Unfortunately I don't have many options on where to take my embroidery machines in to get serviced, and because I run them daily I need to take them in more often than the average person. Fenton Sew & Vac has done a great job with repairs & prices seem to be comparable if not slightly lower than the other local options. But my one complaint is the lack of customer service. Every time I go in or call I have a negative experience. Multiple instances of being ignored upon walking up to the service counter. Multiple instances of employees being rude and short. It's a shame they still get my business given my circumstances, however, I wish they would treat their customers with more respect and kindness. read more

I have a White sewing machine that I think I may have paid around 140 for on sale at Joanne Fabrics a couple years back---I am not a huge sewer so I bet it didn't even see 50 hours of sewing....well if seemed to be having a problem and this place has pretty much nothing but glowing reviews and the "free estimate" is advertised---so I went in---they moved the knob around a little---and said they think it is something with a belt/gear and would be well over 100 to fix but probably around 150.00 so it was up to me as to how attached I was to my machine....I brought it home and threw it in the trash and now will be shopping for a new one. They had an old old looking model there for 50.00 and a new baby-loc brand I can get into for 100.00 but I am hoping to catch one at Tuesday Morning or on severe clearance somewhere---as I would like a new modern machine with a few extras.... I did find out that you get free sewing classes with any new machine purchase which is very very nice and helpful.... read more

I spent over $1000 on an industrial sewing machine and they never got it to me!! I waited for over a month and eventually got a refund. Upon going in the salesman gave me a weird attitude and acted like I was an idiot. Im a professional creative and look weird; the owner is an older white man in his 60's so I feel like I was profiled. Despite my concerns I bought a machine that wasn't a brand I wanted because he pressured me. I waited for this machine for other a month. I'm fairly certain they sold my machine to someone else and then ordered a second one to fill my order. When I called at the month mark I was given multiple excuses as to why it wasn't ready and then told "well we have your number". They called me the next day but do not have voicemail. And then they just never called me back. I finally called them the next Friday to arrange delivery which they claimed they wouldn't be able to do until the next Tuesday despite me being 15 mins away and them being open that Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. $1100 to be treated like a second-class citizen? No thanks. I asked for my money back. read more

I can't speak to the "Vac" side of the business, but regarding sewing machines, these people know what's up!! I have a VERY old Pfaff Tiptronic handed down to me from my Aunt and it has worked with no problems for me for almost 10 years (and who knows how long for her before that). Sadly a few weeks ago, I plugged it in and a very sad sound came out when I tried to pump on the pedal. I assumed it was a pedal issue. I called around to a few sewing repair locations in the city and each one of them said just an estimate would be over $50. I was resolved to have it fixed regardless, but thankfully I came across Fenton Sew and Vac and discovered they offer free estimates!! I came into the shop about a week before Thanksgiving, they initially tried a few other pedals in case it truly was a pedal problem, and then filled out a form so I could leave my priceless baby with them for the time being. The gentleman who helped me were VERY nice and told me I'd get a call in about a week. I figured since it was so close to the holiday, I wouldn't hear anything for a few weeks. Instead, I got a call within 3 days about the issue (motor) and the estimate to fix it and then to a proper cleaning. It would only be a little over $100 to get it back to new condition again, so I went for it. A few days after Thanksgiving it was ready to pick up and I've since already completed a project or two that I'd been anxious to work on. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place if you're having any sewing machine or vacuum trouble. They're prompt, friendly, and very reasonably priced. I will never take my machines here again. I have taken my machine here to get it repaired, the machine stopped doing a zigzag stitch- at 20years old it was bound to need a service. I have now taken my machine back for repairs about 6x, and it is sewing worse now! I now have a machine that will not sew a foot of a good seam! I am very distraught that my flawless machine for 20 years has been ruined by these HACKS in just a few visits, and it's WORSE after each one. They are full of excuses on why my machine is being naughty. Everything from MY skill level, my fabric, my thread, but never do they say that they didn't do quality work on my machine. Well, I can comment on the Vac portion of this business Our Hoover carpet cleaner stopped working and Fenton Sew And Vac was listed as a warranty provider. Great. they tell us it's the trigger that is the problem. We take it in on June 7th and was told it would be 7-10 days for the repair. It is now July 10th and still no vacuum. One of the employees when asked what the status was on it was very rude to my wife. Had it been me he was rude to, I would have demanded the item be returned to the status it was when we brought it in and would have been done with them. Will NOT do business with them again. And would suggest you find someone else to do repair on your Hoover products. read more

I purchased a Royal 600.00 vacuum from Fenton sew and vac several years ago. I have never found the owners overly friendly but they gave me a good price and extended warranty. They have serviced my vacuums and sold me bags/belt/etc for over 10 years. Again, not overly friendly but met my needs. In June I purchased the wrong sized bags and unfortunately moved out of state and could not return. I am in need of a source for bags so called to see if they could help. They were not willing to credit my account if I sent them back nor would they send me new ones. They just really didn't want to go to any effort -at all. If there was another Royal dealer that is interested at all in servicing and appreciating longstanding customers - I would switch in a minute. A Ho Hum business. read more

It is very unfortunate that I have to write this review for this particular business, but I simply hate it when someone simply tells you a lie with a straight face. My vacuum cleaner, Electrolux, that has been working great for more than 6 years, was broken. I took it to one repair shop but they did not have the expertise to deal with it and honestly told me that. This particular shop, Sew and Vac, is an authorized repair center and when I called them they said they will take a look at it the same day and will let me know. So, I drove 20 miles, dropped it off and once again was assured that they will call before the end of business with an estimate. They did not. So I called them, and was told they did not get to it on Friday, but will definitely get back to me on Saturday. The guy said, again, that my cleaner is first in line to be dealt with. Guess what? The Saturday came and went, I called again and was told that they might get to it on Monday, because they have a lot of units ahead of mine. I asked why wasn't I told that on Friday? The answer was - you can come and pick it up any time if you don't like it. Just like that. What a way to run a business! read more

I came in to have my sewing machine repaired. I was sidetracked by the array of new sewing machines out on display. Even though I made it clear that I was "just looking" the sales person took the time to answer all my questions and to demonstrate unique aspects of the various machines. They repaired my old machine within the estimated time frame. I was told they'd do any repair up to $100 without calling but anything over that requires the owners permission. I had a Kenmore vacuum cleaner - about 3 years old - that had a horrible noise and vibration in the "head" (a canister vacuum). The "competition" wanted $99. plus the parts to look at it, so I tried these folks. Granted, I drove about 17 miles to get there, because the choices in the St. Louis area are limited - especially if you read reviews... They were VERY pleasant folks, took the vacuum in to have a look. FIVE minutes later it was repaired - $42 - and is quiet as it has ever been. We purchased both of our vacuums there about two years ago. We've been really happy with both Riccar vacuums and recently had to go back in to have the cord repaired on one of them. The place was super busy but they were obviously working hard and apologetic for the wait. I was told it would probably be about a week and $65 to repair. I had my old Babylock serger repaired, picked up on 8/11 looking forward to sewing all day Sunday, my only day off. Opened the bag with the machine at 3:50 on Saturday to find that the foot pedal/cord is not there! Immediately called at 3:55 and no one would pick up the phone. I know that they close at 4, but still. No answer to my phone call means they are going to have to deliver it to me, since I'm only off on Sundays. Shoddy customer service. Will keep you informed if they rectify to my satisfaction. $148.20 and can't even test to see if it runs. read more

The sewing side is superb....but the vac side stands to bring the stars way way down. I have taken an old Singer there and it was beautiful fixed for a good price. But a vacuum....Don't expect to get it back within a reasonable time. And I mean it will be weeks. And expect them to call the makers of it to see if they will just send a new one so they can keep the one you brought in to be fixed, for parts! All this was under warranty from Bissel. This is why I normally just fix things myself. The part to be replaced was $2 on EBAY and took maybe an hour, and that's pushing it, to replace the part. They had the vacuum for 2 weeks before we went and took it back so we could vacuum our floors. Then took it back cause they "had the part". They had it for another two weeks almost before we started calling about it. They called Bissel and asked to keep the vacuum since Bissel sent us a temporary replacement until we got ours back. When I called to find out about the vacuum they told us BISSEL called THEM and told them to scrap it. I call major BS, called Bissel about it and they told me this place had called them, not the other way around. Way to go Fenton Sew n Vac....Trying to rip people off. Not to mention they told Bissel a completely different part number as to what the vacuum is that I originally took to them to fix. read more
