummy, however, at least 50% vegetables which was disappointing because they were not cheap! I especially loved the flavorful horseradish and crusty yet chewy bread. The fries were just okay for me- I felt they could have been crispier and arrived a bit lukewarm. The turkey burger may have been one of the all around best burgers I've ever had. The meat had a perfectly crispy char while still being incredibly tender and juicy. I absolutely loved the spicy Asian-inspired slaw, which was both fresh and spicy. The side coleslaw was also excellent. Tried them out during restaurant week. Had such a wonderful experience, we decided we'd 'spin the block' and made another reservation for 4 weeks later before we even left the 1st reservation. We went for brunch both times. Yum! Our server Tim was top tier so we asked to sit in his area again yesterday. He rocks btw. Gives honest opinions and didn't stear us wrong. I love an honest wait staff! Perfect place for girls lunch on a week day . Quick reservation availability. Street parking is a hit or miss thankfully at 1 pm on division it was easy but have that in mind. Walking in it was amazing high ceilings open space I really like all the light coming in . Great service with Maria I believe her name was super patient with us being so indecisive. For the table we order d the cheese curds which was delicious never had it with panko so gave it that light crunch was hoping for cheese then the vegetables but it was a nice touch . Food wise two of the people at our table enjoyed their chicken dip sandwhich chicken was fresh as they do rotisserie chicken in house which is great . At the table we had the Wrightwood salad which was perfect crunch the rotisserie chicken was also fresh in it . Huge portion perfect for the table or to take home . The Perch is a great gastropub in the wicker park neighborhood. Offering a wide variety of menu options they are also a brewery where they brew their own beer. It is a causal and trendy vibe offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The food was really delicious and if you can't get a table I do highly recommend sitting at the bar. I feel you get just as good of service. One standout for me was the lobster deviled eggs. I have never had deviled eggs this way and it was just absolutely delicious. Had some pretty good beers at this local brewery. It also has a bit of a food menu. The Perch is one of those fancy craft places with the crowds of screaming women. Crazy that people talk more about the food. With the hipster location you'll already know about the high prices on most things. For sure it was pretty busy. It's in the middle of a crowded ass area with tons of other bars and restaurants. There weren't as many here though. Maybe because they don't care as much about beer. They'll be getting overpriced cocktails and seltzers. It's about $8 for a pint. Kind of a lot but it's expected for a place like this. The best we had of these was The Woodpecker. A German Pilsner. This also has notes of floral and is spicy. It's about $7 for the French Fries. Pretty limited menu for vegetarians. Mostly meaty. There's burgers and fish but ironically there isn't perch. Great selection of locally made beers. It's also got a meaty good menu. This is located on Division close to the Blue Line station. read more

I came here with my family (2 adults - 1 child), on a Sunday around 1:30pm of a long weekend. It was the only place we didn't need a reservation, and could just walk in off the street. The vibe is that of an upscale restaurant but the food didn't meet that vibe. The service was good until we wanted to leave and it took a while to get the check and get the check processed. The food was okay, like most places on this strip it was like a chain with beyond average food, overly sweet, overly salty. We started with the monkey bread, it was far too sweet for my liking, it could have used a victory of salt in it instead it was overly cinnamony and sugary. They did have kid options and kid cups which was a welcomed surprise. For a meal I got a burger, definitely not fresh, and if it is something went awry. The fries were also just okay. The restaurant is spacious, bright and airy with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and an abundence of natural light. The seating is a combination of spacious booths and tables. Our server immediately welcomed us and when we told her it was our first time , she provided many suggestions. They had several beer options that they brew. My husband had the Cheap Seats a light lager and Calling All Skeletons- a mexican lager. I had the taster Squeky Alien sletzer, with a spciy syrup and the other with a fruity , berry syrup. We enjoyed all of our drink choices. For an appetizer we had the lobster deviled eggs. The eggs were topped with lobster and were very good. There is an option to add 1-2 to the portion ! Funny thing is I order from this place all the time but my first time eating in the actual restaurant. Delivery is wonderful but sitting down here was great. The vibe is beautiful on top of it being a distillery. Very cozy and a wonderful place to drink or eat. Definitely can pregame here or take a date. Customer service is really friendly and was very patient with us trying to figure out what to eat. Anything I didn't like, they took it away and didn't charge me for. I enjoyed their fillet mini burgers as well as their cornbread! Come back for the cornbread. And the deviled eggs are a must try. Stopped by for brunch. Their restaurant week menu looks like a STEAL. Good selection of mains with good apps and a beer included! Mini Kolsch was solid. I usually don't order (or even eat) deviled eggs, but with lobster on top, I'll give it a try. Also the workout routine has been getting crazy so I need to get my #macros up. Deviled eggs were pretty good. But the star of the show was the cornbread eggs Benedict. I appreciate the concept, so I might have to do this myself one day. Good spin on a classic, and pretty well made. My girlfriend ordered the pancakes and the cinnamon rolls too. Those were aight. Gorgeous spot in the wicker park area that seemed pretty popular. One of my absolute favorite go to spots for dinner or a great beer. I've been going to The Perch for years from a regular dinner to a beer dinner and even a private event for my bridesmaids, The Perch is a great space for any occasion! The inside is spacious and instagram worthy and the service is amazing! I love the team there and it makes visiting feel like you're seeing friends. The food is fantastic! Their prime rib is one of our favorites and we always get the croquettes! The calypso shrimp is also fantastic and the spaetzle mac n cheese. Updating review... Overall, the service here can be hit or miss - sometimes a little slow, even when it seems they have plenty of workers. Previously I marked my review as 1 star with a bad experience with staffing issues (one server that was also the only hostess and bartender for 17 tables) while the manager on duty (Sergio) was not helping and unprofessional. I still think he needs additional management training to include how to treat customers and how to be a team player in assisting the employees. After the bad experience, the new manager Victoria reached out (from my negative online reviews) and offered a free meal to make up for the horrible experience we had. We go here often, so making the negative review wasn't for a free meal, it was to warn others that if there is a staffing shortage, they may want to take their business elsewhere. After the bad incident, we went back on the following Saturday afternoon. There were plenty of workers. We did not ask for Victoria when we went in. We wanted to see what the experience would be like as regular customers. We were sat quickly, waiter was quick to bring water (although I am not sure why they do not provide ice with water). We ordered some appetizers and iced tea. (Iced tea was weak/watered down, so we asked for something else - this is our every experience, so now we know to skip the tea here unless they change how they make it). The manager Victoria came around (as she was to all tables to check in, she was helping to clear tables, etc.) several times. On one of Victoria's trips around, we introduced ourselves and let her know we were in the area, so we stopped in and the current experience was much better than the time before. We have been in several times. Most times the food and service are excellent. There is a decent drink selection during the week for happy hour. Also, looks like kids eat free during the week from 4-6. We don't have little ones, but still a good offering since most restaurants no longer offer this. Food that we love: skillet cornbread, croquettes, black bean chicken chili, ribs (ask for extra sauce) with mashed potatoes, and the chicken dip sandwich. I recommend asking for ice with your water and not ordering the iced tea as it is not good. Food wise - we haven't had anything that we don't like. TLDR: The Perch has redeemed themselves after a bad experience. We will be back. Hopefully with the new manger, Victoria, there will not be severe staffing shortages.
