Every time I come in the staff is friendly and courteous. I recently had a problem with my frames and they couldn't have been more accommodating and helpful. Dr. Simonis is fantastic! The first time I met her she greeted me with a friendly smile and handshake. She walked me through the process of the exam and made sure I had no questions when we were finished. I have been to other doctors that get you in and out in ten minutes but I came away from them with unanswered questions. Dr. Simonis took her time with the exam and was patient with me while I decided which little black letters were less fuzzy. I was referred to Simonis Optometry and I am sooooo grateful that I was because the ladies there are super sweet and truly amazing. It is my first time using contacts and like any other human .. the fact that I will be touching my eye balls every day was out of the question. I have a unique vision issue as I recently had cataract surgery. The issue is that one eye is near sighted while the repaired eye is 20/20. I've met with other optometrists but I just didn't feel comfortable with them helping me with this challenge. Dr. Simonis not only understood my situation but recommended a solution where one pair of glasses will handle all of my needs from driving to reading and from indoors to outdoors. They do everything here to accommodate you. The doctor takes her time to get her prescriptions accurate. I've had a couple friends who have tricky prescriptions say that she is the best in the area. As for myself, I had an easy prescription, but it has still be done wrong before at a different optometrist. I had my prescription filled elsewhere due to time constraints, but it came out perfect and the rates were better than what I paid to get lenses put in so next time I will go through here. I'm came in for a full eye exam and consultation yesterday. The office itself is a lovely gem right there in old town Upland, near the little gazebo at the roundabout. The staff greeted me immediately, checked me in and sprung into action as if I were the only patient in the office. The front lobby is immaculate and very welcoming. I could have spent the afternoon lounging on the leather sofa, sipping on tea (or a nice lil espresso - hint, hint! ;-) ) A nice soft-spoken young man named Rich greeted me and led me back into one of the many rooms along the stately corridor, where I underwent a series of eye measurements, photos, and visual tests on some ultra-modern machines of which I'll probably never be able to pronounce the names. One of the really cool tests was on a big yellow and white contraption with the name "Daytona" on it. Funnily enough, it's design reminded me of a race car. It is like playing a video game in some respect: you hold onto handles on either side and peek into this round silicone sleeve, then FLASH, big green light! Then you do it again, with the other eye. What the machine does is take a multi-layered scan of your eyeball: first the cornea, then all the way to your optic nerve. I wish I understood more about the technology, but it was the ultimate experience to see the tiny little portal through which I take in the world around me. After the tests, I was taken into an exam room with the crazy articulated arm with the lenses that tell the doctor how bad your eyesight is, no getting past that! That is why I was there, after all. Ready for my vision exam and consult with Dr. Simonis, she walked and greeted with a big smile and we went through a very thorough test of my visual landscape. I appreciated the doctor's exactitude and multi-tasking abilities as she meticulously got me through the various lens settings all while talking about a wide range of subjects, not just stale doctor stuff. One thing I noted was that her tone of voice was soothing and almost reassuring as we went through the various phases of the exam. I felt like I was there with a human, and not a super-intelligent robot. Those of you who have run the gamut of Optometrists and other persons in the medical field will get what I'm saying here. Bottom line, it was a five star experience. If you are due for a check up, I would check this place out. I'm hoping they'll have the espresso machine installed by my next exam! :-) read more

But when I lost my glasses while on travel and called the office for help, the staff member I spoke with was not only rude but said that Dr. Simonis would definitely not call me back. Definitely not. Unorganized and unprofessional. Came in to bring my 6 year old son for his scheduled appt. Yet when I called in a week prior to confirm nobody bothered to mention they would no longer accept my insurance and attempted to say I didn't call in. Unaware that they wanted to charge me cash for the appt. I asked if I could pay when I picked up the glasses they said I would have to put 80% down to be seen today. Doesn't help much since as I mentioned before I was not aware of the price they would charge. Purposely trying to scam or unorganized, time to find a new dr. Office who has it together and is a little more professional. read more
