Groupon brought me to FeNom, and I hope to come back later on. I called 15 minutes before my appt to let them know I was running a little late, and my stylist Alissa was understanding. When I arrived, I really had no clue what I wanted - stylist's nightmare, I'm sure. I had had long hair for so long, I couldn't picture myself with any other hairstyle. After clipping off the bleached ends of my mane, Alissa shampooed and conditioned while we chatted a bit about life. (Note, water did make its way down my neck and back during this experience) Alissa had suggested layers framing my face and the rest of my hair - my only concern was I wanted to maintain some length, which she reassured me I would. Snip snip away! 45 minutes and a styling blow dry later, my head was so much lighter. It was crazy. Well, according to friends, it's still long, but I feel the difference. And it feels so strong and healthy. After about 2 weeks, I'm finally used to the feel of the layers. The only note that I had was the location - if your GPS tells you to U-turn at the light, do not! You want to left turn and then turn left again, following the road back until you see a two-story strip mall. It's an awkward location, and in the evening, there is very little lighting around the building and the stairwells. Nonetheless, I'm pleased with my experience at FeNom, and with Alissa. It is ironic because I used this salon for a groupon haircut/blow which is a set price and you don't need to go in for a consultation. So, I decided to try it out for my highlights since I use a salon down the street which I also found on yelp that has much higher reviews than this one and has been in business for over 30 years. I wasn't unhappy with the place I use I just wanted to try someone new and read about Jessica the owner. I tried to make an earlier appointment 3:30 but they couldn't do it so I had a 4:00. Regardless I went in at 3:30 because I came from work and running errands around the area with traffic just isn't easy. I walk in at 3:35 and what do you know not one person in the salon getting their hair done. Perfect ! In a weird way so, I can actually start earlier and get out earlier .I sat down and told Jessica what I wanted plain and simple. I showed her a picture of my hair, and said just match that please. Full highlights with her are $175 higher than most places in the area for a hole in the wall salon, but she had good reviews. Next, she started going on a rampage about my hair I need this, and that, and this and that. I told her I had a baby and at 6 months lost hair around the frame of my face. She told me no it is because my hair is damaged and needs a treatment for that. REALLY??????? So, my gynecologist whom went to 15 years of college is wrong? But, Jessica knows more because she never had a baby. Strike 1. I talked her out of the doing . She then comes back with a price of $247 that for highlights/gloss mind you no blowout, no haircut, and no deep conditioning treatment. I never felt so uncomfortable you know those people that try to sell snow to an Eskimo? Well, they must be related to Jessica because she is greedy, and tries to sell you everything possible to the point it is almost obnoxious. I walked out of the salon and booked an appointment back with the girl I always use for 1/2 the price and the same amazing job ! Back for my quarterly haircut and Karen did a fabulous job as per usual. I have pretty long hair and I've been flirting with the idea of getting it cut super short... but baby steps lol. She really impressed me last time with exactly what I wanted, so I felt that I was in good hands. Told her what the rules were (be able to pick it up high even if it's short & that it complimented my face), showed her a couple pics that inspired the change... and voila! I came to this salon to fix some darkness on the top of my head. I simply asked for bold blonde highlights and showed a picture. Karen told me we can add highlights and a gloss I then asked how much she told me $78 and asked if I wanted to proceed. After it was done there was minimal highlights and while it was still wet I decided to dry it at home,,, I came then made another appointment came in again and explained how I was not lighter and wanted it bolder chunky and again it was not! Jessica the owner is vey rude and unprofessional she did not even see my hair or try to assist me she tried make her employee right and say I was wrong That's not how you treat a customer I asked for a refund and she refused don't go here they seem to think the customer is wrong and will not care about what you are looking for! read more

After Shelby gave me an amazing updo for a swim week event, I booked an appointment with her the following week for color & cut. She gave perfect advice in order to keep the integrity of my healthy hair, while still delivering the color I was looking for. A root touch up & clear gloss was followed by the best cut I've had since relocating from Palm Beach a year ago. I'm ecstatic with my results & that I've found my new home salon away from South Beach. The only thing that I didn't like (but all hair stylists do the same mistake) - rough brushing that pulls and breaks hair. I would love that someone would get a wide tooth comb and start from bottom that doesn't hurt and doesn't break hair!) I also noticed that second hair stylist had two clients at the same time - one for coloring and one for hair cut.. I do not like the idea of half attention at any point. Yes, I am a fan. I found this place through a Groupon deal and decided to give it a try based on the excellent reviews I read on Yelp. I called and made my appointment 2 weeks in advance and on the day of my appointment I was running late and called to see if they would be able to push my appointment back about 30 minutes to 2:30pm. The very nice receptionist Lauren told me that she did not have me down for this day but for the week after and that they were completely booked up for the entire day... I panicked. I absolutely needed to get my hair done that day as I was leaving out of town the next morning. Although it is a mystery on how my appointment date got switched, (definitely not by me as I purposely made the appointment for my out of town event which date was written in stone) Lauren understood my concern and tried her best to help look for a solution by calling other clients to see if they were willing to change their appointment times. I waited to hear back from her nervously for about an hour. I was frankly freaking out! :( Lauren called me back with good news, she explained that she contacted the owner of the salon and explained the issue and the owner instructed her to have me come in at 3:30pm. When I arrived, all the ladies that worked there greeted me warmly and apologized for this very unusual mishap. They offered me some champaign as I waited and I was advised that Alyssa would shampoo and deep condition my hair. Afterwards, Shelby who does not take Groupon's volunteered to cut my hair and start my blow dry to help make things right for me and she did. She then turned me back over to Alyssa to finish my blowout and style as she had another client waiting. Both Shelby and Alyssa did a great job with my hair! I was very pleased. I don't know why my hair likes to frizz up so easily but unfortunately by the time I got home, my beautiful styled hair had frizzed up bad. Darn it! But nonetheless, I really enjoyed my time at FeNom and have found a new hair salon - Yeah! Their prices are pretty reasonable and my haircut was great. One of the best I've ever had. So safe to say I will return when I want to get my hair done again. Prices for my budget are a little expensive but not too bad. Great customer service, I made an appointment because I purchased a $17 (Wash, Cut, Treatment and Blow dry) through Groupon. I was in and out with great service. I had Lily do a great job with my hair. I was also offered coffee, water or wine (I had to say no to wine because I was supposed to be at a job meeting lol) otherwise everything was A1! Looking forward to come by again. I have submitted a prior review, but no one even responded. I feel a deep obligation to supply a second review. I cannot express enough the mental abuse that I still feel after my ill experience at Fenom. When we go to a surgeon, he is a professional who has studied, dedicated his life, and his duty to give you the best possible surgery, care, etc. It may not always work out that way, but that his duty. When we go to a salon, the stylist has also studied, dedicated his or her career in studying beauty, and continuing their education by learning new products, techniques, and taking continuing educational classes. I believe in my humble opinion that is their job to make the client look as good as possible.When the client looks good it brings them more business, because obviously they are recommended. In addition the same client hopefully is happy, and continues to be your client. I don't think you have to be a rocket- scientist to figure that out. For me it is very simple, good customer service. I know you have customers that come in with a groupon. That doesn't mean they are cheap or poor. You advertise a groupon, and for the customer it is a way of trying a new salon. It doesn't necessarily mean that customer wants to stick to that groupon, or that price, but if you are reputable you need to honor the groupon, if that is what the customer wishes. With that said, the customer doesn't want to feel nickel and dimed. They don't need a constant criticism of the last salon. I once heard a stylist criticize a woman's cut, and how horrible and uneven it was. When he asked her who did it, she said you did. He did not remember her, and he thought that by criticizing the last person, that is a way to gain a customer. Well it is not. My case with Fenom is that the stylist implied very clearly that I was ugly, and poor, and not the maintenance type. Maintenance and pricey salons are worth it, if they give you the best possible service, and the best possible results. They are not worth it, if they are foil counters. I don'twant to go to a salon that is foil counters.com, Fenon is not alone. I went to another salon, where the stylist asked me if I wanted toner, and how many highlights I wanted. I responded, that I will go to beauty school, and when I graduate, I will answer those questions. At the salon that I go to now, they make me beautiful. The first time I was there it took the stylist 8 hours and he only waited on me for those 8 hours. He did not look at the clock, or count foils, he did what he had to do to make me beautiful. Then he took my before and after pictures, and he got 5000 views within a very short period of time. I would think this is going to bring him business. Now I went for my second appointment, and he was ever to take my hair to the next level of blonde. Now it is beyond gorgeous. I am not conceited, but the fact is that he gave me movie star hair. I was there now only for 4 hours. Again, I did not have to be nervous about counting foils, or being nickel and dimed. When he blew out my hair, he evened out the ends just a bit with the scissor, and he did not charge for that. I know that the salon that I am going to now is expensive, but it is worth it. It is not expensive if you hair comes out wow. It is not expensive if they take the time with you to make you wow. It is not expensive if they make you feel as good on the inside as on the outside. I still have bad thoughts in my head after your visit at Fenom. I hear sometimes, you are not a high maintenance girl. I hear in my head, wow, you look different after just a blow dry. The new salon had made a customer, and Fenom lost allot of business. I can tell you that between the two visits I have spent $1750.00 and I am looking forward to my next appointment in two months. I can't say enough great things. I've always found myself bouncing from stylist to stylist because I was never convinced that they fully knew what they were doing or they wouldn't educate me on the process so I would know what to expect. Jessica from FeNom Salon is the real deal and I'm super glad I was referred to her when I moved to the area. She is very patient and does a great job at educating her clients and giving options. I'm always happy with the end result even when it's a work in progress. And even more importantly, my hair has become much healthier with her help (she recommends great products and explains how to use them too). SO! I have been going to FeNom for a 4/5 months now, and it's about time I write a review!!! This is hands down the best salon I have ever been to. I originally picked the place because they use Pureology and Redken products, which I love and I have such sensitive skin and hair so I need to use Redken chromatics dyes for my scalp health. My Hair has never been healthier in my entire life!! And for what I do to it, you would think it would be fried.. These girls really really care so much about taking care of you. They are all very passionate and know what they are talking about, but the trick is, you have to LISTEN to what they say and how they are telling you to take care of your hair. Anyone can go to any random salon and get your hair done, but these girls really care and want you to look your best, even in between sessions. Jessica has really taught me so much on how to take care of my own hair. I always love whenever I go it because it feels like family now and I always have so much fun. The price is exceptional for the high end products they use. I was used to paying $600 to get my hair done. Mind you, I have to get my very dark natural hair lifted (lightened to blonde) first, and then Jessica puts the fire red on it afterwards. Even after all of that, not only is my sensitive skin and scalp completely fine, the price is way more reasonable!!! I also have very long thick hair and I used to have the worst split ends all over the place, even after I would get it done and now it's still thick all the way to the ends and shiny and just healthy! Just left here after a men's haircut. I'm always skeptical of trying anyone new because stylists and barbers tend to take off more than I ever want cut. After searching Yelp, I found FeNom Salon, and decided to give them a shot. The business was a little hard to find as I drove by it the first time. You want to turn in on NE 207th St heading west and then make a left into the plaza, and they are on the second floor. Everyone was friendly, the salon is clean and well kept. I made an appointment about two weeks ago because I wanted a particular hair stylist for bayalage. A few days ago the text me to make sure I am coming. Last night they called me to make sure I was coming. I show up for my scheduled appointment , 15 min early, for them to tell me they have to cancel it. Why do you make appointment wait two weeks and to be told only once you show up that they can't take you. And the only option you are given is to either be with someone else ( which you didn't want so you waited the two weeks) or to wait another week. It's so inconsiderate of people time! I scheduled my entire day around this cause I was told it would take a few hours. This is beyond unacceptable and complete disregard of people and their time. My original review a little more thank a week ago was very upsetting and frustrating but I went back this weekend for the new appointment and they did not disappoint. They took good care of me and my hair came out perfect! I was very nervous but Lily was very sweet and she is amazing at what she does. Please note that I first called the salon to give them an opportunity to make this right but unfortunately they were not professional...just like the service they provided. This place obviously run by amateurs trying to be 'seasoned' stylists. With so many positive reviews I took a shot and now I think that these reviews are probably friends of the owner or women with simple straight hair with maybe long hair that just come for a simple trim??? Hymm? Maybe ... If you have thick curly hair, I would not recommend this place. Don't waste your time and your hair. They lied about price and did not make good of their mistake. I paid double what I agreed to pay before I made the appointment. It was stupid of me to actually take my credit card out and pay. I was 10 min late and they didn't have time for 'deep conditioning' umm ok that was fine but when another customer comes in the stylist who happens to also own the salon gets short with me and doesn't finish the job. I asked for her to either blow out the moisture or use a flat iron and her response was 'umm I don't have time...well someone else is washing the next customers hair so ok I can flat iron' she might as well as left my hair wet. I basically paid a lot for someone to wash my hair. The cut is terrible. Really. Anyway, the receptionist is convinced that those 10 minutes would have allowed the stylist to deep condition my hair, blow it throughly and flat iron it properly. Umm ok sure. My ends are dead. Got a Groupon for a color and cut for a great price and worth the drive to Aventura. This little salon is very well managed. There was a steady influx of clients rotating in and out of chairs on Saturday afternoon. Miraculously, between color applications, cuts and blow drys, no one was ever left waiting. The owner should give lessons to other Miami salons where you wait 30 + minutes WITH an appointment. I was offered water, coffee or wine, and they even had cheese and crackers for grabs. It's the little things. The day I am offered a Hendricks cocktail at a salon I will forever be loyal. Just kidding. Not really. My color came out great. I ended up getting a glaze on my sun-bleached brassy ends in addition to a root touchup. The result? Glossy, allover even color. My cut wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I wanted whispy bangs I could wear down or swept to either side, but they ended up very blunt and difficult to work with. I wouldn't come here again for a cut but their regular pricing on color is very reasonable. read more

I am in love with this salon! I've been on an endless search for a welcoming place to get my hair done. I started coming here about two years ago and discovered it through Groupon. Side note: The service you receive when using a voucher at an establishment really says it all - are they awesome and want to keep you as a customer or are they douchey because they are losing more than 50% of a sale on the new customers first visit and not capable of fostering lasting relationships? Some places handle this first impression well and FeNom is one of them! The owner, Jessica, was super friendly and treated me like a regular (and now I am!). Shelby was and has been my stylist since day one! She even did my wedding hair! Every member of the team is very professional and they consistently treat their customers well. Shelby is always down to try something new and I'm always coming into the salon with big ideas. In addition, when I say trim, she actually trims. Everytime I leave, I'm thankful I have a place to call home. I get exactly what I want and more! The salon itself is very clean and modern. The task force has grown exponentially and each time I come in the place is very busy and boasting of happy customers. I always make an appointment and they are also really good at accommodating you short notice... I booked my last hair appt just three days in advance. I don't recommend just randomly walking in. Fenom is literally the best salon in south Florida. I used to live 10 mins from it and now it's almost an hour and I still only get my hair done there. Jessica is AMAZING! She has made me platinum blonde, brunette, and blonde again all while making sure my hair looks and feels awesome. I am always wary of picking a new salon because I frequently have my hair bleached. My blonde is always ON POINT when Jess is done with me and my hair always feels so soft which can be difficult with bleached hair. Highly recommend anyone who needs color treatment to check out Jess. I walked in here after an awful experience at another salon. My hair was a disaster with choppy highlights and I was leaving town at 6am the next morning. They made time for me even though I didn't have an appointment. I sat down for a consultation and they were able to work out a price that was affordable for me. May was able to fix my hair and she gave me exactly what I wanted. She melted, toned, and gave me the balayage look I originally wanted. I've never walked out of a salon as happy as I did here. I am in town on vacation and just wanted to get my roots done. I decided on this salon b/c of Yelp reviews. I made an appointment and they put me with Shelby. I was unsure and nervous about a new salon but Shelby was a professional in demeanor and styling ability. She recommend a plan for my hair gave me a total price before she began and the outcome was absolutely fabulous! I wish I had the time to fly here once a month and have her do my hair. I went here for the first time last week with Tamar as my stylist. I got a balayage, cut, and blow dry, and my hair came out great. The atmosphere felt very welcoming and everyone there was super friendly and I immediately felt comfortable there. Tamar explained everything she was doing to my hair and why which I really appreciated. When I came into the salon my hair was a brassy orange color and when I left my hair had been toned to a beautiful golden blonde. From my experience with another salon, I was terrified to see what my hair would feel like once I took a shower, as last time my hair looked and felt completely different after. However, after getting my hair done here with the Olaplaex treatment, I was amazed at how soft my hair felt in the shower, it felt so much healthier than it had and it felt like no damage had been done to it. I really love how my hair looks, and I'll definitely be returning to this salon. read more
