I tried a few of their wines which were very good, but settled on a glass of Girls Are Meaner, which was a light white wine with great flavors. We ended up getting three bottles of wine to take home with us. They are going to be perfect for having at Christmas time and also when we want to relax. Talking with the ladies there they said that they do events in the summer with music outside. It's definitely a place where you can come relax and have some great wine with some great people.

Both wines were perfect choices: big but balanced for the Cab Sav and slightly sweet for the Rose. So good. We took home a bottle of each - how could you not with their fabulous pricing? After tasting Fenceline Elderberry Cider locally here in Grand Junction, we found ourselves 30…read moremiles from Mancos on a tour of the SW corner of the state and decided to run over to check it out. Even though the town was covered in a new snow, Dustin made the Cidery warm and inviting. He took us through a tour of all 10 ciders and gave us the history of Fenceline. We have tasted most every cider in the Grand Valley and none were as delicious as any of the Fenceline ciders. Dustin not only gave us a tour of the ciders but talked with us about the Mancos area and introduced us to the power house women who get together there every Monday night! What a wonderful group of women and an incredible experience. Thank you Dustin. We are now looking to move a little closer so we can frequent your wonderful establishment!

We sat inside as the wind was quite strong that day. There were three in our party. Two of were looking to enjoy a tasting of red wines and one was interested in white wine. Brandon greeted us and spent some time getting to know our likes before we started trying wines. He also let us know about their pizzas, which sounded like it would be a good accompaniment to our activity. The specialty pizza for the day was marinara, cheese, pepperoni, salami and roasted green chile. We put in our order and continued our chat with Brandon. Between my husband and I, we tried their Malbec, Telluride Cab Sav, Merlot Signature, and the Dutton Family Reserve. My daughter, who prefers a white wine, tried their Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Chardonnay and Amber Wine. The pizza went well with everything. We ended up getting bottles of three of our favorites. We each did a flight of five from what was available. I had the "My Morning Coffee, a "semi-sweet" from the selections of meads. It really did not have any sweetness at all and was quite dry. I tried the Choke Cherry Wine, Feel Better Berry, Baco Noir and Cabernet. Choke Cherry was tart without sweet. Feel Better Berry was cloying. Baco Noir was dry as was the Cabernet, which had a slightly astringent undertone. The ambiance is much more casual than a typical winery tasting room. Flights are served in plastic cups written on in sharpie. We were regaled with stories of the tasting room cat bringing its various conquests back into the building for the owner to find. We each ordered a wine tasting, with five pours (1 oz each) from a wide selection of fruit wines and meads ($8 each), and then shared them in order to taste all ten! We enjoyed the wines, and especially the honey mead, and purchased an extra bottle (750 ml, $25) to take with us. Jim, the friendly proprietor, also gave us a taste of their wine slushees, and we ordered a plate of excellent, and fully loaded and reasonably priced, nachos. Yellow Car, and Cortez Colorado, is a convenient stop for tourists on route to Mesa Verde National Park, and even Arches which we had just visited. For any RVers out there, Yellow Car participates in the Harvest Hosts program, with reservation.
