I chose this organization not only because of it's affordable prices but the quickness and professionalism of their staff. The communication throughout the month of confirmation and steps to take to ensure my pet had an appointment ready was amazing. The drop off times and pick ups were the same day and it was a super easy process. I was worried that my cat was a purebreed but I was informed it wasn't. Tuxedo cats are not purebreed I learned hah. My cat has stopped spraying, stopped yowling in the night to attract. I was worried he would be different, well, he is, he's purring, he's cuddling, and that's after one day. Very disappointed. They've come and pick up the cats then won't return all my cats, one never was returned, gave me a bunch of excuses. One other died 2 days after surgery. Now I don't feel comfortable using them for their services. I even gave the guy money for pickup up of the cats, and returning. No good deed goes unpunished. I have a colony of feral cats in the neighborhood and I wanted to help. I was only able to trap one and take to this organization. I literally spent a total of four hours of driving and my air conditioning broke on the drive. When I picked up the cat, the personnel was super rude and very passive-aggressive. I'm very allergic to cats. I have to say this was just a hard day and then to deal with the personnel being so rude. I won't have anything to do with this organization again! read more

Very nice experience. I took my 2 PET cats. The price was great, I drove 4 hours to get there, I did get alittle lost and ended up being about 20 minutes late (took the wrong exit) The ladies at the front where very nice and when i picked up my two babies they gave me great instructions and told me everything that happened. We did shots, fixing and got E collars. The only thing that bothered me was the lady that was behind us making extremely rude comments like " Wow i guess we all get to show up 40 minutes late." and " They told us to bring cats in traps i can't believe people cant read and brought them in carriers" Other then that great experience nice staff. This Volunteer organization, cares about cats more then most people ever will. They want the cats to be returned to the grounds they are familiar. Why humans should use this service: They offer several human helping services based on keeping feral cats healthy. Clipping the cats and giving them their shots helps stops the spread of disease. So you can be selfish and just want Disease-free cats that will not over breed the area. This is like a CDC service because in SD the cats have no real Predators or weather that will even out the population. Why dog owners should use this service: Trap the cats In a humane cage even if your not a cat lover so your dog won't get sick or fight the cat and get disease. They won't be infested with fleas and ticks. Etc. Why you want to keep a Disease-free-no-baby-having-cat-around. In a word "rats" these cats are amazing hunters, you may not like feral cats but maybe you like Disney Land. If you go onto the Disney Land website they have a page about the 100 Feral cats they have running around the park. They have all been clipped and given shots. Even they know that the best way to control the Rodents is with good ol feral cats. Why you want to rerun them where you found them and not dump them somewhere. Your home, bushes, dark places will become over run with rodents. Do you want a few disease-free feral cats or an ass load of rats. It doesn't matter how much money you have and how much you spend on pest control, a feral cat that has been looked at by a vet is your best bet. FCC This org, has a system that most humans never heard of or seen but they have a method to the madness. Not all the volunteers are people persons. Like wanting to chat or ham it up with you but they may be great for this kind of selfless volunteer work. They are cat people. So follow their directions and be ok they will try to save every cat that can. They vet between 35-68 cats a day so relax your in good hands. They have rules on how they want the cat brought in this is not for human convenience it's so the cat (Their main concern) has the best possible experience. It's really not that bad but they have a way they want it done, it's so worth it. Once you meet them the people of FCC you know they want these cats to be healthy and thrive. I read some of the neg reviews and just think the people may not understand how many cats are being brought in. Also if you do trap a feral cat it maybe sick or something so if it passes it was it's time. These people go out of their way to keep the cats closest to the 9 lives. I found 2 feral cats they where both brought in and returned. I have seen them twice since then, they look like they are doing feral cat things. Cheers. read more

I had a stray give birth to 7 kittens in a barn!! All I wanted to do was help. So I contacted feral cat and Hannah never mentioned needing money for traps. I found the info in the email she sent after she scheduled the appointment. Then the volunteer who meets you with traps told me that each cat needs its own trap!! At $75 a peice. Yes you get it back unless you break the trap...even on accident. But seriously who has $400-500 to deposit? Then all those traps have to fit in my car....and i would have to travel from Julian to ElCajon and wait in town until 3 so I can bring them back to the property we live on. Plus gas. I financial can not do that. So needless to say we were sad we couldn't help the kittens. Then a few weeks later I see on facebook that Hannah is coming up to julian beer to trap 2 cats,take them down to spay and neuter then bring them back...really?!! Only for the beer company though right? Is that so you can advertise you did it? Was there incentive offered to her? Hmm...from the moment I spoke with Hannah I never got the feeling that she was in this to help. Somehow she makes money and that's what it's about. The organization never once offered help to me and I live 4 turns from Julian beer company. Really disheartening. And very telling to her priorities. But we have all the kitties and they get fed and stay safe. Wish this organization didn't back us into a corner where we couldn't help but give so much help to a business that has funds to do it the way she ask us to. We really could have used that offer just to lighten the load of deposits,gas...again we are a few turns from julian beer Co. And she never offered assistance. They may help some but all I can do is offer what my experience was with feral cat and Hannah. And it was disheartening to say the least. read more

Extraordinarily sensitive and fine group of people. With their loan of a cat trap to me, combined with advice: I was able to catch and rescue two feral cats in former postal service grounds in the midway district of Point Loma. One of the cats was determined to be a "stray" who was most likely dumped. After the Feral Cat Coalition vet provided vet treatment, I tried to adopt him. But he did not "mix" with the 2 cats I already had. So I brought him to the Humane Society where he was eventually adopted by a teacher. The other cat I trapped on the postal service grounds was genuinely feral. The poor guy was old and had a severe lip problem which looked like part of his upper lift had fallen off. The vet decided that the most humane thing to do was to euthanize him. A sensible decision made in the best interest of the cat. A sensitive and fine group of people. read more

This organization is amazing and they really give every cat a chance. The volunteer coordinators are efficient and I believe they use every resource they can find to get the feral cats the best quality of life. So many feral cats are left to fend for themselves but FCC gets people together to help these cats. Whenever I have money to donate this is my go to organization to make a donation. Everything up until getting the kitty back was great. Maybe I shouldn't be leaving such a low mark, but this was my first time doing a TNR and it went horribly in the end. The kitty ended up dying even tho two other resources said to give the kitty time. That it was normal for him to be breathing a certain way because he was coming off the meds. Then I went to check on him in the middle of the night and he was stiff as a board. Cried my eyes out. All I was trying to do was help the little fellow and instead I got him killed. Working with Anita Wood was in my opinion the worst experience ever regarding any cat business. Total waste of time. After working on a time and date for scheduling cat trap and spay/neuter I was refused service at the vets office and by Anita Wood. Look at the paper work and your limits of liability. While I agreed to care for the cat after surgery, I did not want any monetary liability afterwards in case of complications. They flat out refused any kind of service because I did not want to pay for post surgical support. Remove Anita Wood from her position at the Feral Cat Coalition. read more

I have nothing but great things to say , you are all very well organized and you have help me save a neighbor cat. The call backs and emails from you were done in a timely manner. This cat i had spayed had just had a littler of kittens in my backyard that I want to capture and help too. The Feral Cat Coalition indeed helps the cat population. This organization has been great for us. We starting feeding a cat several months ago and we eventually found her two babies in the bushes. Fast forward to this past March and it was time to attempt to catch all three of these kitties for TNR. I found the FCC through a Google search and made the call. The process was smooth and we successfully caught the mom cat and her son. We weren't successful with the daughter cat and she had a litter of six not too long ago. I'm happy to say that we successfully found homes for four of the six from the litter. The other two were brought to a shelter. The info on the FCC website was very valuable in teaching us when the right time was to take the kittens from their mom for their best chance at successful adoption. Anyway, we have an appointment to try and catch the cat that evaded us the first time. We like having these cats around. They caught a Gopher that we couldn't and left it on our doorstep. Fingers crossed we are able to catch the daughter this time around. read more

I only have good things to say about FCC and Anita Wood. About 2 1/2 years ago I TNR'd about 30 cats that I help care for. Anita Wood helped me accomplish this task by setting up appointments at a local vet since the Feral and Friends Clinic didn't exist at the time. Since then I have brought several cats back to them for medical attention. They always do their best to help me and if there isn't a clinic when a cat needs help, they will refer me to a vet that can help and FCC picks up the cost. I'm so thankful for all of their help. Nothing but good things to say about this organization. Eight years ago I trapped a family of 5 cats (dad & 4 babies - the mom disappeared) from my office where they were being fed but not otherwise cared for. I took them for shots & neutering, and gave them a safe forever home in my barn. I was just evicted from the home I've lived in for 8 years and was able to trap all but two of the ferals, who kept me hopping for three weeks by evading all trapping attempts. My ex-landlord was threatening the lives of the two remaining cats until FCC stepped in. A member of the Board of Directors contacted him as a professional rescue group and held him at bay - as I was unable to do - until the other two cats could be trapped. The local volunteer, an amazing and dedicated woman, spent hours for days on end working to get the last feral to come out from hiding so he could be trapped. She pulled out all the stops and tried every trick in the book until he finally made an appearance on Monday, was trapped on Tuesday, and will be returned to his safe haven in my new home this afternoon. FCC and its members and volunteers will be blessed for the good and vital work they do. They have my undying gratitude. read more
