The craftsmanship was corrected, the cleanup concerns were taken seriously, and I appreciated their willingness to own the missteps and follow through quickly. Not every project goes perfectly, but how a company responds makes all the difference--and in this case, they really stepped up. His…read moreestimate was affordable and we felt assured when he came out to see the project as he commented on what was required according to code (apparently our dilapidated decks were not compliant and none of the other contractors we consulted with made mention of this). Bruce confirmed his availability for install beginning in late October at that time and we coordinated via email as that time approached. Bruce and his team do very great, thorough work. They were all very friendly and trustworthy. We are very pleased with our deck replacements and the dry rot pieces they both identified and replaced on our front support columns. Bruce also hung up our new address numbers for us at the conclusion of the project, which was a big help for us! We did not receive an invoice until the very end of the project (after 3 of 4 payments were made), but did receive one nonetheless. Despite this, we don't have any concern about Bruce and his team coming out to repair anything that should arise. Though, we don't expect that to happen based on the quality work they provided. Their focus is on their craft, not the administrative pieces of the business. I highly recommend Shaffer & Sons and will keep Bruce's contact information should we, our friends, or family members require any work completed in the future.

My project details included what we wanted done and photos of the deck (we were looking for deck refinishing). We set up an appointment time and I arranged to be home during the afternoon to meet him, but 5 minutes before the appointment time he called and said "Sorry, we don't provide refinishing services anymore". I'm giving them one star for responding to my Yelp project and one star for at least letting me know that they weren't going to come and saving me a lot of headaches later when they probably would have quoted the job but then not completed it. From all the reviews it sounds like if you can get them to your house for a simple fence, they may be good, but unfortunately more times than not they cancel or don't show up.

They came out to talk thru the project and discussed options but no hard sell (which I appreciate). They assign a project manager (Blake in my case) to coordinate and keep things on schedule. However, the heroes of the project were Michael + Jonathan who built our fence. The took out the prior fence and checked in with our 96 yr old neighbor that we share the fence with to make sure he approved. He did! The walked me thru the finished fence and even added a "puppy protector" mini fence to keep our dog contained. They were super respectful, kind and FAST. It looks great and with the great warranty, we couldn't be happier.

He quickly understood what we wanted and offered ideas over the course of the project. When not on site, he was available by phone at any time. Brian and Louie (spelling?) were with us for all 9 days of construction. I was very impressed by their craftmanship and willingness to work through the inevitable issues that come up. I sought out several estimates and chose to hire this company to work on my automatic swing gate that had been inoperable for several years. Gio estimate for my job was extremely reasonable. Accepting the invoice and scheduling the job was quick and painless When I called to ask questions Gio was the one I spoke to every time. He answered all my questions about the estimate. He was always kind, understanding and professional each time and I called quite a few times with questions. If he couldn't get my call the first time he would call right back, even without me leaving a message. Day 1 - Gio arrived at my property on time and after going over the job with me his crew got right to work. I appreciate that Gio wore a face mask at all times when discussing the job with me. He briefed his crew and left them to work. He'd be be back to go over their work. The crew knew exactly what they were doing and didn't waste any time getting started with pulling off the doors and removing the inoperable arms and old system. Everyone was very respectful of me and my property while they were here on the job. My swing Gate was working again in two days, as promised. All tools and materials were picked up and disposed of plus anything that was disturbed/moved in my yard was put back as they found it. At the end of day 2 (mid day) Gio came back to go over the job with me and show me the new system and how it works (again he wore a mask as did I).
