I cannot recommend this rescue enough. I foster failed an amazing dog named Carl with them. They were so amazing to volunteer and foster with until I found *my* pup. And even years later when Carls time came they helped me every step of the way handling one of the most difficult times, I would not have known what to do without them. As I sit here and I write this, I am in tears. I was expecting to get home from my trip and pick up my girl only to find out that they adopted her out to what was supposed to be a temporary foster while I was away. They said that they did it because I asked the size of the mother and discussed the potential size of the puppy. I just think that's kind of weird. I thought you were supposed to ask a lot of questions when you adopted a dog we are semi retired and home all the time we have a large property in El Cajon with large fenced in area. I video taped my entire property for them to view. In addition, we also own another property in Arizona. We are in a very good place to have a pet we've adopted many times from shelters sometimes across the country! I've even paid for dogs to be sent to me from rural shelters in Mississippi to save their lives . I have never gone through the mental anguish as I have gone through dealing with this rescue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The emotional drama of going back-and-forth with them over the last couple weeks has absolutely worn me down.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My heart is broken and I am crying. It is very emotional... certainly, they must realize that people to get very attached when they are about to adopt a puppy. These folks that I had to deal with had no compassion or humanity as to the pain that I am feeling. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The foster mom Lesley was amazing, compassionate and kind.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wish I could've just out directly with her. I was told that they would notify me if anything changed that there were no applications for the dog that I wanted. I asked for the ZELLE to pay them. They told me not to rush that there were no other applications and that they would let me know if anything changed. Well, they did not; they simply adopted the dog out to what was supposed to be a temporary foster. My heart is absolutely broken. I am crushed to the core. Please be careful dealing with this rescue group. I understand that they are all just volunteers, but certainly they must understand that people become attached . when I expressed how upset I was and that I couldn't understand how this happened. They basically told me to put my adoption process on hold which I think means they won't allow me to adopt from them. I don't know. I guess there's other puppies that are available from that same litter. I was not aware. I thought they were all adopted, but I don't think that they will allow them to be adopted to me . Essentially they would rather have the dogs never find a home rather than to be adopted to someone who really wants the dog. Pretty absolutely amazing if you ask me. They also were very against me fostering to adopt, however, allowed someone else to foster her and after five or six days, they apparently decided to adopt her. They had initially told me that the foster did not intend to adopt her and that I could pick her up when I got back from Arizona. Today, I leave to go home to San Diego and I am so sad because I won't be able to pick up my girl... I hope the person that has her gives her a good and can give her an amazing life . I will not have that opportunity. read more

I really don't want to share my experience but just know it's over $600 if you get reeled in. And most of your new dog's vet visits and required shots will be from Mexico so who knows whether your groomer will accept them or not. I love my dog more than anything and I am very grateful that we found each other but these people are intense. And they also do everything as a group, so if you share something with one, you're sharing it with all. Just know that too. read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Can't say enough good stuff about this organization![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I recently decided to foster a pregnant dog from Tijuana who was thought to have five puppies in her... it has been an absolutely great experience![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As an animal lover, I was really happy that before being given the doggie girl, I was first fully vetted over the phone and then asked to fill out an application. In addition to vetting me, they also told me about the foster girl so I could get an idea if she would fit in well with our existing fur babies. They were spot on in her personality and she's been a GREAT fit here at the house. [[HIGHLIGHT]]As soon as it was a "go," the Amazing Strays team sprang into action and I got the little girl the next day, along with EVERYTHING I could possibly need for the process, along with a text chain that gave me access to multiple people who could provide information, resources and support if and when needed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] One of their volunteers went over in detail what I could expect with regard to the labor and birth processes, and having never done this, I felt fully informed which helped me meet the doggy's needs when she went into labor. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have had nothing but support and expedient responses throughout the process and when only two puppies emerged, the organization was quick to get me connected with an emergency vet to double check that all the babies had been born.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This collection of volunteers exude a passion, commitment and love for animals! In response to the owner for my previous review (see photo), Your process must have changed because my pet did NOT receive all of those shots and was NOT sprayed/neutered. I was told it my responsibility on top of the $600 fee and I have emails to verify this happened. Also, I have firsthand knowledge that bios are altered bc when I considered rehoming due to the UNDISCLOSED behavioral issues I submitted a bio to include the issues. When they posted the bio (without my permission btw because I had not confirmed I wanted to Rehome), it was completely altered and said nothing about the behavior issues I also have emails of what I sent and screenshots of what was actually posted. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Transparently likely depends on who you speak to. Most of my interactions were nice and helpful but one person was really unpleasant and I have saved voicemails.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The foster told me the opposite of what was true.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's interesting to see how many "positive" reviews just magically popped up overnight but I'm glad to see that it does work for some people and pets despite the reviews attempts to discredit other experiences with no knowledge of the situation. read more

We had a written agreement with this organization to adopt Pepper on Jan. 4. We planned to drive from our home in Santa Cruz to San Diego to adopt him. [[HIGHLIGHT]]One week before adoption date, we received a text from Kristin with Amazing Strays Rescue stating that they had received additional applications and found a family that was "ready to move forward".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I'm not sure what about committing to a 16-hour round-trip road trip says "not ready to move forward".[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This rescue will charge $600 and take your time but if they can get that $$ faster, you and all the time you put into communication, sending details (photos, videos, etc) of your family/pets/living situation do not matter. I have now adopted three dogs over the last two years from Amazing Strays. I understood that their dogs often come from neglect type situations or strays that were found alone on the streets. They quite often have never had any training or socialization. All three of ours have their quirks, but nothing that time, understanding and training couldn't help solve/manage. All three dogs have become wonderful members of our pack and I would not give them up for the world. Amazing Strays covered all of the medical including their spays/neuters, full basic vaccinations, and de-worming. This rescue is one of the most amazing organizations I've ever worked with. About 8 weeks ago, I found a puppy tied up in a parking lot, abandoned. After trying a few different rescues with no luck, Amazing Strays agreed to help us find a home for the pup (Pepper)! They really do care so much about the animals they help, which was very important to me as I found this dog a new home. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Kristen specifically was incredible! She screened so many families for us, did virtual interviews and home checks, and let us be part of the process when the final family was chosen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Pepper is now in the best possible home thanks to them! I have been working in the rescue community for the last 4 years in San DIego County, fostering both cats and dogs. I fostered a mother dog and 4 puppies pulled off the Euthanasia list at Southern Ca shelter. I have had the most incredible experience working with Amazing Strays. I have been so impressed with how thorough, thoughtful and responsive they have been. All supplies were provded as promised (not always possible with under resourced rescues) and they were availabe to answer any questions I had. I have found every person i interacted with tot be absolutly lovely and kind. Lisa, Kristen, Samatha and Jackie have all been wonderful. Do not foster with these people. This was our first experience with fostering and it has left us with a sour taste. We reached out to them to help us rescue a mom and her four sick puppies from a shelter days before their euthanasia date. At seven weeks, they placed three puppies with other fosters and allowed us to continue to foster one puppy because we wanted to adopt him when he was old enough. They told us he could not be adopted until he was neutered but we could foster-to-adopt until he was old enough. When Mom attacked one of our horses and nearly got kicked, we asked the rescue to try to find her a new home for her safety and were told to suck it up. Yesterday they asked us for an adoption fee for the puppy, now without his neuter and we asked for some time to get the money together. Today they came with the sheriff to take the mom and the puppy. read more
