He pulled in front of me on Farmers causing me to break hard. I held up my hand (no middle finger) then tried to move to the left lane. As I was changing lanes, he aggressively cut me off causing my dog, who is secured in the back seat, to hit the front passenger seat. She was terrified and shaking. When he changed to the right lane, I sped up to get away from him and he made an aggressive move into my lane, causing me to slam on my breaks and veer left to avoid being hit. This year we began having Felix's crew do bi-monthly yard maintenance (& tree trimming as needed). As always, their work has been excellent. We have especially been impressed with Alex and really enjoy working with him. This review isn't about the quality of the company's work it's about the conduct of someone representing it in our community. My daughter was walking with two younger children, her dog, and a friend who was with her baby and young child. Her dog briefly stepped onto a front lawn and laid down for only a few seconds. (She loves grass) She immediately said, "Do you need to go potty? Let's go," and was already walking away. The dog wasn't even urinating, and she has always been respectful about not allowing her dog to pee or poop on people's front lawns. Despite this the man named Alex (found out his name through neighbors who also reported poor character by this man) yelled at her to get her dog off the lawn because it would ruin the grass. There was no need to raise his voice or speak to her in such a hostile manner. The saddest part was the children witnessing it. One of them asked afterward, "Why was that man so mean? He could have been nicer." When a child recognizes that kindness would have been the better response, that says a lot. It wasn't just the message, it was the way it was delivered. I completely understand wanting to protect your property. A calm, respectful conversation would have accomplished the same thing. Instead, this interaction left several children uncomfortable and reflected poorly on the professionalism and character expected of someone representing a local business. read more

Our job was to trim a large overgrown oak that bordered three properties in a manufactured home park with lots of surrounding plants, bushes, and landscaping. Felix's crew did a great job of pruning the oak, as well as taking care not to damage the close-by awnings, and the hedges of bottle brushes and oleanders. I called Felix to give me a bid for removing some branches that dropped during a wind storm about a week ago at my house which I am now renting in Petaluma. Felix came and inspected the property and gave me a bid for the work, I accepted it. After 'finishing' the job, my tenants and the neighbor in the back both called me and complained, "Felix came, he was here for 20 minutes, then left, and he did not get the largest branch that broke and fell in the back yard?" I called, he came to meet me at the worksite. Felix pulled up in his truck, before he even got out of the truck he rolled down the window, and while I was talking to one of the tenants he yells, "Hey, get over here, come on, I'm in a hurry!" Felix then got out of his truck, approached me, and said, first thing, "Wait.....who am I dealing with here, a man.....or a 5-year old child!" Can you believe it. Several neighbors and my tenant were all standing right there are several witnesses to this encounter. We went into the back yard in the corner where the largest branch I needed removed (and had straddled the fence into the neighbors yard as well) was still dangling off the tree over the fence and into the neighbors garden. Felix continued to raise his voice and yelling at me, "My bid did not include that branch." And then went back to yelling and whining at me right in front of the tenant. If Felix would have told me, "there was some confusion, I did not include that branch, but now that I know you need that too I can do that as well for another $200 or additional amount. No, he did not, he said, "you are crazy, what, you want me to trim this whole other tree all around for that price I gave you, no." I tried to get him to focus, I said, "Felix, not the whole tree, that one branch." He was yelling at me so loud at this point one of the neighbors considered calling the police. Felix's 'business etiquette' is NON EXISTENT! His quote was the highest I got for this work and he did not show up when he said he would, he came early without informing me, I think he wanted to skate in and out before I got there? My tenant there said he was home when Felix arrived (well outside the scheduled appointment time) and that he was there for 20 minutes, picked 3 medium size branches and left. That is not the job I outlined to Felix or sent him photos of. I told Felix one branch had fallen, straddled my fence and was partly dangling into the neighbor's yard as well. I told him the scenario and sent photos, including the neighbors yard. Felix started this 'encounter' with "Hurry up, I'm in a hurry!" And I can tell you now with confidence that's the way Felix operates his business in general. My wife and I had Felix come to prune our two large 28 year old pines. Felix and his nephew Alex were most courteous and carefully listened as to how we wished our trees pruned and shaped. Felix had, quite literally, a green dot laser pointer to exactly target the branches we wished pruned. On the day, Felix himself came and, with his two helpers, they set about their task. They were swift, efficient and very thorough - and, to our neighbors' relief, they only used battery powered chainsaws as well as manual pole tree loppers. We cannot recommend them more highly !!! Disappointed. I originally found Felix's through a quick google search which returned 4.5 star reviews. I called, he answered, asked how I heard about him, and set an appointment to come out later that same day. Sounds great, right? Well, then I went to Yelp and quickly became concerned. But, I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt as I know Yelp reviews can sometimes be skewed and unfair. The result: He did not show during the time frame that he promised, he did not call to let us know he was running behind, when he did show...he drove away! We were getting multiple bids for landscaping our backyard and had multiple appointments set up (thanks to Yelp). While another company (who showed up right on time) arrived, my Husband unlocked the side gate to show them to the backyard. As he was doing so, he saw Felix pull up (about 4 hours past his original arrival window). He quickly rushed back to the front to try and greet him, but to his surprise, Felix was already halfway down the street. He just drove away when he saw we had someone else looking at the job. Now, I can understand not wanting to bid while another company is there. Totally fine. But, he never called or reached out ever again. We cut our losses and got about 6 other bids who all followed through beautifully. It's been 2 weeks since our search began and today, the work began! So happy! We recently hired Felix's to do a little landscaping makeover in our backyard. We have hard adobe soil in our backyard, and a sparsely planted row of dying rose bushes along a 30 ft. fence. We wanted the rose bushes gone, and the space to be planted with a fast growing hedge that would offer greenery all year round. We also needed irrigation. Felix came in and gave us a free quote for a drought tolerant and fire resistant hedge that's non toxic to dogs and cats (important to us since have dogs that used to try to eat the rose bushes!) After mulling it over for a week, I reached out to Felix to see when we would be able to get on his schedule. He replied that he could get the job done that week. The very next day, he and his crew pulled up with the large potted plants, unloaded them in our backyard, and said they'd be back at 8am the next morning to start the job. The next day they showed up on time, worked all day with pick axes to get into the adobe that's hard as a rock, and by the evening they were done with the job! We agreed on a day and time, but it was raining pretty hard, so after the appointment passed i figured they would reschedule. Nope, they showed up late, apologized and got right to work. One hour later, they pulled away from the house; tree gone and roof, gutters and patio all cleaned up. The crew were extremely pleasant and laughed and talked while they worked. All were experienced and had routines to ensure safety. Best part, they agreed to haul away a pile of branches that I accumulated on the side of my house from my own tree trimming over the years.
