After tasting Fenceline Elderberry Cider locally here in Grand Junction, we found ourselves 30 miles from Mancos on a tour of the SW corner of the state and decided to run over to check it out. Even though the town was covered in a new snow, Dustin made the Cidery warm and inviting. He took us through a tour of all 10 ciders and gave us the history of Fenceline. We have tasted most every cider in the Grand Valley and none were as delicious as any of the Fenceline ciders. Dustin not only gave us a tour of the ciders but talked with us about the Mancos area and introduced us to the power house women who get together there every Monday night! Location - Charming. Selection - Solid and leaning towards the dryer end of the spectrum. Vibe - Friendly and relaxed. I was on a 5 day road trip through Colorado and decided to pop in to Fenceline Cider on a Tuesday. It was a sleepy evening, but the locals were engaging and Tapster Dustin kept us all entertained. Needless to say, I decided to reserve a room just down the road and happily stayed until close. If I'm ever in the area again, I look forward to revisiting. I imagine the nights with live music would be a great window into the southwestern Colorado lifestyle. read more

After a stop at the local playground we headed to Fenceline to check out the live music, on Fridays, cider and onsite food truck. The outside area was pretty packed but we found a seat on the tables in front of the food truck. I ordered the two pork taco special and the pastrami sandwich, pretty much a Ruben. For some reason they call all of their sandwiches tortas but I'm not sure why as the bread wasn't what you would expect on a torta. The kids got the grill cheese with nothing but cheese and enjoyed it. The pastrami sandwich was great and the tacos were nothing special. My wife picked us up a couple of ciders and they were enjoyable. I've had more ciders in this part of the country than I've ever had before, they seem to be common fare. The live music was enjoyable and the crowd seem entranced by the music. Fenceline is a solid spot for a cool drink and sandwich if you're in the area. read more

Great place in Mancos, Colorado... we were passing by on the way to Durango and found them to be highly recommended. We were not disappointed by the taproom on a river with a great outdoor area that welcomed dogs. Excellent enthusiastic service for a great selection of ciders. We did a flight of four and they were all great. The variety is wide... anything from hopped to sour. My favorite was the Farmhouse Cider made with wild yeast and aged in French oak, it was just a bit sour. Great cider if you enjoy sour beer. They also have a food truck that was serving some good looking burgers,etc. We picked up some chips and salsa, spicy and delicious. Definitely a go to spot. read more

We stopped here after a day of hiking. I was thrilled to learn it was the ciders we sampled at the Telluride farmers. The ciders are delicious and have unique flavors along with the traditional. The patio is right by a small river. Such a relaxing time on their patio. The music was good too. And service was friendly. Too bad my vacation is over tomorrow. read more

On my honeymoon, I wanted to seek out a new-to-me cidery in between the dozens (literally dozens) of brewery visits. Fenceline popped up on Yelp on our road trip in the middle of a small town called Mancos, so we decided it was time for a break from the drive. The cider garden is expansive, overlooks a petite river, and is pretty well shaded thanks to the large trees that cover the patio. We went up to the bar and spoke with Jordan, the very knowledgable bartender, who walked us through the ciders that were listed on the board outside. We couldn't decide on one, so we went for a flight of everything. They have eight on tap, plus cider slushies available. We grabbed a seat at the tall barrel table and went through the flight, trying out each one and saving our favorites for last. For us, that was a tie between the Pollinator and the Elderberry - both in the semi-sweet category, but there wasn't a single cider we didn't enjoy. One of the cider-makers came out and introduced himself which was an unexpected surprise - we love talking about fermentation with people. We ended up snagging a mixed four pack to take with us, and made sure to seek them out when we landed in Durango for our final stop of the road trip. Not sure if we'll make it back to Mancos, but luckily they have a cider finder on their website, and five bars and liquor stores have them available, so we'll be imbibing more shortly since the four pack disappeared very, very quickly. read more

So Sweet! Love this place! The outdoor seating overlooking the wooded stream is such a nice atmosphere. Several amazing ciders to choose from, my favorite is their elderberry. This is a great place to go after riding Phils world. They promote a lot of local talent as far as art and music, and provide great snacks that keep me going until dinner time back in Durango. You can tell this place is well thought out and is a labor of love for someone. read more

What a great place in Mancos. Incredible ambiance right on the river. The BEST apple cider you will ever get!

The food truck has excellent food. They've even got gluten free options and they taste delicious. We had The Ranch (cowboy caviar) and it was fresh and tasty. I also had The Roadrunner on GF bread and it was on point. Great flavor, great portion size. My kids shared the Tananger (fancy grilled cheese), which they kindly customized to remove all the fancy stuff and just make it a grilled cheese. The location is great, right on the river downtown. There was a band playing and they were enjoyable. I did not love the cider I chose - the Farmhouse cider. In retrospect, I should have had the taster they offered me when I was ordering. There was just an aftertaste (I think it is from the wild yeast) that I have a hard time describing. I would definitely come back here again and try one of their other ciders. read more

Fenceline remains a go-to place when visiting the area for a relaxing drink of cider with friendly bartenders and a wonderful setting on the Mancos River. We had the Elderberry Cider, an all-time favorite of ours. The flight is 4, 4 oz's for $10- a great way to try numerous options but still getting their money's worth. As someone who has been following the craft cider scene for a while now, I'm so happy that the area has come cider options, including Teal Cider in Dolores. The space itself is clean and intimate. The staff were lovely. Food trucks are a nice addition. My friend and I did a flight of pretty much every cider they had on tap. I didn't love everything, but I did enjoy a few ciders. And, I was appreciative that their guest tap was from Teal. After we enjoyed our ciders, one of the staff took us into the production room for a quick tour and cider intro. And, apparently, the owners do that for customers on the regular. I appreciate that openness to educate. I look forward to coming back when it's a bit warmer and can enjoy the patio. read more

Such a great place in the small historic town of Mancos, CO. Walking distance from the RV park we stayed at which was really nice. Fenceline makes 99% of their own hard cider and the bar's location is right next to the river that goes through the town. It's beautiful and so relaxing even with the hot temps we experienced. They have some nice music playing plus the beautiful nature you take in while sipping on a sampling, glass of cider or wine (which they don't make; but have of cider isn't your jam), they also have these two slushees; one being apple and non-alcoholic and one a red wine, and very popular!! Pretty much that is what I saw most ladies enjoying on the hot day. The place is absolutely awesome as you sit and enjoy listening to the river. We are more of wine people but did try the ciders. Our fav was the Elderberry and Honey Lemonade. The others had a beer after taste and since we don't like beer, just wasn't good to us. Also my husband said they had somewhat of a fizz which turned him off. However if you like hard cider then definitely this place is a must!! And if you don't, still come and enjoy wine or the slushee and ambiance. Got to meet one of the owners and he was super kind. Oh yes, they have a good truck each night and sometimes live music. As a person with Celiac Disease who cannot drink beer, I tend to drink a lot of cider. One thing that I have noticed is that it is really easy to create mediocre cider, but it takes true artisans to make award winning cider. Fenceline cider had me floored by its exceptional, clean, and unique flavors, smooth texture, and balanced profiles. I tried a flight and was astonished to find that each option had me impressed by the quality and taste. I couldn't decide which i liked better! They were all so good! These ciders are easy to drink and not too dry nor too sweet. They are perfectly made. And I'm not exaggerating when i say that this cider company is creating the BEST cider that I have ever had. Finally went to try out a cider, left after putting back three. So good! There were options to please your average undiscriminating Angry Orchard fan, like their "Seedling" traditional American off-dry, which was crisp and wonderful, and an even sweeter berry option that was one of the better "desserty" drinks of any sort I've had in a long time. But the more creative ciders are where the real money's at. Their take on a dry-hopped cider showed some thoughtful restraint - balanced and tasty. My favorite of the night was the "Root-n-Ratliff," which offered a lot of bolder, funkier apple flavor and had the complexity of good craft beer. They also had mead on tap, a fascinating cider-Riesling blend, and a selection of wines. Never got a flight, but it must certainly be a very engaging and entertaining experience. Friendly vibe, excellent service, nice interior ambiance, and some great open-mic performances when I visited - Kai and Andy were welcoming hosts. Enjoyed a rousing game of Set with mostly strangers. Would love to return with warmer weather for the outdoor seating by the river - very cool. Whatever it was, also ate some killer ribs from a friendly bbq vendor braving the cold by the outdoor patio. 10/10 experience. read more
