I appreciate the important work this provider does for animals and understand how busy things can get. However, I experienced some communication issues--after my initial outreach, I didn't receive appointment details as expected, and when I replied, I did not get a response. The appointment was missed, and follow-up was unsuccessful on my end. My email has worked reliably with other providers, so I'm not sure where the breakdown happened. I recommend confirming appointments through multiple channels, just in case, so your pet's care isn't delayed. I hope this helps to prevent future mix-ups and allows the provider to continue focusing on animal care. read more

We had committed to an overseas trip when our cat Ziggy was diagnosed with cancer. His condition required daily care including the administration of medication and fluids. When we looked for someone who could handle his medical needs while we were gone several people recommended Josh at Pet n Vet services. He is extremely professional and organized, which gave us confidence that Ziggy would get the daily care he needed. Its also clear to us that he loves his work and has great affection and empathy for the animals he works with. We could tell we had someone caring for Ziggy who could provide that care in a loving and thoughtful manner. Josh sent us daily updates on our trip and even taught our dad Eddy (house-sitting non-cat-person) some tricks on how to improve Ziggy's oral fluid intake. Without Josh's help the trip would have been impossible. And with the compassionate manner in which he provided care we were able to be relaxed on our trip without worrying about our little guy. Blood, bile, and an untreated injured animal is what we came home to find under Joshua Millerd's care of our 2 cats. It is a nightmare we are still in the middle of. My wife and I went on a long awaited 8-day vacation out of country last week. We hired Vet n' Pet's owner, Joshua Millerd, as a Registered Veterinarian Technician (RVT) to take care of our cat with diabetes as well as feed our other healthy younger cat with twice daily visits in our home. We had and paid for 4 prior orientation and practice visits with Mr. Millerd before we left for our trip. We wanted everyone to feel completely comfortable so we could get away and relax. As those with diabetic furry friends, it is essential to have trained personnel check blood glucose, feed, and care for/calculate insulin need at regular 12-hour intervals. Upon our departure, Mr. Millerd never met the time window visit schedule agreed to. He was as late as 2+ hours. He would send us gibberish email updates after 1am his time and then be substantially late for our morning appointed visits. (Draw your own conclusion.) He also sent a non-RVT to our home without any RVT supervision to apply the medical services we contracted with him to perform. He denied this to us until he knew we had a security camera. And most egregiously, he locked our healthy cat in the attic unattended for long enough that he completely tore out two of his claws trying to escape. This cat had bled all over the room and was clearly injured. Mr. Millerd did not tell us of our cat's injury nor did he provide medical treatment. By the time we got home, our "healthy" cat had now developed a bad infection from his untreated injury. We spent our first day back all day at the animal emergency hospital where they had to put him under general anesthesia to clean and treat his infection. He is still under infection treatment and we have additional vet bills that are a direct result of Mr. Millerd's negligence. We came back with blood and vomit bile throughout our home. Furniture was moved and our place was in disarray. We immediately changed our locks and security code. Do not trust Mr. Millerd with your pets or in your home...please. My wife and I are animal lovers, foster parents for cats, and humane society volunteers. This is not about the outrageous amount of money we paid him for the quality care we were more than willing to pay for; this was first time we have ever written on Yelp. However, we feel complete obligation to our furry friends to expose Mr. Millerd so no other pet will be under his care or in your home. read more

Josh with pet n vet has taken care of many of the medical needs of my cat for the last 2 years. I don't like to take him to the vet so its very convenient to have Josh come to do a house call to do any blood work or other diagnostic work. My cat Machete has had an array of medical issues and it proves to very stressful. Using Josh's services takes much of the stress off from having to take my cat into the vet. On our first few appointments he took extra time to allow Machete to warm up to him so he'd be comfortable treating him. I highly recommend using pet n vets services. read more

Made the reservation mid October for December service for our elderly, disabled dog. Verbiage wasn't clear in the contract as to when deposit should be received. Got this e-mail verbatim November 1: "We are disappointed your non payment of services due! No further service will be provided, take care." I should have taken the abrupt lack of grammar as a red flag, but let it go as a simple misinterpretation. Make sure you read their policies. Their is no wriggle room for changes or cancellations and deposits are non-refundable. $37 for the acquaintance visit. They also accidentally shredded our entire info packet which takes about an hour to complete. True, they are ALL Vet techs. The person who met our dog was not his only care giver due to a family emergency. Three different techs during 7 overnights made for gaps in his care. They were not available for afternoon visits. Though they specify "no job sharing," we HAD to hire another company for that. As if they were doing me a favor, I was told many times that this was a special exception. Trust me I paid enough for this "exception," I didn't need the reminder. I'll spare the specifics, but it was a comedy of errors, really, and we were repeatedly made to feel at fault. They were always abrasively defensive. It ended with a stale, insincere apology with no true resolution other than, what's done is done. And, I'm certain their will be some scathing rebuttal to this post by the owner. I personally will not be using or recommending them in the future. read more

Our 8-year-old female cat, ZuZu had become quite ill in late 2017 and 2018. ZuZu had been steadily losing weight even though she had a voracious appetite. Visits to three different vets (including a holistic vet) revealed no specific causes for her condition. They did all the tests and everything came back normal. The only thing all of the vets agreed on was that ZuZu had a severe dental issue and probably needed to have multiple teeth extracted. One day, after a visit with her regular vet, ZuZu was so stressed she conked out for 48 hours on the couch and did not move during that time (she did not eat or go to the bathroom). We figured she was dying (she had lost about a third of her body weight over the past few months despite wanting to eat constantly). In a last gasp effort I took her back to her vet to see if there was anything else they could do. They did not have any answers but they did give her sub-cutaneous fluids because she was very dehydrated. About 12 hours later she was awake and asking for food. Amazing! Clearly the fluids helped her. I discussed with the vet if we needed to continue to give her fluids and they said she would need them every few days if she's not taking in enough fluids on her own, which apparently was the case. Because ZuZu hates going to the vet and I didn't want to put her through that stress every few days (given her condition) I looked for a mobile vet tech who could come to the house to give her the SubQ fluids. I found Josh at Pet n Vet Support services and hired him to do this. Josh was absolutely fantastic in every way. He clearly knows what he is doing and knows how to treat animals properly and with compassion. He came to our house every few days over the course of a couple of months to give ZuZu fluids and I definitely think this saved her life. He also cleaned her ears because she had a nagging ear infection and gave her vitamin B-12 shots, which seemed to give her a boost of energy. He took amazing care of her and even though she was still very sick she did improve a bit getting the regular fluids. As it turns out, Josh is very experienced with dental procedures on dogs and cats. He and the vet he works with perform many of these surgeries. Josh examined our cat's teeth and confirmed she needed the dental surgery. He felt there was a good chance that removing the infected teeth would help ZuZu's condition. So we set up the surgery with the VetBus, which is where Josh works when not running Pet n Vet Support Services. The vet at the VetBus (who is also wonderful -- see my Yelp review on VetBus for more info) came to our house to examine ZuZu and we scheduled the surgery. The VetBus is a mobile veterinary lab and they were able to come to our house and do the surgery parked in front of our house saving ZuZu the stress of another traumatic visit to the vet. After the dental surgery, in which they removed 19 of ZuZu's teeth, she quickly showed remarkable improvement. She started gaining weight and became more active. She became cuddly again and started playing with her toys and with her brother. She had stopped doing all of this in the months prior to the surgery. ZuZu was a regular cat again and I have to thank Josh for doing so much for ZuZu during this entire ordeal. I can't imagine a better person to call to care for your pets. He was professional and experienced and we got it done quickly and as easily as could be expected. He had helpful information about vet recommendations as well! Home service that's easy, affordable, friendly and trustworthy! After we struggled with trying to do SubQ at home under the training and direction of Niko's vet, I called Pet n Vet (Josh) to come and help. I based this off of the great reviews, and it was the best call I made. Josh bonded with Niko right away, even though he was there for treatment. He's very kind and it felt like having a friend over for a visit. He gave us pointers and trained us on SubQ treatment. We scheduled check-in visits and he provided the in-home care we needed for our Niko. When the time had come, Josh arranged for the most wonderful vet to come to our house for the final appointment. She was beyond fantastic, and having Josh assist was very calming for our Niko. It couldn't have gone any better, for what it was. Josh was responsive to messages, appointments and requests for info and we really felt 'taken care of' for Niko's needs. I wanted to take the time today to let all know the Terrific,Valuable Service Josh at Pet n' Vet has provided to my precious girl cat, Blackie :) She's an old girl, found her in the streets 7 years ago, she'd been hit by cars, but what a little trooper she is, has taught us a lot of good, she just keeps going and with such a positive attitude. She was tough though, has a right hook that surprises you but once she could trust us, she turned into such a loving, wonderful friend. She suffers with kidney disease now, that can be so difficult and complicated both for her and us. We realized she should not be going to the vet hospital now for the fluids to keep her as comfortable as possible, the car ride was way too difficult on her now. We were able to find Josh to come to us and from the day we met him we were sure we'd made a great choice. He's so kind, very soft with her and is always thinking outside the box to help make her as pain free and comfortable as is possible. We sure Appreciate you Josh!! :) Blackie, in just 3 months is doing unbelievably better under Josh's care, we thought she was very close to her time but she has bounced back so wonderfully, She's walking, hugging and licking us again, just plain a happy, precious girl!! When we lived in San Diego (2005 to late 2011), we were fortunate to get a referral from our vet for pet care in our home. We needed a number of overnight vacation coverages. Now, we knew we found a gem when we were in San Diego. Absolutely outstanding! Josh was so gentle with our very nervous dog who very quickly took to Josh. Our fur baby has heart valvular disease and suffers from some pretty serious "white coat effect." His blood pressure at the vets is 180+ and teeters on the line of needing medication. With Josh's calming presence and a reading at home, his pressure was 126.
