First home, but not first time working with a landscaper. I can tell you that this is absolutely not the experience or company that you want to have. We sought out their help in finding privacy trees for our deck. They came back with options and an estimate. We agreed on their recommendation... and then everything fell apart. They called the day before install to say sorry we cannot find the trees you wanted (the trees that they recommended and provided a signed estimate for). Then they showed us a variety of too small trees and trees that were incompatible with the sun/shade composition of the area. Finally we found ones that they assured us would accomplish our original goals for privacy. Two weeks late they arrive with 3 foot tall trees that were brown and clearly insufficient for providing privacy. They assured us that these would grow fast and once planted would look better... and now here we are 4 months later with 5 dead 3 foot tall trees that we need to pay a new landscaper to dig up andreplace. What a nightmare... and truly a disappointment. Hopefully this is helpful to the next unsuspecting homeowner. read more

Is there such a thing as defective trees? In our case with Guizar Landscaping, there just might be... We really tried to work with Guizar Landscaping, we really tried. When we first took bids for adding some privacy trees to the side of our property, they were very professional and seemed to make it sound like they had many options for us. Forward to a few weeks later and it turns out they could not find any tall trees as promised and actually asked us for ideas on what we wanted to do. I mean isn't that why you hire landscapers, to figure out and source greenery? They ended up giving us (at a discount) trees that were about 3-4 feet high, promising that they would grow. A few months in and they are all dying (see the photos). We asked time and time again for advice or even a solution and got back vague or lukewarm responses. At this point, we have just given up reaching out and we would never again recommend these guys. It is a bummer since they did seem like they cared at one point, but time and time again they just let us down. We ended up taking some advice from other gardeners to see if we can resuscitate these sad trees, and hopefully bring them back to life. No thanks to Guizar. read more

Watch out for this company. This company stole money from a property I manage in Calistoga. They were under contract to perform work, they requested payment upfront which was provided to them and they NEVER did the work. If you have a similar issue I recommend that you go after their bond and recover as much as possible. Look up their license number, contact the state licensing board, and file a claim against their bond. read more

Guizar Landscaping had a large crew on the job for 5 days. Guizar did not provide portable toilets. We caught Guizar employees pooping in the neighbor's bushes so we told the homeowner. The police were called. SRPD case # 22-8624. The employees got really mad so they damaged the neighbor's car to the tune of $1300. The contractor Guizar is refusing to pay for the damage. I highly recommend Guizar landscaping! Our initial estimate went very well, Alex came and gave us a rundown of what to expect, listened to what we envisioned and gave us his feedback. When it was time to start the work, the crew showed up promptly and began working immediately. Crew was very friendly and knowledgeable. They dug up the front yard, fixed some issues with my drip irrigation I had previously, laid down base rock, and finished up with artificial turf and gravel! In the middle of their work, I had changed my mind on one aspect of the project but the crew was very accommodating. This set them back a couple of hours but they didn't mind at all, as long as we were happy with the results. Overall, they were very friendly and easy to work with. Yelp reviews definitely influenced choosing Guizar, but reality did not live up to reviews. Quote was for 3" over 600ft2 of decomposed granite to be laid down over 3" of base rock on an irregular shaped terrace. When the crew arrived, the foreman kept talking about 2" of each, and then called his supervisor, who called us and told us the job was actually 900ft2. Really? The quote was missed by 50%? The lack of communication was disappointing. Finally we agreed on the original quote, and I think we got almost 3" of each... but the kicker was the big hydraulic oil stain on the road from their trailer hitch that is still in front of my house six months later. read more

They tore out a huge rotten deck in one day. The day afterward they continued nonstop for 7-9 days and completed our patio in record time. I contacted this company to install artificial grass in my backyard. When it came to the date that they were supposed to start work they didn't show, and didn't call me. I had to search for someone to get in contact with for them to let me know that they chose a bigger job over me that day that I had put a deposit on. They told me if they didn't chose the other job over mine they would go bankrupt. I asked them for my deposit back and Alex showed up to my house on a Monday at 10am to give me cash when I paid the deposit on my credit card (this interaction was done on my ring camera because I was at work). Had these guys clean my gutters in November. I live in a townhome and they only did my home for $260. First big rain and the gutters from the second story were pouring out water out the sides. I was told they would send pictures of the cleaned gutters and still no pictures OR returned phone calls from the multiple ones I've made. My advice - find another company that will stand by their work. UPDATE - Apparently there was a mixup with email addresses and my phone number but both owners showed up at my door this morning with the pictures I'd been promised AND re visited the job itself. I had specifically wanted the pictures to show my attached neighbor how full his gutters were - without the pictures, I had no proof. After all of our recent rain, the redwood tree debris combined with his full gutters flowing into my empty ones have resulted in mine being full again - this was not Guizar's fault. Alex and his team were so professional. When Alex first came out, we were really impressed with his knowledge of turf and what types would be best for our pet. He used all organic pet infill and there hasn't been any odor from our Siberian Huskey using the turf as his bathroom. We wanted modern concrete squares and his team laid them out in such a beautiful pattern! The retaining wall is just perfect for having a small organic garden which Alex's team routed our drinking water safe hose beneath the turf to have a seamless drip system installed. Halfway through the job, we ran into some drainage issues and Alex recommended putting in a French drain system to ensure that we wouldn't have any drainage issues in the future. We were worried it would be a costly addition halfway through the project but the entire underground French drain system covering the whole yard only cost us $500. He was able to do same day service and took photos of all of the drains before and after. Amazing how clogged and dirty they were! They showed up on time and were reasonable with negotiating a good price. They sent me an electronic estimate for me to sign and showed up a few days later and did a great job.
